Cafe Pro Bono
I arrived at the top of the lunch rush and was allowed to choose exactly which table I wanted...even though it’s outside of the area they staffed. My lunch started late due to my partner’s late arrival, and then the whole lunch was again delayed due to a previously scheduled business call. The owner or manager just patiently waited for us to finish our meal and our extended conversation. We were never rushed. Food was of course most delicious. Definitely a repeat.
Awesome every time!
My favorite dish at Cafe Pro Bono is called Susan's Downfall. Don't get the appetizer, splurge and get the entree instead. I promise you won't regret it. The service here is great too. Has been as long as I've been eating here, some close to 15 years now.
Love this restaurant! Had a surprise birthday party here and the staff was fantastic! Food was delicious, especially "Susan's Downfall" - Cheese & Herb Ravioli, Gorgonzola Sauce, Toasted Almonds - which is to die for! Service was attentive, waiter was on top of everything, timing was great. Owner let us stay after closing time as long as we didn't mind the dishes getting picked up around us, which we appreciated. Owner was so nice to accommodate our group of 10 friends!
Wonderful dinner! Service and food were impeccable!
Good casual dining spot. Friendly service. Food was reasonably price and of adequate portion size.
Fantastic venue for the retirement party I organized. Everyone loved the food and the atmosphere.
Went here for a business dinner. Noise level is fine so we were able to get a bit of disicussion going. Staff was excellent. Beer selection was limited. Very surprised, no italian beer like Peroni. Food was o.k. Specifically asked for the chicken to be well done in my fettucine w/chicken. Waiter said its smoked but cooked but sometimes people think it's raw. I should have taken that as a warning. Both my colleague and I ended up picking the chicken out of the dish. It was disgusting. Others in the group said their food was o.k. but no one was raving or planning a return trip. Hard to recommend.
Been going here for over 20 years and it remains one of my favorite restaurants ANYWERE. Great food, ambiance and atmosphere. A gem.
Most definitely. This is such a great neighborhood gem--totally fit for foodies! Found Cafe Pro Bono on OpenTable...so glad that we found it. Great homemade pasta, outstanding cocktails, best wait staff. Veal was outstanding! Susan's Downfall (a must), Tagliatelle with smoked chicken, Braised rabbit--- all of it was to die for. We almost went back the second night to have it all over again. Desserts: get the Panna Cotta, smoothest ever! Our part of 6 ate it all up!
The menu has a nice variety to choose from. Their nightly specials are particularly good. The service is A-1. We were seated promptly. Desserts were delicious. Wonderful ambiance. Couldn't had a better dining experience.
Had a good experience at the restaurant. Ordered salmon pasta, linguini with clams, and veal. All were done well. Portions were right size.
Wine selection was good.
Great service and great food. The pheasant and steak are always excellent.
Delightful experience. Staff were amazing, courteous, kind. Food was delicious
The entrees were generous portions, beautifully presented and delicious. Had Susan's Downfall pasta as an appetizer to share for 3 people, then a frizze salads with beets, veal marsala, veal picatta and duck entree. Service was gracious and efficient. We love this restaurant. They also have spumoni for dessert.
Food is ok but expensive for what’s it’s worth. Good wine list.
We love this restaurant. We have never been disappointed in the food or service. The staff is very friendly and attentive without making you feel you have to hurry.
This has been our go-to Italian restaurant for over 20 years, and the rigatoni tastes just as good today as it did the first time we tried it. Salient feature of Café Pro Bono, aside from the food, is the service. The our waitress congenial, efficient, and witty. We will stop by the next time we're in town.
Our server was elegant and attentive and warm.xxxx
Was packed on a Saturday night and waiters hustling. 3 of us loved our paso, one not... tasteless. Service was slow but they did the best they could all considered. Applause to friendly welcoming staff.
Wonderful meal. I had the Greek chicken and it was lemony with a crispy skin. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the rabbit was delicious as well. I highly recommend this restaurant
As always dinner was terrific, the staff as always was helpful, but on Saturday evening the noise level prevented conversation.
Just love the friendly staff and the great food
We had a great experience dining at Cafe Pro Bono. The staff was super friendly and gave us great service and the food was amazing! We had a business dinner for 9 people and everyone was very satisfied afterwards. I can really recommend dining here
Perhaps our expectations were too high! Cafe Pro Bono gets so many great reviews that we were excited to try it. Overall the food was just average and the wine list, while well priced, equally average. Server was very good however.
Cafe Pro Bono is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, and you never walk out hungry. We never fail to order the delicious wild boar sausage, and Susan’s Downfall ravioli appetizers. The wait staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. It’s obvious they sincerely care that their customers have the best dining experience.
Café Pro Bono is always a reliable experience. We have been going there for many years.
This was our first time to Cafe Pro Bono. The food was very tasty and had a good presentation. The service was great.
Reliable neighborhood restaurant with consistently good food, excellent acoustics (ceiling tile and carpeting) and friendly, warm service. Perfect spot for a quiet dinner with my wife.
Have had lunch and dinner there several times with husband and/or work colleagues, and have always been extremely pleased not only with the quality of food, but also the service provided by the entire staff. Truly a "go-to" place for business as well as personal gatherings.
Great place for my bus husband’s bd. The ambience was pleasant: menu is interesting (rabbit!) : service was right on.
Cafe Pro Bono is consistently a wonderful dining experience: excellent Mediterranean cuisine done in a fresh healthy style; attractive intimate ambience; exceptionally gracious and responsive service.
We like Cafe Pro Bono. We have noticed, however, that prices keep going up.
My family and I took my mother out to celebrate her 87th birthday. a small restaurant That had a very comfortable vibe every Employee that we came in contact with was friendly and professional our server did a great job and all the food from the bread to the appetizers main courses and dessert we ate was very good we also enjoyed some of their specialty cocktails that were delicious I would recommend this restaurant to anybody
The dinner was fabulous. My wife and I had the salmon on a rice dish which was as good as we had ever had. Our daughter had a perfect lamb chop and got to take the bone home to her favorite dog. Our son and his partner were happy with their choices. The service as always was discrete but all one could ask, and as always we were not hurried to leave.
Love this place. Always good. They really care. The old world wine selection is fantastic.
Went in a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday. For a Tue evening, it was quite busy, and it took a while for our server to get to us. But once we got started, it was an awesome experience all around:
-- Drinks were good (bellini, martini, wine)
-- we pigged out on the pastas, and each tasted wonderfully fresh with herbal flavors: rigatoni, tagliatelle, cappelleni, buck wheat pasta; we ordered the ravioli for appetizer and it was super-rich but also super-tasty
-- desserts were just right (cheesecake, chocolate decadence, panna cotta)
-- service was very friendly
On the way out, we noticed Condoleeza Rice was dining at the next table, and our server told us she is a regular. Another table has been labeled for a regular who has been dining there for 25 years!!
Really enjoyed the experience, and will definitely be back...
Enjoyed it very much. Service was excellent.
Excellent food and service handled with perfect timing before evening show at TheatreWorks Lucie Stern.
Cafe Pro Bono was an excellent experience in every way. The meal was the best we had had since we were in Paris three months prior. The drinks, food, service and ambience were all top notch. The heirloom tomatoes in the caprese salad were extremely fresh. The lamb skewer was the best lamb I've eaten in ages and perfectly prepared. There is a good cocktail and wine list. The desert of vanilla gelato in a berry sauce was a perfect finish.
