My wife and I spent 8 days in Napa and ate at some of the top-rated restaurants in Yountville, Napa & Sonoma and we agreed that Cafe La Haye was the best of the bunch. The quality of the service was only exceeded by that of the food. The cuisine is dictated by the season with a few daily specials. We tried a couple of them and they were fresh and superb! The wine list was excellent and featured well-priced local wines which was a welcome touch after so many meals with incredibly lengthy wine lists only offering expensive selections.
We just dined there and already cannot wait to return!
Delicious food, great service.
Simply the best place in Sonoma. Great food served in a cozy place prepared and brought to you by people who really like their jobs.
Great food and service, always a treat when I dine here, never disappointed
The good was delicious and the service excellent and we definitely recommend it!
Great food and great service. Best restaurant in Sonoma
For a supposedly higher end restaurant, we were disappointed. We came in at the last seating of the day, and the entree I ordered came with asparagus which does not agree with me. When I asked for a substitute, and I said ANY other vegetable would do, the waitress went back to the kitchen and came back with they could not substitute any other vegetable, and so I got none. Upon exiting I shared that experience with the owner who said that vegetables are paired precisely with each dish, and no substitutes were allowed. At the end of the evening, I would think there would be a vegetable from some other entree which they had not served and which they might switch, but no. The waitress then dissed me with little to no eye contact thereafter until she delivered the bill. If they ran out of some other vegetable that night, I am sure they could tell the next customer that they ran out of it or get some more before the following evening. What kind of attitude is that? We will not go back.
Cafe la Haye long ago earned its reputation for excellence. Nothing has changed today!
Food was phenomenal. Waitress & host so helpful, funny & kind. Overall fantastic experience.
Meh- service was forced friendly and forgetful. Food was not impressive- expected better. Beets were sour and Bolognese salty.
We elected to eat outside, so ambiance and noise not the usual five star. Excellent meal at Sonoma’s best restaurant.
Great food and service was special, nice discovery on Sonoma Square, menu is food you actually want to eat.
Probably our favorite spot in town. Consistently excellent food and service.
Really loved our meal here. I ordered the Quail and really thought it was spectacular. My wife ordered the chicken with Gnocchi and she really enjoyed the entree. We ended with the Flourless Choc. Cake and it was awesome as well. The ambiance is just so charming. Would highly recommend if you are in Sonoma.
Very good, portions were very decent. Excellent attention from the staff. Always a good choice and a favorite!
Consistently a great dinner!
BEST PLACE EVER’ staff. Food. The whole experience is first class.
My husband and I had an outstanding experience last night at Cafe La Haye. Service was attentive and impeccable. The scrumptious food was presented beautifully. Our table inside was perfectly located. We highly recommend!
We have been patrons for about twenty years. We always get friendly, great service and the food is so delicious. Very creative and imaginative sauces and presentation. The soup was hot and tasty to start. My chicken with gnocchi was so tender and well- seasoned. My husband loved the sole with sauce as well! Desserts are to die for. I particularly love the chocolate dessert but the other two offered are great as well. Highly recommended!
We had an excellent dinner of Branzino and fisherman's stew. The service and food were excellent. We will definitely return.
One of our first outings since Covid and it was the best of events. Excellent wine selection, food and service as always!
Very nice restaurant. We sat inside and enjoyed our meal at our own pace. Food was perfectly cooked. Started with beef carpaccio topped with arugula and 2 fried oysters. The oysters were tender with a light batter. I enjoyed the shrimp risotto, ate every bit. My husband had the pork chop - best one he's ever had. Enjoyed butterscotch pudding for dessert. The tables were more than adequately spaced.
We’ve loved Cafe La Haye for two decades. The owner is a gracious host and the food is generally excellent. It’s been a tough year for all in the restaurant business, myself included. I applaud CLH’s brave and solid return. Most of our meal was excellent. One decision by the kitchen seemed odd though and should be considered for the future. The dish consisted of Petrale sole, a duo of purple and seasoned basmati rice, pine nuts and kimchi. All was deftly prepared and delicious, but the kimchi was put on the plate ice cold which ruined the temp of the rice and fish and ultimately the dish iiself.
The other ding was not the service, but the server. She was robotic, cold, non engaging ... almost seemed medicated. She made the service happen, but it felt very awkward and unwelcoming. Hope she finds more suitable work for herself outside the hospitality industry.
Great food. Atmosphere was very nice and we were seated inside even though we had reserved outside seating, which was nice since it was a fairly cool night.
Great restaurant and they are embracing the current COVID restrictions with a nice group of outside tables and very limited tables inside.
My family made reservations here for our last night in Sonoma dinner. We were excited to enjoy a nice dinner and we really wanted to like this place and the food but something was definitely missing. The food was just okay and staff was cordial but not very warm or inviting. Considering the price point, we were disappointed. I think dine-in just opened back up so maybe that was a factor in the food and service. Our first night in Sonoma, we dined at Wit and Wisdom and the food, ambiance and service there was superior at pretty much the same price point.
We had an absolutely fabulous meal at Cafe la Haye. The butter lettuce and radicchio salad with white anchovy and egg was a great starter—some unusual and wonderful flavor combinations. We had chicken, rosemary shrimp risotto and king salmon entrees, and thoroughly enjoyed each. Finished with the Yuzu citrus cheesecake—melts in your mouth and not to be missed. And a memorable bottle of Rochioli wine. The service was just right. Oh, and it was our first time eating indoors in a restaurant in over a year, and completely comfortable. Tables are far apart and COVID protocols followed consistently. I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing food! We highly recommend Cafe La Haye!
Very cute store front. We were greeted immediately and seated at our reserved table. Service was great. We had a few good laughs with our wait people. Food was fresh, high quality.
Service was great but I guess our expectations were higher for this little place with the Michelin star history. We went to Taub’s the following day and had a superb meal that was even better we felt, for much less no et and a cozier atmosphere.
Our favorite restaurant in Sonoma, California! It’s the best food and experience.
The food and service was amazing. I had the pork chop and my husband had the salmon. Both were cooked perfectly, delicious and fantastic. Great wine selection and even with COVID and being seated on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant there was still nice ambiance. We will definitely be back next time we are in Sonoma.
A perfect experience. Beautiful evening on the outdoor patio. Safely spaced tables. Everyone masked when not eating. Skilled friendly service. Great wine choices at very fair pricing. Everything we ordered was delicious. The owner had taken a weekend off - I’m sure well deserved after a year of hell - and his daughter was a wonderful fill-in. Don’t miss Cafe La Haye!
Great to be back after a year away. A nice outdoor setup and attentive service.
Outstanding food and top notch service from start to finish.
Make sure to try their salmon entree, it was as good as it gets. Perfectly cooked and seasoned.
First time dining out at a restaurant in a year and it was perfect!! We had three different dishes and each of us was delighted with what we had. Service was right on; not too much and not too little. Table spacing was very good and we all felt comfortable and safe eating there. The cheesecake, which we were all looking forward to, to didn't disappoint.
Great birthday dinner and drinks. It was a bit cold but that’s to be expected with only outdoor dining. They had heaters and they worked so I don’t blame them for the cold. We’ll be back again soon!
The food and service at Cafe Lehaye never disappoint. Simply delicious...
Love our dinner. I called to see if we could get in earlier and got a text and a call that we could come in even earlier, which we so appreciated. The dinner was amazing! Loved the chicken with the cream sauce and phyllo filled mushrooms/guyere. And the cheeesecake was the best I have ever eaten. Even the latte was sublime. Very enjoyable.
