Welcome to DC Capitol Square Bar & Grill!
We are pleased to announce that we are the first family restaurant serving the Hill East neighborhood. Located at the corner of E Capitol & 15th St on Historic Capitol Hill. The Cap Square Bar & Grill wants to be your place for reconnecting with friends and family as we reemerge from the pandemic.
DC Cap Square Bar & Grill is a reflection of our diverse community, and our cuisine aims to reflect that diversity, blending culture, great food, and ambiance for everyday dining as well as important celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, retirements, and rehearsal dinners. We hope that every visit to our restaurant will bring out the nostalgia of our historic Washington DC community and provide a relaxing place to enjoy fresh, healthy food, whether that is breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We will strive to provide authentic American Cuisine and comfort food that will appeal to a broad variety of tastes with a touch of elegance and sophistication.

    The Capitol Square Bar & Grill was a very unexpected pleasure. The outside was well lit and the ambiance was great. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food was very good as well. I thought that it was a little pricey and the fact that they put a 20% tip onto the bill prior to my paying was a little surprising. I would definitely go back again and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my freinds and family.

    Someone need to update the hours of operation for the online reservation. I was able to make a reservation at 6:30pm which they closed at 7pm. The waiter did apologize for the inconvenience and did accommodate us since we were there. Overall the service and food was good.

    Went for the first time this past Sunday. They only serve the brunch menu on Sunday which ultimately was fine. We started off with the mango sidecar (can’t remember the exact name of it, it was Mamba something) and that was great! We then had the deviled eggs with fried chicken and mumbo sauce. They were AMAZING. I was hesitant at first but it was delicious. We had the lamb chops entree which were good as well. Overall, great experience and will definitely return.

    My wife and I enjoyed our date night. We came after brunch for the full experience of service and style. There wasn't many people on the top floor with us. Seems like the stairs were a bit overwhelming for our waiter. No complains.

    We loved it! It was a perfect brunch experience with friends. Our reservation was honored with immediate seating, our waitress was informative and attentive, and the food was well presented and delicious. The restaurant was not very busy during our visit, so we were able to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of this attractive space. We sat inside, but the outside seating area appeared attractive and comfortable, too.

    Everyone from the hostess to the bartender were very pleasant and informative about the menu! We would definitely go back... drinks and food were awesome and portion sizes were adequate!

    Service was horrible. Wait time to get drinks was 30+ mins and the restaurant had very few people in it. Sever kept forgetting to bring basic stuff. Drinks were not good at all-watered down and not made correctly.

    They are eight months in business they need to work out a few more kinks and logistics. The ambience and staff really make up for some of the experience. I would try happy hour before I say no to this place. As they try to find their rhythm, I will give them another try. They were not prepared for parties of 6 or greater at this time for brunch with a 2 pm reservation.

    I just don't know where to begin. The food took forever to come out. When it finally did my husband and I placed a to go order. Didn't find out until an hour later the waiter forgot my husband's. We ordered bottomless mimosas but had to switch that because it took forever to get refills. I was charged a different amount (higher) than what was on the bill. When I requested a refund for the over charge was told no and the best that could be done was 20% off my next visit... sir I'm never coming back. After speaking directly with the manager I was able to get a refund. Additionally I was continually told my to go order was minutes from coming...it took close to 30 minutes. Ordered chicken and waffles, chicken had no seasoning but the other items we ordered were pretty good. But for the couple of mimosas we had I would rate them 10/10.

    Outside dining very nice. Definitely need to add more plantains to red snapper entree. For a Caribbean dish 3 plantains is just not enough. Otherwise, entree was delish!

    The ambiance was nice. The food was mediocre. The oxtail were extremely fatty and the crab cakes were bland with too much filler. The staff was also attentive.

    Had a terrible first impression. Service was super slow on a Wednesday afternoon and the waitress didn’t even let us know what was going on until the very end when we were complaining to the manager. 20% gratuity is automatically included so whether the service sucks they get their tip. Then on top of it the food wasn’t even all that, just okay. Highly disappointed cause I was excited to patronize this establishment.

    It was a lil smaller than anticipated on the main level but they have an upstairs. The food was tasty and such a large variety including African dishes that I want to try. Great restaurant for the neighborhood 👌 I will return.

    Service was horrible, we were there for over 2 hours and only rcvd our appetizers, there was 1 waiter for the entire floor. We walked out.

    They have a whole menu of African food that isn't advertised on their online menu. It was amazing! So delicious. The lighting is a little bright and the there is a wall with a giant TV. We ate upstairs and there were a couple other table and it was quiet. Overall it was great! I highly recommend.

    Had a great time and wonderful meal. My wife and I had the bottomless mimosa which made the experience even better. I actually had two meal. The waffle with some eggs and bacon hit the spot. Plus I also had to try the salmon and grits (I had not eaten dinner the night before) which was absolutely perfect. My wife had chicken and waffles which flew off her plate. Overall a great meal and lovely setting. We will be back.

    The food was great and they are staffed with the nicest people. I recommend the chicken wings. They are different than any other wings out there and are delicious. The steak for 2 was good. Prices are high for the neighborhood but hopefully they survive.

    What a great addition to the neighborhood! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! Friends and I sampled quite a bit of the menu from appetizers to salads and main courses. Lamb rack got two thumbs up. Don't miss the crab cakes. They are legit! We'll be back soon!
