Just perfect and staff and food amazing
If you want perfect service, perfect food, perfect ambiance, and a chance to meet one of the best chefs George
Chen then you should go to 8 tables. Was our second visit and will go again and again.
Great dining experience. One of the singular best I have had.
The experience is fantastic and they find a great balance between traditional Chinese food and Western food style. The dishes are creative and amazing tasty! Highly recommend to have a try if you are interested in Chinese food and want to figure out how Chinese ford can be cooked in Fine Dining restaurant!
Each course was magnificent and the wine pairing was outstanding. We especially liked that several of the courses were described by the young chefs who prepared and served the dish. There was some confusion amongst ourselves as to how much of a tip should be left since there was already a 20% service charge added to the bill. Any thought of just charging a flat price for each meal which includes all charges?
Had dinner there to celebrate my birthday with my husband and son. Excellent food and service. Great service from Mr. Luis Huerta. Highly recommend this place and will definitely go back again. Hope to meet chef George next time.
Outstanding in every sense of the word. Great dinning experience.
Truly wonderful to experience Chinese fine dining. You really can’t find it anywhere. I also loved the exquisite china and dining wares because they looked like beautiful museum pieces.
Very delightful. An experience everyone should try. Definitely a buck list must do. The experience was very enjoyable and delicious. Service was impeccable and very attentive. Not a dinner for the faint at heart. Cost can be discouraging but worth a try for an experience as it is not cheap.
The tasting menu was a full experience in itself. Ever dish had its own flavor and they were all a great experience in itself. No dish stood out more then another as they were all delicious and had something special in its own.
definitely a dinner for a special occasion. Thanks for a great experience.
Eight Tables is a very special place with very special cuisine to celebrate a very special date!
We go to over-the-top-expensive restaurants for our birthdays in lieu of gifts. We had a wonderful dinner at Eight Tables - unusual and wonderful food, perfect service. The extra touches made it extra special - while waiting for our bottle of wine to reach the proper temperature after fetching it from the cellar, the sommelier poured complimentary (and complementary) glasses.
But the reservations process was not up to the standards of the meal. When I booked I asked for the chef’s table. It’s clear on OT that it’s not guaranteed but I heard nothing back. I messaged again. Finally I called and it took days to hear that yes, we could have a chef’s table experience. Then on the day of the dinner I got the call saying that they couldn’t offer it. (For a good reason.)
Yet somehow the quirkiness ended up being endearing.
Amazing!! Can not wait to go back again!
We had a mixed experience.
What was good - service, laid back atmosphere, nicely decorated restaurant, some of the dishes were quite good. Presentation
Some of the dishes. Some unusual spice combinations that weren’t very tasty. The bill ended up being shockingly expensive for what we got. We were told that service over $100, did not cover gratuity. 2 glasses of wine each were over $100. Total bill for 2 over $700. When a meal is this expensive it gets graded on a curve against others. This one didn’t stack up.
Good not great. Odd flavor combinations, but beautiful presentations. I choose flavor over presentation. Won’t be back
Everything about our experience at Eight Tables was excellent until the bill came and we were told that they added a 20% service fee for "the house" and that it was not inclusive of tip for our servers and wait-staff. So any additional tip we wanted to add would go to them.
Our group was shocked by this, as it is not readily apparent that when they say they include a 20% service fee that is generally understood to be tip for the staff not "the house"!
After a wonderful meal it left a bad taste in our mouths to feel like we were being taken advantage of in this way. It is unfair to patrons and to servers for the house to collect a service fee tip that is not part of gratuity.
A wide variety of flavors over a dozen well presented courses. Ser ers need to slow down the explanations a bit.
Wonderful service with special ambiance save the entry.
However, it is hard to say that they were delicious. A work in progress.
Positive: Preparation by chef(s) of the food/presentation were "five star" level. The myriad of the food textures was outstanding. Negative: Their new roll-out menu, our meal took four hours. The opening was spectacular to the taste buds. Though presentation was superb, we agreed some courses were "subtle and bland." and unfortunately the 9th course (Dong Po Rou) was never delivered to our table. Sara seemed to be the most cognizant / knowledgeable. The serving of food was 'very delayed.'
An amazing evening of VERY fine dining. Not our first Tasting Menu focused restaurant, but the first with a decided, but subtle Chinese influence. While the entrance is a bit of a surprise, the interior is beautiful, soothing and quite comfortable. NO crowding, it has EIGHT TABLES, but each can seat easily four and possibly 6. You begin with a tray of nine small dishes taking you through a progression of tastes and textures all based on Chinese tradition. Quite an education. Then you start the main event, each dish served with an explanation and any necessary instructions. The pace was quite leisurely, so we could talk at length about the current dish without to immediately beginning the next. About nine courses in all. Great creativity, elegant presentation, tastebuds entertained! And NO bowl of steamed rice, not with this kind of Chinese meal! And to have the complete experience, I recommend the available wine pairing. ONLY IN SF!
We were given a gift card from a family member who is a foodie so we were super excited. It did not disappoint! This was an amazing culinary experience and although it is very pricey, I have already recommended it to many (mentioning the price tag of course). What a treat the food was but the service far exceeded any expectations.
A beautiful and unique experience. Red chrysanthemum taste like rooibus tea. It didn't have any of the regular chrysanthemum teas at all(I was disappointed).
Couldn’t have been better. Attentive service, unique and delicious food, excellent wine pairings and beautiful architectural style of the restaurant makes one want to return. We definitely will.
Wonderful restaurant. Highly recommend as a business dinner, special celebration or a romantic dinner. Great food, wine list, ambiance, and service.
Fabulous in every way!
Just too long an event and a tasting menu that was far too extensive - the bites were so small that one could barely decide on the taste. Dinner should not be an endurance test. After two hours, most it spent waiting for the next course, we were all ready to leave but had to endure another hour and a half. I can’t judge whether the food was good or not. Certainly not exceptional. Perhaps the most expensive dinner I have eaten in California and not one to be repeated. Two stars was generous.
What a fantastic evening the Tasting menu was fantastic beginning with the Grand Amuse of nine plates of small bites from spicy to savory to sweet. My guest opted for the wine pairing that went with the courses and was enthusiastic about them all.I had a tea pairing that I enjoyed as well. Each course was a delight .George Chen came out and introduced himself to us and the other diners as he worked the 8 tables The staff was very welcoming pleasant and helpful throughout the dinner.Surprisingly one of my favorite plates was a plate of vegetables that were delicious and spiced wll.I couldn't be more pleased with the evening
This is a once in a lifetime dining experience. Chef Chen offers inspired food in a serene environment. I will be back.
Outstanding dining experience! If you are in San Fran and trying to find a restaurant that is one of a kind, you need to try Eight Tables. The service, food, and ambiance is unlike any other restaurant in town - if not the country.
