Charlie Palmer Steak Napa
Always hunting for a great omelet, and they nailed it.
We have eaten at this restaurant quite a few times and were pleased with our meals. However, this meal for everyone at our table was one of the poorest restaurant meals we have had in a long time. Even the wine - a pinot that was suggested turned out to be wimpy. We will probably try this restaurant again someday, but it's going to be awhile with all the other good restaurants in town.
Great meal. Ambiance was ok. Felt like I was at a hotel lobby restaurant, which it was.
We are consistently disappointed with this chain of restaurants. It all made sense when we realized Aureole in Vegas was also Charlie Palmer. We had bad experience at Charlie Palmer in Napa, Vegas and also Aureole in Vegas. We won’t make the mistake a 4th time, dumb on us.
We had to have a good steak at least on one night. We chose correctly! No complaints and we all had some great steaks. Splitting salads worked out well. Even after the split they were large! Will we go back. Yes!
The food was not as good as it had been in the past. For a steakhouse the best dish we had was the chicken. We had ordered a Filet, a hamburger and a chicken. Filet was fatty and tasteless, the burger was a pasty texture, the chicken was perfect.
The wait staff should understand that the customer knows what they are ordering. They should never say that this is what we serve and that's it! Not right for me and I would never return to this restaurant
Absolutely awful! Wasn’t greeted by hostess and sat there for 15min when they clearly saw we were waiting. The waitress was extremely rude, had no personality and should be fired for no customer service skills. It was obvious she didn’t want to be there, if you hate your job that much just quite. The brunch menu was very limited and they weren’t accommodating. It made sense why the place was so dead. Due to this experience I will never try a Charlie Palmer Restaurant ever again.
Meal very good. Wine pairing horrendous...16.6 % alcohol red....yuk
A great way to spend Husbands birthday with friends.
The service and food were amazing. My wife ordered Alaskan King Crab legs and scallops and I had the filet. Our sides (gratin potatoes and creamed spinach) were delectable, too.
Everything form the beginning to the end was great except my steak it was over cook and I couldn’t enjoy it completely
The staff were very accommodating and on point. Megan was amazing evening assisting with our reservation at Sky & Vine.
This is a typical Steakhouse. Food and service were outstanding. Steaks were cooked to perfection. We very much recommend this restaurant to those looking for this type of dining experience. One nice aspect of their service is that there is no corkage fee providing the wine display a Napa Valley designation . Cheers!
Our server Kim didn’t know what the special cut dinner was then proceeded to tell us we couldn’t get our first wine selection that was part of the special cut menu price until the salad was served even though we had oysters that were brought out as an appetizer. Then when our steaks were brought out because I’m a fast eater I had only one glass of red wine which was offered with the special cut dinner Kim refused to give me another glass while my friends were still seating and drinking because I had finished my entree and told me that was the rules. It was very embarrassing. I spoke to Ian the manager and he offered me another glass of wine but it was too late the damage had been done to our evening. I believe the manager should have comped our whole table dinner based on the server ruined our night.
Great menu, great staff, fun and very enjoyable expereince
Outstanding and I will return.
Somewhat disappointed. Didn’t enjoy the drinks (Bloody Mary). Food choices limited. What was available was disappointing. Risotto was cold and gummy. Potatoes were over cooked. The lamb at the carving station was dry and over cooked. Pancakes had been sitting too long. Dessert bar had no options other than donuts, which weren’t good and carrot cake (good).
The bright spot was the roast beef. It was cooked to perfection. The bacon was excellent.
Not an enjoyable Easter brunch for our family especially for over $300.
Great service and wait staff! Very attentive. I had the Snake River Flatiron which was very good although I ordered it medium and it came out rare, I did not send it back however! Partner had the Prime Rib which he enjoyed immensly. He is a Prime Rib aficionado and was impressed. Side dishes were decent. Most impressive was the service and the meat! Overall a nice experience for a special occasion!
my bone in ny was way over cooked, not medium rare as I had ordered. They took it back and a young waitress brought me out a bone in ribeye. I immediately said this is not what I ordered, she said "yes it is". 8 people at our table heard her, we nearly fell off our chairs. Another couple in out group split a steak, theres too had to go back and was redelivered. I was the last one to eat, everyone else was done with their dinners. It was hard to believe for the prices we usually pay. we go to 4-5 star restaurants weekly for 20+ years, this has never happened before.
Fantastic place. Can’t wait to return
It was really busy and had a slow start to service but expected on a busy night. They recovered extremely well. We had an a great meal and excellent service.
My wife and I absolutely loved our meal here, from beginning to end.
Got the “cut of the week” 3-course dinner which was excellent! Steak was cooked to perfection and it was a lovely evening! Thanks!
We had a great late lunch at 2pm and service was exceptional along with the food. Definitely go there if you can.
Staff was amazing, almost too attentive. Beautiful venue! My steak was amazing, salmon not so much as it had no flavor, not sure where the bacon was on the truffle and bacon twice baked potato.
We were so lucky that the chef cooked for us, it was amazing! It was an experience we will never forget. The food was amazing.
Overall we had a good experience. Both the servers were excellent and over all the food was very good however I think the price was higher than the experience
My wife and I had dinner on a Sunday. Given the reputation of the owner, and the prices charged, we were disappointed in both the food and service.
We started with Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and Baked Oysters. The Tuna was outstanding, but the Oysters lacked flavor.
We both had Fillet Mignon for the main course, one with Chimichurri and the other with Peppercorn Cream. My wife found the Peppercorn sauce to be overly spicy, so it was changed for Red Wine Natural Jus, which she found to be much better. Both of our fillets were perfectly cooked to our order, but we found them to be dried out and lacking flavor. We had Potato Gratin for a side dish, which was excellent. We did not stay for dessert.
The service was mixed. It started out well. We were seated, ordered and received drinks, and the appetizers were served, all very well paced. After completing our appetizers, there was a very long wait for the fillets to appear. We had ordered a 2nd side dish, but it never appeared. When we were finished with our meat, we flagged down another waitress and requested she cancel the 2nd side. When our own waitress presented the final bill, she acknowledged that the charge for the 2nd side dish had been cancelled, but never apologized for its absence.
The wine service was also mixed. We took advantage of the free corkage for 1 bottle of Napa wine, which helped to ease the sting of the high prices. Our waitress offered to decant our wine. However, our waitress let long periods of time pass without checking in with us, and we often had to refill our wine glasses ourselves.
If you are looking for a steak dinner in Napa, there are other better options.
I was very disappointed with the food and service. I ordered salmon and it had no flavor and the asparagus was soggy and over cooked. My boyfriend and I were there to celebrate his birthday and the service was shocking. We were having an intimate discussion and a server helping our server came up to us and asked if we were feeling ok several times. We don’t understand what her business was asking if we were feeling ok. Following, our original Server came over and said I’ll tell the kitchen to box up your food and grab the check. We had just ordered and hadn’t even gotten the food.
We were astonished by the way we were treated. We thought after speaking to the manager she would have addressed it. The lady manager was very inexperienced and we didn’t feel like she took our concerns and experience seriously. She also said she would bring a birthday dessert on the house and we didn’t get anything. At that point we paid and left.
We will be going back to Napa but definitely not this restaurant. Overpriced, poor service and food isn’t anywhere near good for the price. I felt like our privacy was evaded and felt uncomfortable. There are too many great places to eat at in Napa so I wouldn’t waste your money here!!
Had dinner for a friend’s birthday and were not disappointed. We tried everything from starter salads to steak, scallops, all the sides, cocktails, wine and dessert. Special mention to the beet salad, gnocchi and twice-baked potato, and butterscotch bread pudding. I ordered my petit filet medium rare and it was like butter. The wine pairing with the cut of the week special was a Chardonnay and petit Syrah and they were both delicious. Our server Zack was attentive and knowledgeable but not overbearing and we appreciated his dry humor. Excellent dining experience!
The food was excellent, our meals were outstanding and quite large portions.
The ambiance was very nice but rather loud, hard to carry on a conversation. Our table was up the stairs behind the bar. It was the second table in so the TV was visible and the cheering for the basketball game was a bit annoying.
Now to the service or lack there of. Our server Ben was terrible. If it wasn't for the young lady who assisted him our experience would have been horrible. She brought bread and water, then Ben finally appeared. By then we were ready to order. I chose the Cut of the Week, which comes with wine during the first two courses. Ben poured me a sip, literally a sip and walked away. When he finally retuned with the glass of wine my husband had ordered, I asked for more wine which he did bring finally. I was enjoying a beautiful beet salad and we were chatting, apparently I wasn't eating fast enough for Ben, as he passed by the table and saw I had finished, he remarked "good thing you finally finished your dinner is coming" and indeed, there was a young man with our entrees. That was pretty much the last time we saw Ben. He spent an amazing amount of time with the three top next to us and didn't as much as glance our way to see if we needed anything.
The clincher to the entire evening was when a person came by, plopped the dessert that came with my dinner down and left. We had to get Ben's attention, so my husband could order dessert. He asked "what do you want" never mentioning the desserts or offering a menu.
In an area such as Napa, one should not assume just because you didn't order an expensive wine that you're a nobody. Don't assume or judge, you never know who someone might be.
As local Napans I don't know if we will return as the service was so bad.
It put a damper on our evening for sure.
Food was mediocre, pricey steak for size. Potato, twice baked, was weird! Loaded w/ truffle oil, not good! Dessert, coconut cake, where was the cake? Three tiny cubes of cake and we didn’t know what we were eating, the presentation was horrible! Should have gone to Coles Chop Chop House....
This was our second time here.. and this time we brought friends. After all, good things should be shared! Delicious seafood and steak (of course) and a fantastic white burgundy. Can't wait till next time!!!
It was a mixed experience--service was excellent, personable and attentive. Started with salad that was over-dressed and greens were wilted. Tuna tartare was good but the crackers were too think--not delicate enough. Salmon was excellent both in terms of the type of salmon and the way it was prepared. Filet mignon was overcooked which is too bad because the cut of meat looked good. The dessert was amazing. Love the no corkage for Napa Valley wines, but will need to think about returning.
I have it four stars because service was slow and my salmon was cold. All the food tasted excellent.
It also was a very loud restaurant, but that might just be what some like.
We enjoyed the three course lunch special, and one of us had the burger and fries. Everything was perfect, the meat tender and delicious, fries crispy, wine paired just right. Service was excellent as always. We have found Charlie’s to be a great choice for a special lunch, with consistent quality and service.
Waitress was excellent but food just ok.. my salmon was over cooked (dry) with not much flavor & the steak my son order (his birthday celebration) was just ok... Brussels sprouts were just ok no kick to it... the bread pudding had flavor but dry... the steak as well as the bread pudding is suppose to almost melt in your mouth... anyways after spending over $300 plus tip for 3 people the food was just ok... we could’ve gone to Restorante Alegria spend half of that & have a perfect meal there... I was somewhat dissapointed.
