The food is very good and the setting is lovely. I felt that the staff tries to “upsell” more than necessary without stating prices. When one is entertaining, it is helpful that when the staff tries to sell an extra glass of Champagne (@ $80/glass) or truffle nan (@ $80 for four,) that the prices are announced to the guests as the “specials” are recited. The present tactic is generally used by restaurants to intimidate guests into spending more than necessary. I was made to feel cheap in front of my guests for asking prices of the server when my total bill for four was already over $1200. Not nice, Taj hotels! You need to re-train your staff and be honest with your clientele. Your present policy is unacceptable.
This is the best kept secret in San Francisco! Food is creative, tasty, and delicious. Service is top notch! Quiet and beautiful ambient that one can hear each other easily.

Amazing food. Loved the concept of Indian spice and influence on California ingredients. We got the Spice Route menu. The Black Cod was our favorite dish (the cod was melt-in-your-mouth perfection). Scallop dosa was very interesting and tasty -- I was concerned the dosa and spices would overwhelm the scallops but it didn't. Lobster curry was delicious.
While the beginning of the meal started out slowly (took time for the menus to come out) and have the drink cart come to our table, everything else about our meal was well-paced. We enjoyed the food and the amount of variety that was available to choose from for each course. Our experience may have been slightly different because we went for a birthday - but the birthday treat was also great and did not taste like a "throwaway" dish that some other places may present.
Overall, we had an amazing experience and would love to dine here again.
Very nice experience. But given the price point, the ambience could have been better. felt just a tad bit better than ordinary.
Overall a fabulous experience. Highlights were the great service, the numerous super tasty & interesting amuse-bouche, and the wonderful food. Like many of the best restaurants in SF we found it quite expensive but we were more than happy to pay the bill at the end of what was a lovely evening

Went for anniversary. Only Michelin star restaurant with vegan menu. We love it. Will continue to go.
One of the best dining experiences we have had in San Francisco, or elsewhere, in some time. Great attention to detail. Service was flawless, shining from the first amuse bouche to the last chocolate. Visually appealing, dishes were complex but not fussy with the influence of Indian spices and ingredients. Simply put, everything was delicious. This is an exceptional restaurant.

A luxurious experience. The staff of actively insuring that everything is just right without being a bother. The brunch prices are not out of line with sit-down lunch in SOMA, and a good value for a fancy meal
Beautiful dishes - excellent service - perfect dinner
Came here for an anniversary dinner because we heard the food and service were excellent. The restaurant lives up to all its positive reviews. Food was different, delicious, and memorable. I would recommend this place for special occasions.

Good food and service. Some dishes excessively spicy overbearing other flavours. One of the shellfish dishes (lobster) came with remaining pieces of shell. Overall, good food, rich flavours but not sure at par with other 2* michelins.
Inflexible to allergies and unbending on their tasting menu. Great wine service. Poor value for the price.

Prior reviews reported that this was a solid, first class dining experience. It certainly was. We were warmly greeted and escorted to our table. Our waiter quickly arrived and explained the menu options. The food and service throughout was excellent.
The ambiance was lack luster, it was empty. The waitstaff did not seem to have a great knowledge or connection to the dishes. The dishes were not spectacular or noteworthy. For the price tag of the dinner we were expecting more.
We did the four-course menu, which was *stunning*. The presentation was excellent, and taste was even better. They served several amuse-bouches too, which were all excellent.
We were a little disappointed with the wine pairing, though. The 2005 Spätlese Riesling was astonishing - certainly the highlight of the night - but the other pairings were less memorable. The French syrah had a lovely, rich aroma, but tasted hollow, not at all what we expected to be paired with lamb. The rioja and the Grüner Veltliner were good but not particularly memorable.
We would definitely come back for the food, but probably not for the wine pairing.
