Our usual waiter, Noah was not working today and he does a great job! The Waiter was very nice but not attentive. He got one of orders completely wrong. Then we got charged for the incorrect order as well as the correct order. Hope Noah is back next month when we meet for lunch.
Absolutely amazing from the ambiance to the food, we fell in love with this place!
We dined on a very hot day in the city. It was very hot in the restaurant as it did not have AC. I would have appreciated more frequent refills of water given the heat. Other than that the service was great. The food was delicious, price seemed reasonable for the taste, quality and portion. Would absolutely dine here again. It was a bit too dark in the restaurant so it made the menu rather difficult to read.
I had the trout and my friend had the duck. We split a goat cheese salad. The salad was very tasty. The duck also, but the trout was a bit blah. Service was good, but I would try another French restaurant first before returning.
We are a book group and have had trouble finding a quiet and nicely priced restaurant. Cafe Claude fits our criteria very well.
We went for my girlfriend's birthday din din and I notified them before hand when making the reservation. They made us feel so welcomed and everyone who attended to us wished her happy bday, they sang happy bday to her 3 times, they joked with us, gave us recommendations based on my food allergies, brought out champagne for us to cheers to on the house and dessert. It was so awesome and the food... oh my goodness the food!!!!! Go!
Server chewing gum, very aloof. No professionalism.
Onion soup cold, pate did not feel and taste fresh.
We ordered partale sole which is a thin filet,
What was served was a rolled price of fish, which
We enjoyed but was not what we ordered.
Cafe Claude continues to be a favorite place for dining in the city. Every detail is well conceived, and our extended family, all of whom love French food, agrees it is always delightful.
Delightful restaurant. I enjoyed every part of it. The trout was especially delicious.
The service was wonderful, but the duck was dry, and the Ahi salad was lacking in texture. the Glazed Pecan salad was fantastic!
My wife and I truly enjoyed our great experience at CAFE CLAUDE!!
We recently visited San Francisco, and after some research, went to dinner at Cafe Claude. It was incredible! Great atmosphere, music, food, and wonderful little location. A definite must visit for next time! thanks !!!
I have always loved Cafe Claude and went there often for lunch when I worked downtown. So I suggested it for dinner when my friends came visiting. They loved it - everything about it - and I'm sure when they return for another visit, we'll be eating there again.
Food and service excellent.
Salad disappointing. Steak was very tougj
French onion soup excellent
My favorite lunch restaurant in San Francisco. Delicious!
Hard to get a reservation but so worth it. The best soufflés!!
Great French food. Was a little dark inside. Servers were very friendly.
The host and service was so welcoming . The food traditional and delicious 😋 perfect with live music
Great food and ambiance. Live music was a pleasant surprise!
Food was delicious! Really impressed with the food, ambiance, service, and entire experience, will definitely go back. Steak tartare was stellar.
Good fond, good service
A little bit too noisy with the orchestra.
Such a little gem! Tucked in an alley and nicely decorated it is great for a special occasion or date night. Service was great and not rushed at all. Food was very good, loved my trout, and all so very French.
Seems to be resting on its laurels. Kitchen needs a re-boot.
Lunch menu is identical to dinner menu, and portions are large so come with an appetite. I started with an aperitif of Lillet Rouge (first time in years) with a proper lemon peel twist, followed by piping hot escargot under pastry puff "hats", then steak tartare, then salade maison, a whole head it seemed of Boston lettuce with a delicious champagne vinaigrette , and a dessert of chocolate mousse. Except for the soft whipped butter which didn't do justice to the bread, everything was superb.
The puff pastry atop the escargot was a pleasant twist from what I'm familiar with. Also had the crispy duck and would highly recommend it. Can't recall everything that was involved, but it all worked well together. Looking forward to visiting again next time in San Francisco!
Fabulous food, and the waitress was the BEST ever! it was such a special day to celebrate a very big award!
We love France and could not be there for our Anniversary, so the next best was to find a French restaurant in the newly defined "French Quarter" in SF. Cafe Claude was perfect down to the typical French alley location on Claude Alley. The best eateries in France seem to be down some alley where only the locals go. It was charming inside with choices to seat..a cozy room, in the lobby alcove where you can view all 3 areas, the main dining room with vaulted beamed ceilings with tables and half booths, and the bar/jazz room with booth and bar seating. Whatever mood you are in..you can choose your ambience. The food...was perfect! Coq au Vin was moist, escargot topped with pastry was fresh and new, onion soup (not salty-TY!), the Fromage plate...had to take half back to hotel! The trout was recommended and wasn't "fishy" but tasted like salmon, very mild. The skin was undetectable and like rice paper..the BEST choice on the menu I think. The bed of green beans had sweetness from the raisins and capers for salt. AMAZING! The drink menu was fun and recommend the Renaissance. Edible flower garnish. The interior of Cafe Claude is welcoming, the staff super friendly and Taylor our server, was helpful and considerate. The back staff was very attentive. I can't say enough, except at our business meeting the next day, everyone in the office had made Cafe Claude their local favorite for business lunches and relaxing after work dinners. The atmosphere, dining experience, and jazz played that night ranged from 30's to current and truly made you feel you were transported to France. Thank you!!
The food and service was excellent
We were treated exquisitely for our 24th wedding anniversary. A perennial favorite, for damn good reason.
Excellent service, food, music!
My waitress was excellent!
Great French food. As good as any restaurant in France. Been to France several times, and Cafe Claude is right up there!
Food is delicious and servings our generous. Can’t wait to go back and experience this excellent restaurant again!
We had a lunch reservation at 12pm. Perhaps we arrived too early? It seemed like the restaurant was still setting up. We were never greeted by our server. We gave our food order to the bartender because it didn’t seem like we had a waiter assigned to our table. Food came out fast and was very hot and tasty. It may be worth a second chance in the future, but in the meanwhile there are lots of other restaurants in SF that I would try before going back to Cafe Claude.
The reception and service were adequate. The seating was comfortable.
But the food was a big disappointment. My fish, in a casserole, and my wife's, a leg of duck, were absolutely dry and over cooked. Was that a left over reheated meals?
The food had nothing French about it. It was not worth to call the chef to complain!
First and last time to visit.
I have often enjoyed Cafe Claude. This time I was hosting my three young granddaughters. In spite of their ages (9 & 11) they enjoyed the meal. It allowed them to expand their food horizons. We sat outside, enjoyed the summer weather, and listened to the entertainment music as we ate. A very pleasant evening.
The food ranged from delicious to adequate, depending on what we ordered. The trout dish my husband had was fantastic, whereas my coq au vin was fine. We recommend the Salad Lyonnaise. The service was adequate. We had to wait 15 minutes for a glass of wine and 10 minutes for a Shirley Temple.
Consistently wonderful. Best steak tar tar in the city. Awesome wine list, they change the menu frequently. Just a gem!
Lovely French ambiance. Great food...all the typical French dishes you'd expect - coq au vin, escargots, duck confit, salads Niçoise etc. And all skillfully prepaed. Will return next time we visit SFO!
Nicoise salad looked nice (despite the canned tuna), but had NO taste. Salade Lyonnaise had no egg on it!?
