Had reservations for a bday dinner, arrived 5 mins early and ended up waiting 30 mins past the scheduled time. Reservation would only allow to book for 6 people so we did, but then we were sat a table with 4 extra seats that were empty. I wish i could of invited more people for the bday dinner. Food was less than average except the cheese appetizer was good. Server wasn't friendly at all and I would not recommend this place to anyone I care about. And unbelievably noisy we had to almost scream to hear anything.

I made a reservation weeks in advance and was in communication with the restaurant leading up to the dinner. This was a birthday celebration dinner for myself and five of my closest friends. There were 15 ppl total. The sat is outside on the patio (which was fine) but at two different couch areas. We table because but they could not accommodate. We enjoyed ourselves, but we’re surprised when the bill came. They charged us a high percentage of gratuity, which was to be expected, but they also charged a service fee?? Worst of all, they delivered birthday shots for the entire group, which was supposed to be on the house, but we later saw on our bill that we were charged $135 for our birthday shots. I’ll be calling the restaurant for an explanation. Would never recommend CALA for groups.

We visited Cala on Thanksgiving Day. So first of all so happy that someplace with such great food, service and ambience was open for brunch and not packed to the gills or serving mediocre holiday meals. We LOVED it! The drinks, while not inexpensive were delicious. Our server was awesome (though we were outside for 10 minutes without water or menus so, not sure what happened there but it was a beautiful day so no real complaint). The food was all yum! Our group had the Calabrian chicken sandwich, the Mediterranean mezze platter and the Cala Turkish Eggs. We all loved every bite and what we couldn’t eat we took home because it was all SO GOOD! We will definitely be back.

So booked with open table and included in the notes it is my wifes Bday. Went to the hostest stand let her know we were here for my reservation wich was my wifes birthday. She plopped us at a 2 top next to the bar with a bunch of drunk idiots. I asked to be move and she did move us outside to a wonderful spot. The pictures make you feel like this is a nice beautiful atmosphere but it is just your usually Scottsdale drunkfest. Food priced a little to high. This is a spot for the boys to get drunk and watch football. This is NOT a spot for a beautiful dinner out. Also I laugh they brough over two shots with out asking then “comped” them. I dont even drink alcohol. I laugh I ordered and ice tea and here comes the waitress with a alcoholic drink. Seems like they are open to sending people home to drink and drive. Not revisiting.

We took my son from NYC here for brunch and missed having the DJ. The pancakes were cold too 😢. We love this restaurant and will be back, but hopefully on a more active day. We love the flaming cheese!!!

I had a lovely dinner with my father until the end. Some random girl came up to my table and started saying derogatory things in my face! Your security didn’t even do anything! I asked her to get away from me and show some respect as my father was with me! Get your customers under control!!! Your security and management didn’t even apologize and we spent a decent amount of money there! I will never go there again! Awful and the next time someone screams in my face I will call the cops!

The food was good. The vibe was like a loud raucous club, not a fine dining experience. We waited for 20 mins after being seated and no one came by our table until we flagged someone down. They did comp our appetizer because of the issue. The valet costs $15, fyi. I feel like it’s a typical south Scottsdale type of place so if that’s what you like, you will probably enjoy it.

Cala was on our list to try and we finally got around to it. We really enjoyed our evening there. The food was unique and wonderful as were the original cocktails. The indoor/outdoor atmosphere was a treat we enjoyed. My wifes pasta was a bit on the spicy side and she could not finish it due to that. Sshe would have appreciated a footnote to that effect. My pork tenderloin was perfect as was the flaming appetiser and the buttercake dessert. Clientele is youngish, but hey, its Scottsdale on Friday night. Service was very good and all in all, we would recommend Cala and plan to return.

Unfortunately, the food reminded me and my date of a very expensive Applebee’s. The presentation was good, but the food was not. The staff was kind the establishment was pleasing looks wise. I think that they need to look into getting a better chef or menu.

Dinner with friends. Service was hit and miss. No bus service to clear plates. Asked for gluten free choice for cheese dip (instead of bread). They had it but sadly we never received the veggies. After asking 2x for them. Music was a bit too loud hard to have conversation. Food was excellent which is why we would go back.

We were excited to return to Cala after we had been once and loved it. We were seated at the bar which was strange for an intimate birthday dinner, but our waitress greeted us pretty promptly. Unfortunately, after ordering drinks and appetizers, we did not see her for another 30 minutes as she was clearly slammed and overwhelmed. The portions have definitely gotten smaller in the few months it has been since we last dined here - $15 for whipped ricotta and 2 pieces of bread. We were given 2 more pieces when we asked for more and were charged an additional $4 without our knowledge. When our entrees finally arrived, it was painly (literally, we burned our hands on the bowls) obvious that they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time, and again the portions were 1/2 the size from previous experience - we once shared 2 plates among 3 people and this time around, both of us were still starving after the 5 bites of pasta (which was delicious). I was not aware that the restaurant becomes a club atmosphere at night. Music blasting so loud we could barely hear each other, lights flashing, and people running around like lunatics. We were not able to find our waitress anywhere and asked a busboy to bring her over, to which he grabbed the manager. Kudos to him, he was extremely accommodating and took a drink, the extra bread, and one of our meals off the bill for us. Our waitress was also very sweet and knowledgeable, it was just clear that she was very overwhelmed. I don’t blame her at all for the situation. Overall, it was simply disappointing. The atmosphere was not the inviting and calm paradise the restaurant markets… It was a club serving snacks. I’m not sure if management has changed recently, they were unprepared for the snow birds, low on food, or what. As a former waitress, I don’t like to complain or leave bad reviews, and don’t want our waitress to get penalized. I just wish my boyfriend had picked a different restaurant for his birthday :(

We came here for our anniversary on a Saturday night and we hadn’t properly looked at the location as it is in the middle of old town Scottsdale. As you can imagine on a Saturday, it was very rowdy. Everyone was using it as a pregame location. For ambience, it wasn’t exactly the romantic dinner I was anticipating as we could not hear each other over the music and crowd. We did really enjoy our food. The flaming saganaki was excellent, the feta tzatziki was very nice and fresh with all the veggies, and the pizza was exceptional! If we went back, we would definitely go on a weekday at an earlier time.

Seated at a table where none wanted to serve. Tables were so close together, we couldn’t get in and out. Finally, we got Madeline as our server. She was great. We asked to taste 2 wines which were offer by the glass. Several minutes later, a big man comes up to the table and says he wants to answer our questions about wine. I didn’t have any- just wanted to taste the 2. He gets too close, slits on my arm as he speaks and insists on picking the wine for us. The wine was just ok. Not really what I was looking for. Our server took it off the bill, which was very generous and nice but I would rather have chose my own. It was strange. Food was good. We had the cauliflower, meat sauce pasta and baked chicken.

We had a 9pm reservation and did not get seated until 10pm. We were standing by the hostess desk and they kept “forgetting” we were there. They also would seat people who walked in much later than us. To make it up to us, they gave us glasses of champagne and a few free appetizers once we finally got seated. This was a nice gesture, but two of the apps did not taste good and weren’t items we would have ordered otherwise. It was not worth the wait.

I seldom leave negative feedback, but my experience was notably underwhelming. Despite arriving on time, we were met with a dismissive hostess and a 41-minute wait at a noisy, crowded, standing room only bar. The lack of apologies and the dismissive attitude of the staff were off-putting. Once seated at a cramped table near the loud bar, the service didn't improve. Our waitress was slow to take orders and the offer of a free dessert did little to compensate for the long wait. We often had to seek assistance from uninterested security staff, adding to our frustration. The ambiance at this restaurant on a Friday night is that of a loud club - not the "elevated" dining experience advertised. Expect multiple large, bachelorette parties to be happening mixed in with your typical Scottsdale "bro" crowd. The food, including tuna tartare, hummus, meatball appetizers, pasta, and cocktails, was just average. In my opinion, the poor service and 41 minute reservation delay further diminished our enjoyment of the food. Perhaps it would have tasted better had the first impression not been so incredibly bad? Upon paying our bill, we were disappointed to find no adjustments for the inconveniences experienced. Additionally, we were left to pack our own leftovers in plastic containers hastily provided by the waitress. The only positive aspect of Cala was the aesthetically pleasing Mediterranean decor and the prompt, helpful valet service at the entrance, though it's worth noting the $15 valet charge, which I suspect might be associated with the adjacent hotel Senna House? Overall, Cala failed to deliver the refined dining experience we had hoped for so I won't be returning and recommending this place.

Despite sitting outside, the noise level was way too loud for normal conversation. Our waitress was a challenge to find all evening. Drinks took a long time to show up. Food took forever to appear, in fact, our initial order was ‘lost’ and was less than timely to finally arrive and was no longer warm. This was a second attempt to try Cala as Beau McMillisn was a favorite chef at Sanctuary. The valet service is slow and expensive. Due to neighborhood parking, valet is almost a necessity. I see no reason to return to Cala.

We reserve a table at 9:45 they let us in at 10:05 And we waited for the server for 30 minutes and they didn’t come to our table
