Central Park Bistro
Nice ambiance and attentive service. My husband and I enjoyed Little Gem Caesar salads followed by a delicious salmon entree (perfectly cooked), and meatballs. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Would love to come here more often but find it a bit pricey.
I booked Table saying “belated wedding”, but restaurant didn’t note or help me celebrate them. The groom asked for the bill, was given it rather than me, the person who was acknowledged as having made in the reservations.
We loved the place, our server was wonderful and we had a terrific meal. We lingered and we’re not rushed or ignored. Can’t wait to return!
Second visit for me but many more for the Mrs. We went with another couple and had a nice, quiet dinner. We tend to eat early and we missed the big crowd this evening. Octopus appetizer is the best octopus ever! Perfectly cooked and enough to share. We had the swordfish which was lovely. All in all, a very nice evening.
Came with girlfriends earlier in the summer & food was ok but service was great. Came back for a birthday dinner as they have a nice side room that can accommodate a large group. Nice ambience, not too loud & good service. In our group 4 really liked their food and 6 of us thought it was just ok. However, nice wine offerings.
Need to get air conditioning. Most customers are complaining
Extremely slow service but great food
This is my favorite restaurant in San Mateo/Burlingame area. My siblings from San Francisdo, Walnut Creek and Lafayette ate here for the first time and can't wait to return again!
Outstanding service and delicious food!
Good. Good service. Good food.
Another lovely dinner - good food well presented. Salmon for one of us and heirloom tomatoes and gnocchi for the other. All well prepared.
How can you have a shrimp bisque soup with no shrimp in it?
Waiter rushed us with our order. Lobster ravioli had hardly any lobster. French fries was soggy.
Great food and excellent environment. Only reason it's not 5 stars is it was a very warm day and it was a bit too hot inside the restaurant
Neighborhood gem! Thoughtful staff and excellent food, space and customer service
Great restaurant, crab cakes and seafood pasta was amazing, lobster salad is a must!!! Will be back
Can’t say enough great things about this establishment. Excellent service and the food was amazing like always.
First time here. The food was great with a variety of selections on the menu. The service was terrific.
Talk about a "Neighborhood Gem"!!! Central Park checks off all the boxes!! From the excellent food with classy presentation and appropriate portions to the full wine list with the best Maker's Mark Manhattans in the city to the friendly and very professional wait staff, Central Park Bistro should be on everyone's list of restaurants to try in the city of San Mateo. You know we will return!
The food was good but for some reason our waiter was less then attentive. It was also extremely hot in the restaurant. It was a very hot day and they did not have air conditioning.
The food is always flavorful and well served. The staff is professional, welcoming and alert.
We are happy to keep coming back since it is a restaurant that has all the elements of a
top notch place.
This place is a hidden gem. The real standouts at our last meal- the crab:lobster cakes with mango and balsamic (a perfect blending of flavors) and the chocolate lava cake! Heaven.
Everything was perfect. 4 of us got 2 salads and they kindly split them for us. Everyone's order was EXCELLENT. The wine list had our favorite red
Stellar food and service very worth the prices.
I order the same thing every time I treat myself to lunch. The lobster salad and a glass of Rombauer Chardonnay. Just wish I could do it more often!
Great and very delicious food and good service. I highly recommend this place.
A little rushed, but the food was FABULOUS! We had the crab cake appetizer, shared the scallops and risotto and finished up with the sorbets and the lava cake. We live in San Jose and it made a great place to stop on the way to pick up from SFO it’s only 8 minutes to the airport. They do shut down the kitchen when it gets slow so don’t go at the end of the business day like we did.
Excellent place, good for family or just friends getting together.
When I entered the rest. with my guest I informed the waiter that I had a reservation. He checked and verified the reservation but did not bother to read the request. I requested seating by the window. he took us all the way to the back of the rest. where it was dark. I reminded him that I requested seating by the window. the only table available was one for six people. we took a booth in the front part of the rest. Our waiter was from the start "surely, curt and rude". To say the least, he was NOT friendly. But I will admit he was efficient. I ordered spaghetti & meatballs BUT had to ask for bread. His demeanor made my guest feel
uncomfortable. Both myself and my guest enjoyed the food. WE had asked for separate checks. My bill was $30.00. I gave him a Discover Card. He brought back the Discover Card and said that they don't take Discover. (WHY DIDN'T HE KNOW THAT?) I left the table for a moment, and when I returned AN $80.00 plus bill with someone else's credit card was on the table. He had given my credit card and my bill to another table who signed my receipt. He was not apologetic and didn't seem to care. My guest said that she would not return. IF THE FOOD WASN"T SO GOOD. I WOULD NOT RETURN!
Reliably wonderful food and service. A go-to San Mateo gem.
Good selection... had 2 appetizers and they very very satisfying. Try the lobster salad!
We choose to celebrate special occasions at Central Park Bistro. The food is outstanding as is the wine and the cocktails. The wait staff are very attentive and friendly. I requested a birthday dessert for my daughter when I made the reservation, and the waiter brought a lovely glass filled with chocolate mousse/cake topped by a candle. Everything was excellent!
We had a fantastic dinner this past Saturday night. Caesar salads were excellent and double cut pork chop with the sauces and sate spinach--delicious. Excellent and profession service from the entire wait staff. Lady who was tending bar made two of the best Manhattans I have had in long, long time!!
This was great for lunch on our way through San Mateo to another destination. Only complaint was too much oil drizzled on my pizza made the crust soggy on a few pieces, but otherwise, tasty food. We had crab cakes, which were just okay, but perfectly cooked and had good sauce with them, and the pate, which was good except for overwhelming fennel in the toasted/crostini type bread served with it. My lamb and tamarind pizza was DELICIOUS. I think I would say no pesto next time to save the crust, though. My husband had the pizza with truffle oil. It was a similar problem for him and overwhelming truffle smell, but he loved the flavors. Waiter was attentive without being overbearing so our service was excellent. It was only us and two other customers at the time, though. Overall, this is a pretty solid stop for lunch.
First time there for dinner. The food was excellent and we liked the decor as well. Upscale and comfortable. It is a bit on the pricey side. Dinner with a starter, main course, and no dessert for two was $200 ncluding 2 drinks and 2 glasses of wine.
I would have given the place 5 stars, but the service was impersonal. No warmth from the server and no one even came by to ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. When I paid the bill there was not even so much as a "thank you". That was a turn off to what otherwise seems to be a good restaurant.
We love Central Park Bistro for all occasions. My husband has had board meetings there and we love taking friends and family there anytime. The mushroom pizza and cáptese salad is a perfect start, but we’ve never been disappointed by the food.
The staff is always welcoming, friendly, and attentive. I highly recommended this restaurant for business meeting or special occasions and if you have 6 people or more I believe you can request the wine room, which is a private intimate spot.
Delicious food! Quality and taste was excellent. I had the lamb and it was flavorful and perfectly cooked.
Food was decent service was lacking
Took the family to celebrate multiple special occasions and really liked the menu, food & service. I ordered the sea bass with a bit of trepidation because the fish was served on a bed of vegetables that included fennel, which I do not like. The veggies formed a sort of sauce that was delicious and a perfect compliment to the fish. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, including the baby back ribs. I wouldn’t order them at an Italian restaurant, but they were good nonetheless. There was something for everyone on the menu, which is no small feat given that we have several people on restricted diets. We’ll be back.
Everything was great. One guest slipped and fell in dining room.
