California Fish Market Restaurant
Delicious scallops, friendly staff combined with a beautiful day in San Francisco made for a perfect time. Panna cotta was a great finish to our lunch. Love being able to dine out again.
This was just what we needed after months of not going out! Such a cute vibe in the little alley, food was amazing, service was great - LOVE LOVE LOVE
Anniversary dinner 11 years
They lost my reservation. I made it on open table and I had the conf email To show.
They couldn’t find my reservation
They put me on the very back on the only open table on the very back of an ally. No heather. Nobody they offer that table would take it. I know because I saw several couples refuse to be seated on it. They basically abandoned me and forgotten me. Never refilled my drinks.
Food took forever to come to the table. No joke.
Worst experience I’ve had in SF. I do not recommend.
Oh and the cioppiono was not good at all.
We wanted to celebrate Valentine's day at a restaurant with outdoor dining and heat lamps. California Fish Market had both and the area is lively, yet kept within the covid guidelines. We sat at a table on the side (alley) which was better than being on Green St since the wind was blocked and fewer people passing by. So glad we made reservations as it was a pretty busy night. The complimentary bread was chewy but it was cold and the butter was even colder so it was impossible to spread. We started off with sauteed cozze we had fettuccine pesto with scallops (wanted pesto sauce instead of their alfredo) and linguine pesto with assorted seafood (substituted the spaghetti for linguini and also changed the sauce to pesto). It was nice of them to allow us to substitute. We like pesto sauce, but unfortunately, the pesto sauce was a bit bland. Even with parmesan cheese, it only helped a little bit. I guess it's not bad if you're watching your sodium intake. Maybe their other pasta sauces have more flavor than the pesto. However, they do give enough to satisfy hungry tummies. The scallops were chopped up into small pieces.
I think I'd rather have large scallops, but the scallops were perfectly cooked and were tender. We didn't have room for dessert and had a bit leftover as well. The ambiance is nice with the heat lamps keeping us warm from the bitter cold wind.
Food was great but standing crowds spilling over from the neighboring pizzeria was problematic.
What a gem! The scallop crudo was one of the best bites in my entire life. Oysters were creamy briny goodness. The lobster ravioli melted in my mouth. Best meal!!
Fantastic food and good service, will be back again!
The food was subpar and expensive for the lack of flavor. You can get better food in many different places in SF. Service was great though!
The food is incredible. We were unfortunately at a table that had a lot of traffic that was right in the front near the door, which made the dinner semi loud/distracting. However, it was incredible and we love the sav blanc. 10/10.
Delicious food, generous portions, attentive service. Great place to go for outdoor dining
Nice new addition to North Beach. All of the dishes were a little bit on the salty side but the actual quality of the food was great. Definitely recommend the Dungeness crab pasta! Prices are also very affordable for seafood, especially compared to other places in SF.
A friend and I arrived 15 minutes early to our reservation and were greeted immediately but they were very busy. We had to wait and we were seated 10 minutes after our reservation. Service was okay, our waitress was overwhelmed but the waiters and food runners were very friendly. Food was AMAZING! I got the catch of the day (King Salmon) and asparagus. Will return.
Great experience again at California Fish Market! Friendly and dwelcoming, excellent server, delicious food! We had the griglia mista with halibut, salmon, scallops, prawns, and calimari..perfection! We started with black spaghetti and bottarga...amazing...a Covid -safe Italian vacation in vibrant North Beach. Love the heated outdoor seating! Grazie to Francesco the owner and his warm and capable staff!
Fantastic, flavorful food! Inventive menu, great to sit outdoors and felt very safe with the barricades between tables.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. We dined outside and we felt safe dining. Tables have enough distance and everyone wore masks. The food was well presented and was very fresh. No cocktails- just beer, wine, and Prosecco.
Everything was very fresh. Oysters came out in a bath of melted ice water- which invaded our Kumamotos. Food was a bit underseasoned. Squid could have been cleaned a bit better.
Lively atmosphere- especially on a Friday evening.
First time trying this restaurant. I learned it's only been open for a couple of months. The food was great! We tried the Halibut Crudo which was delicious. We also had some really fresh and yummy oysters. My friends had the pasta and I got the Salmon. Friends loved their pasta. My salmon was a little overcooked but flavored well. Next time I'll ask for them to make it on the rare side. Service was good but there was a bit of a struggle getting the check right. It was a noisy night as this is next to a sports bar and there was a Niners game at the time. Not much they can do about that.
Wonderful oysters and seafood options.
Good simply prepared food and excellent service
Great food! Great vibes!
Loved the food and service! Lively place. Thanks!
We were sat in the alley unfortunately so we couldn’t really take in the atmosphere. The waiters were flipping tables so quickly they clearly didn’t want anyone to stay and enjoy their time. Our food came out within 15 min of our reservation time. I ordered a second glass of wine and before my boyfriend could order another beer they brought out our check so we couldn’t linger long and enjoy ourselves. We were there for a total of 40 min, which is not long for a sit down dinner. The tables beside us was seated after us and our before us too. Disappointing service.
Great time. Super nice staff. Good food.
Dishes were good to very good though one was too salty. Server was quick and helpful Decent value priced wine list. Recommended.
Staff super friendly and food was good.
It was super busy and so although they had a table for us we sat at the bar so another couple could take it.
The person who helped us was super kind and helpful :)
Don’t let the cheesy name fool you! This hidden gem is one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. I go here about once or twice a month. Service is on par every time. Great wine selection.
Here are my GO-TOs
Risotto (A must) even if it’s not on the menu. They’ll make it for you.
Squid ink seafood pasta
We ordered from their special 2020 SF Restaurant week menu. All the dishes were delicious. Service was attentive & excellent. We had a wonderful time. We will return to try their regular menu soon. Highly recommended!
Service was great. My 8 friends and i were there after BBB. I had linguine with crab but the crab tasted frozen (and its crab season). The calamari, brussel sprouts were excellent, as well as the salads. My friends pappardelle bolognese was delicious as well as the clams, and squid ink pasta. I would go back but not order the crab linguine. Oh, it was super noisy at 8 pm but died off by 9:30. This pop up place needs better decor. It has been there for a few years but still looks barren. It needs a “pop”!
Pasta Pop -Up has a nice simple menu. The place was cozy, and the service was good. The basic pastas were pretty good, but I was surprised they didn't have more light and vegetarian options. The brussell sprouts tasted like balsamic vinegar, and should have been crispier. It would be nice if they had more dessert options.
The pesto was actually watery and the wait staff was overwhelmed even though the place was empty
Great service, Serg was incredible - welcoming and obliging to help provide the best experience possible. The food was delicious, house made and absolutely wonderful. The price value was great, the perfect place for a date night or a dinner before a night out with friends.
Great place for pasta. It fills up fast (especially around the 7:30p dinner time). We will be back.
Delicious homemade pasta. Excellent, personalized service. Very Italian feeling. Perfect for the neighborhood
Very welcoming and warm staff. Loved Mom from Rome. Food was delicious. Pasta was fresh, interesting and perfect proportions.
The waiter was friendly and helpful. However it took a long time to get started, even after we told two of the staff we were ready to order. The restaurant was only 1/3 full and it was Saturday night so they must have been short staffed. Once we ordered the food came quickly. My Pasta Carbonara was very salty and the sauce was thick but oily. It didn’t appear to be made of cream. The panda cotta was tasty but very thick, unlike most panda cotta. More like a bland crime brûlée. The raspberry sauce it was drenched in didn’t taste very good. It was very loud! I won’t be going back as there are many wonderful Italian restaurants in the neighborhood.
Classic food!!! So good!
