Amazing food. Great spot, fun. Our waiter was terrible. Condescending and not helpful in the least. Very disappointing as I have had other great experiences there.
Great! Amazing dumplings, firecracker chicken...perfection.
Great place for newbies to Chinatown. I grew up going to hole-in-the-wall and banquet places there and always enjoyed trying to find them, but this place is next level. Large, branded and shiny . . . sure to entice new generations and less adventurous food crowd.
Very good food and nice place, but a bit noisy and we were sitting at the bar even though we had booked in advance
Food was fabulous, waiter was horrible.
Great food, service and atmosphere!
To me a unique restaurant! 🥳
Thank you for a great experience! Our server was lovely!
Buenísimo la comida, el lugar y el servicio.
Overall we had a great night because it was mostly due to the company we kept. Still 5 Stars! Loved the wine, bar staff, wait staff and food #leftovers
Would recommend again
China Live was great, stuck to the sea food which is what I’ve found to be their best items. Awesome wait staff very authentic and warm. Great food and presentation, and we timed it right with no drunken loudmouthed tech yuppies fouling the atmosphere at this hour.
We had such a great experience, the food and atmosphere was amazing! We sat at the counter and got to watch the staff make dumplings. The service wasn’t anything to write home about, but I still highly recommend.
Date night! Nothing fancy or special
I love this place so much. Every time I go, I order way too much food because every item is more spectacular than the last. It provides me with an amazing meal the next day!
best quality food - however, the restaurant is too noisy
We had a great experience at China Live. Our waiter made excellent suggestions, and adjusted quantities to accommodate our group of 6 people. The food was delicious and full of flavor. it is a loud and lively restaurant, which makes it a little hard to hear anybody who isn't sitting right next to you.
Very nice place and the food is very good. A bit overpriced however.
Food over salted and there were not a great variation in flavors. We did enjoy the Impossible meat dumplings in a broth. Vegetarian pot stickers were flavorless and dough was tough
My wife and I loved our dinner there! Great service, exceptional food, vibrant atmosphere (not too noisy). Great seats at the kitchen counter - watching the chefs creating masterpieces! Fully recommend this place. And the store at the front is a must for purchases of wonderful oils and sauces!
Great place for groups. Ingredients are fresh and dishes are well-prepared. Fun, high-energy atmosphere.
This was a disappointment. Despite glowing reviews, I put China Live on par with PF Chang’s at best. It’s huge and they pack people in there. It is incredibly noisy and I had to speak loudly and lean in to hear my boyfriend talk. The Marco Polo noodles with minced pork was not good. It has bucatini noodles which are tubes. They are obviously prepared well in advance and plopped into the bowl so the texture and temp reflect this. The meat mixture was far too salty. The shrimp and scallop siu mai was also very salty. The xlb wrappers were chewy, not delicate, and the meat filling lacked flavor. I had to say something to the server and we were comped the noodles, which I am thankful for, it wasn’t his fault. With so many great places to eat in the city, as a visitor I’m bummed out that I came here.
Food great, some mistakes in service. Super load. Could not talk to our guests.
Very Good Chinese food. Original tast!
As expected from a Chinese restaurant the noise level was like going to a rock concert. The seating is either fun or distracting depending if you want to observe from the counters at different stations or not. Wok and hot food, dumplings, bar , dessert and salad all have own spaces . Menu is a little confusing but wait staff was helpful. I was there on a slow night so service was fine. 4 huge dumplings huge plate of green beans (not as spicy as advertised)and lots of pork fried cubes- enough to share. food good but the crackling pork was more expensive than I wanted and the Peking duck sandwiches looked okay. Once is enough for me. Not your classic SF chinese
Thé place is nice, clean, and confortable. My deception is that we had a reservation for 9pm and had the options to reserve until 9h45 but it took at least 20minutes to take our order (even though the restaurant was far from being full). Once we ordered the waiter came back 5 minutes later to let us know that a dish wasn’t available because the kitchen was closed. How come you can book but half of the menu won’t be available at that time? I think that they should have offer an extra to apologize for this. Rest was alright!
Noise level is deafening, not lending itself to a pleasant meal with friends trying to have a conversation. We were at a very large table for eight people. Food choices are difficult if you are trying to maintain glutine free diet. This was my second time and food quality was much better the first time around, about 1 year+ ago. This time was a disappointment.
The food was delicious and had a lot of variety. The location had an interesting set up with a quirky gift shop we enjoyed and lots of bar seating around the perimeter.
We have gone several times and today we went for lunch because we thought they were going to be having a free potsticker making class. It got canceled but we are driving all the way out so we still had lunch. We are really disappointed because we had so much fun at their Christmas cookie decorating class. The food at China Live is amazing. We love everything we’ve ever gotten departments, the green beans, fried rice, and these yummy crab stick five things that are delicious. Highly recommend.
Great place for restaurant week.
Great service, great food! Our waiter knew it was my son's birthday and was very helpful in guiding us on how much food to order plus the "don't miss" dishes.
We went for a fun celebration of our Anniversary and weren’t disappointed. We loved their setup of stations where different kinds of dishes were prepared, I.e., wok dishes, dumplings, etc.
The service was efficient and friendly. The food was upscale Chinese food done so deliciously! We regretted eating too many dumplings so we didn’t have room for the noodles which were recommended.
We will be back when we next travel to SF. We heard they may be opening a store in Seattle.....hope so!!!
Went here for SF restaurant week and it did not disappoint! We were a group of 4, so we were able to pick & choose separate plates, and added the blistered green beans to our order. The food was delicious, the crusted pork buns & crispy garlic skinned chicken among our favorites. Service was super fast and friendly, and very family style. Would definitely recommend!
The snow pea beef was very good . The rest of the food was average at best. There were 5 of us and with no drinks the cost was $220 with tax and tips.
We've been thinking to try China Live for a while. Finally, we did today but it's a big disappointment with the food, the service, and the management. I can't believe how people would say this is the best Chinese restaurant in town?! It's a place serving American not really authentic Chinese food. Sorry :(
Food is quite good, service was terrible. This was the second time in a row with a terrible service experience, which makes me think it's systemic. They really need to work on their front of house as the food is worth the trip.
Went for lunch during restaurant week. Good value considering the normal cost of eating here. Lots of good choices. All of the dishes were excellent & portions were generous.
China Live was great! Even one of our super picky eaters enjoyed it. We ended up doing family style instead of the Restaurant Week menu - though everything on the special menu was also listed on the regular menu. I enjoyed every dish. Thank you!
👍 It was really good!
The food is great and the atmosphere is very fun. You must have a reservation unless you want to be put at a communal table. Also, service is extremely slow. This has been noted in other reviews. Nothing will happen fast, expect to wait a long time for everything. Our service only visited us about every 20 minutes. If you plan to be alright with that then it is a fun place for dinner although extremely expensive.
Inventive fresh turn on tradition. And a great spot for friends from in or out of town.
A birthday. I’ve had lunch and dinner many times at China Live. It was by far the best food and best service. The service has been inconsistent in the past.
