We really enjoyed our lunch at Chercher. I;ve been to their downtown location, so was anxious to try Bethesda. They did not disappoint! The portions are very generous and the service welcoming. The Lamb Stew and House Special Tibs were excellent. I look forward to going back with a bigger group to try more things.

Try the sampler, which will feed two people easily. The chicken and the lamb dishes are well prepared. The spongy njera appears to be made from darker wheat, and is quite tasty. Nice to have Blue Moon and Samuel Adams on tap!

Exceptional food, nice ambiance, and cozy (Bethesda location). Food takes some time to arrive, but is well worth the wait. I highly recommend the 10-item Deluxe Vegetarian Combo; the beets are particularly good, and I've not seen them at other Ethiopian restaurants. And if you are a pescatarian, the Fish Dullet (chopped tilapia with olive oil, onion, garlic, lemon, and green pepper) is a spicy treat!

Had a wonderful dinner here last week when we decided to finally stopped in here after walking by many times. We started with a fresh salad with greens, bell peppers and avocado, plus a crispy lentil-filled pastry. As mains, my husband had sautéed strips of savory beef while I had a spicy Tilapia fish and vegetable dish, all delicious. The fish was a little spicier than I would have liked, something the waiter told me they can easily adjust if mentioned when ordering. The spices are a cross between Middle Eastern and Indian food, to me. They do serve the flat, spongy Ethiopian bread used to scoop food if you are eating the authentic way, I'm not a fan of it yet. Ethiopian food doesn't normally beckon us in, and it must have been over 15 years since the last time we had it. The ambiance here is upscale and very mainstream American, with standard tables and chairs, knife, fork & bread plate place settings. The waiter gives you the option of individual entrees or traditional communal-plate food presentation. There is also a reasonable wine list and full bar. Ethiopian decor is limited to a few wall hangings rather than the highly atmospheric immersion decor at other places. The staff is very sweet and solicitous, we will certainly be back!
