Great food! Enjoyed the ambience and the quaint setting.
The waitress who served our table was a bit rude. We asked for the next (empty) table to be connected with ours, she said “sure!”, but no action for 15 min. Until my guest arrived and we just had to move the table ourselves for my guest to be seated
Great service and food in a good location. I would return if in the area
A great way to celebrate my birthday while visiting San Fransisco for the first time. Excellent service! Loved the way they made my birthday extra special. Great atmosphere, loved the live jazz music. I wanted to eat more but I was stuffed!
A good classic French cuisine in San Francisco.
Food is good, jazz music excellent, nice service
Keep it like that, please.
When we were first seated, someone came over and offered us sparkling water, implying it was complimentary. We were surprised to then see him bring a bottle of a French sparkling water ( we thought they had a house sparkling water on tap as some places do) which of course appeared on the bill. And food was uninspired.
Lovely lunch. Frisée salad with smoked chicken breast. Superb
I’ve been to Cafe Claude for business lunches in the past. This was my first dinner. Everything was excellent.
Loved the food and service. was excellent
We went on a Sunday evening. It took 20 minutes to get drinks and an hour for our meal. My duck confit was chewy. My wife did like her coqauvin. I would not recommend this place. It was my favorite for many years when I was living n the City.
Has a great ambiance. The waiters were amazing.
I hadn't been to Cafe Claude for years and was delighted to find they have expanded, now have jazz music and the food is still delicious and authentic. Service was very attentive. It's possible to have a conversation here, even with the music. We will definitely be back.
De Carlos, the host, was warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the front door. Our prior request for a quiet spot was already planned for. Ondine, our waitress, was a wonderful FRENCH surprise, and was SUPERB! Her recommendations for wine was very well thought out (she could be a sommelier), as well as her knowledge of the menu!
We weren’t in a hurry, and thoroughly enjoyed the Escargot, trout, and the cheese board. All was absolutely amazing and we have traveled the world, so you won’t be disappointed. A tru bit of France in the heart of San Fran. Thanks so much. Mary & JC
Very intimate. We were able to “pull back the throttles” and relax.
I sliced my hand open real good
Best date night! Good for adult night out groups too. Great place to enjoy live music. Had the specials, which were paired nicely with the wine suggested by our server; and the escargot was fantastic! Tucked away in an alley, made it feel extremely fun and romantic.
Pricey ,however the food and ambiance was excellent.
Had a great lunch at this old fave. Cafe Claude does nor disappoint. The onion soup, croque madame and salad were great. My dining companion loved her poulet roti.
Great Music, very good food and cocktails, reasonable prices
We are demanding of our food quality and preparation. We found Cafe Claude's food good, not great. We had escargot (excellent), a cheese platter (good selelction, adequate portion), duck leg confit (good), Petrale sole (one with chile remoulade--not spicy--and one without--very peppery, my wife found it inedible) and steak frites (done to order). Frites disappointing. Bread served was comparable to a Safeway baguette. Did not try dessert. Went for gelato. Band playing jazz was excellent and did Corcovado for me.
Our first time dining with Cafe Claude when we scrambled for last minute reservations to celebrate our anniversary. What a fabulous decision! We were seated near the jazz quartet's stage and met with champagne by our server Kim, who could not have been nicer or more attentive throughout the evening. Our entrees were delicious, I chose the Coq au Vin and my husband enjoyed the French onion soup and Salade d'Asperge Lyonnaise (substituted dijon mustard dressing instead of hollandaise). Throughout our meal we enjoyed listening to the jazz ensemble. The dining room has lovely decor, warm and relaxing and we felt like we'd wandered into a beautiful little bistro in France. Looking forward to our next visit.
Food and service were outstanding! But we requested outdoor seating and the “Patio” turned out to be an alley. They sat us at a table where there was a vent at our feet that blew air all over our legs like a wind tunnel. When we asked if we could sit inside or move to a table away from the “wind”, they were kind but because they were full, unable to accommodate our request. Outdoor “Patio” tables are covered with paper (rather than cloth tablecloths). Our waitress and the food was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant if you want a fabulous French meal but suggest you book an indoor table.
Never disappoints! The food is wonderful and we love the atmosphere!
Café Claude was a pleasant eclectic experience with piano jazz music playing, unique ambiance, a friendly waitress and to top it off delicious food. My meal started with a moderately spiced steak tartare followed by a crispy skinned, tender duck quarter and a dessert of a very hot tasty chocolate Moelleux au Chocolat. To note: The restaurant is located down an alleyway easily passed by.
One of my favorite places and it was wonderful to share it with friends. We had a delicious meal, great service, and perfect atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.
Great, classic French bistro food, served with grace in a charming location. One of my downtown SF favorites.
Nice restaurant, but losing it's uniqueness. Long ago you heard more French than English at Cafe Claude and the buzz felt Parisian. The food was good (though my Coq Au Vin had a heavy sauce), Jazz music was very nice and the service was prompt. Nice place to go out.
Been going for years. The quality of the food has dropped dramatically.
Excellent! Great ambience, great food. Romantic. Excellent service. Noise levels were low which was nice.
I ordered escargot, French onion soup and charcuterie board, and they turned out quite amazing. The cheese on French onion soup was not too hard or too soft, and the dishes were less salty than a lot of other French place. The live jazz music is definitely a plus. Check this place out if you are into music + French food.
Very nice. I loved it. The music was perfect for the night. The risotto was very good. What a perfect night for my birthday.
Pretty Restaurant, a bit too dark, and the live music makes it very noisy. Food was excellent, we order the recommended highlighted wine which was perfect. The service is very friendly but not warm and familiar. I would recommend it for quality French Faire.
Great food. Great service. Have been going for years and never disappoints. There was a live band there our last time and we had to switch tables because we were band adjacent and couldn’t talk but they moved us as quickly as they could.
Very nicely prepared French food in a lovely environment
I've been coming here for years. The food and service are fantastic. It's like taking a trip to France without every leaving San Francisco.
It was OK nothing special. Had Steak Tartar - not bad but not the best. The service was not good at all despite not many people at the restaurant. Disappointed in the experience. I had high hope but it was let down.
Really enjoyed our evening, the food was delicious, the service was very good and The ambiance was relaxing and enjoyable.
Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, with no rushing us at all. Delicious food
Cafe Claude is always fantastic and delicious!!
Absolutely amazing from the ambiance to the food, we fell in love with this place!
