Chula Taberna Mexicana
The service and food were good (we tried five different types of tacos as well as a couple of different margaritas), but it was so loud that my husband and I could not speak at all. As well, despite my reservation of a standard table, we were seated at a high table, which proved to be quite uncomfortable after an hour. We were relieved when we were able to leave!
Great Mexican food, great service and the Margaritas were fantastic.
Was a bit on the busy side, so our server wasn’t able to give us their full attention (ie: took a while to take our order and fill our drinks) but other than that great as usual.
We had a great, food was great, really good vibe we have already recommended it to friends!
Chula never disappoints when it comes to tacos. The shrimp ones are my favorite, followed by fish and zucchini. The ambiance is awesome and the service is great. Can't wait to enjoy their 2 level patios in the summer.
The customer service was awesome, the wait staff was very attentive and efficient. The ambience did not disappoint so authentic Mexican. I was disappointed in my Tacos though they were cold I have had better Tacos elsewhere, the enchiladas were delicious
Great service, price, and food. We went for Valentines and they had our table ready and explained the promo of the night. The taste of the food was amazing and margaritas were fantastic. I am coming back for sure.
Our server was so friendly and efficient. She made it a lovely experience. Excellent margaritas, so many tacos (the crispy zucchini ones are a triumph) and then churros with ice-cream. Splendid.
This was our first visit to Chula and we will DEFINITELY be back! Firstly, the Margaritas were magnificent. My friends had the classic and I had a passion fruit Margarita. The food was even better. We tried the pork belly, zucchini fritters, street corn and a variety of tacos. For dessert we had the churro sundae and the chocolate tres leche pudding. Everything was spectacular and our server was unbelievably sweet and accommodating. Can’t wait to comeback.
Thank you for the lovely service for my birthday!!
Always an amazing experience! Can't wait for my next visit.
Wasn’t sure I’d like anything on the menu and I love Mexican food however .... took a chance and it was absolutely delicious... going back again to try something new.
A very friendly and local Mexican restaurant in leslieville.
Food is good, but the portions are small. Good service.
The food was very poor quality the enchilada we received consisted of low quality store-bought white tortilla shells a small amount of cheese in between which had been microwave. It was the least effort I've ever seen go into a dish presented in a restaurant. It could have at least been grilled for the price. Additionally the bartender was our server she had a very poor attitude also the music was Extremely Loud we came at 5 there was no one in the restaurant after we were seated the bartender turned up this club music with loud bass and questionable lyrics We asked that it be turned down which it was 4 like 1 Song. Then it was back to thumping Bass seemed to be enjoying the music which was clearly her priority. A difficult atmosphere to enjoy conversation or digest your food in the food is also priced very high given the quality that you receive
Unfortunately the food was not that great and neither the value or quality of the food was worth the price we paid for 4 people. Very mediocre.
Lovely servers, helpful and funny! Quick service, great food, great atmosphere.
We tried all the tacos and they were not very good. The chicken was all dried out and the toppings had so much sauce on them it was closer to a soup..the taco shells were all soggy and slimy. Worst tacos in the city.
We were seated really close to another table and the restaurant was pretty empty. We asked to be moved and were told they would be getting busy.
Awesome food and service! My new fav Mexican restaurant in Toronto!!!!
My spouse and two friends met up here. We ordered the chips with all three dips and they were delicious. We also tried the cactus dip and it had a cheesy texture with a little citrus tang also delicious. We split the fish tacos (3) and an enchilada between 2 of us which was more than enough. Service was very good, great suggestions on the food, dishes came out in good time.
We had the featured Mexican Flan dessert as well as the pineapple cheesecake. They were very tasty but very petite and I felt a little over priced.
I was a little disappointed that they only had standard coffee to top it off instead of a traditional Mexican roasted blend.
All and all a great evening, would definitely go back.
Fun place with great food and terrific staff. The drinks list is great with lots of different mescals and tequilas along with good inexpensive wine. The tacos are delicious with some unique versions and on Tuesdays it's Taco Tuesday so the tacos are all just $5 each!
We love this place. The service is always friendly and food is great. However this time around the food could have been a bit hotter. It felt like it sat in the kitchen for a while. But otherwise, nothing but good things to say
Second time going because we love the food but the service is just awful. No one cleans the table after 80% of the plates are done. Getting an order in always a task
Love the experience and our friendly + fun server. Would definitely return! Thank you!!
Saturday night, 8pm with a reservation and it took almost 10 minutes to get acknowledged once I arrived. Cocktail was about 20 minutes to come, food arrived first, and the Paloma was almost all ice. Water took forever to be refilled also.
Fantastic drinks, food and staff!!! My favourite spot
This restaurant is incredible. The food was well presented and incredible tasty. I recommend anyone who loves Mexican or is interested to reserve, and enjoy!!
Amazing! Will definitely go back!!
Great food, good and reasonable pricing, service was a little slow but otherwise a good experience
This is a good restaurant to go for drinks. The food is good - and the portions are very generous - but you don't sell Enchiladas with flour shells. That's a burrito!
I was really looking forward to coming here as the reviews looked amazing.
I made reservations a few days in advance to ensure I would enjoy a rare night out. As I was running behind I called the restaurant and advised them. When I got there I was a seated at a table in between two other tables approximately 10-12 inches apart. The tables were so close together my butt literally wiped the neighbouring table as I tried to slide between to get to my seat.
The table I had was unbalanced. I told the server and she said she would return with some coasters. I never saw her again.
I had the classic margarita. I expected better. It did not have a good balance and it was very harsh to drink.
The guacamole and chips were another disappointment. It tasted like the guac came out of a bag like you get at Lonestar. The guac wasn’t event green, it was more brown which makes me wonder how long ago it was made. The chips were decent.
I ordered an array of tacos - shrimp, carnitas, clam, and beef brisket. The shrimp I enjoyed the most. The carnitas were good too but something in it tasted off. The clam was interesting but doused with mayo which took away the authenticity of Mexican food. The beef brisket was ok as well.
I didn’t stay for dessert as I was too full and I could not get the attention of the wait staff for 20 minutes.
Overall, I was very disappointed. I was hoping for a much better experience. The ambiance and the venue was very nice, although I’m not sure if the neighbouring table enjoyed my butt swiping their table again as I left.
Food was great, Enchilada was huge everything was very tasty! Service was pretty good just waited a little long for our drinks second time around.
The food was delicious. Cactus dip was very tasty. Tuna ceviche needed a bit more of a zing. Tacos were great! Tables are way too close to each other for my liking but staff was very accommodating
Delicious and tasty food. Everything had its own unique flavours. Wait staff were great, casual vibe, will definitely be back!
Great value too.
way too noisy, asked to moved away from encroaching children whose parents didn’t think they should stop their children from annoying other customers. was ignored by staff (he literally walked away when I asked to move, I’m talking to you man bun) we left immediately without even looking at a menu. I can’t see bothering to return. incredibly disappointing experience.
Creative food in a comfortable setting. Fun time with interesting Mexican food.
I love Chula! This place never disappoints. The drinks are a little pricy but very tasty. I love that you can order soft tacos by the piece so you can sample so many different proteins / flavours. I’ve had every taco on the menu and they’re all amazing!!!! Each one different. Definitely order as is with no modifications. I’m a picky eater and yet here I feel you need to experience each dish the way it’s made as each ingredient balances out the other. The flavours are a mix of sweet and spicy. This place is super fun. The patio is incredible. I like this place better than La Carnita.
The food didn’t come as described - the server didn’t pay much attention to us and it wasn’t busy that she couldn’t have paid more attention. By the time she finally came around we were over it and just wanted to go. I’m surprised she didn’t say or question anything when we barely touched our meals.
A great place for a casual meal in the Leslieville district of Toronto. We ate outside in the split-level patio area which is really special, with a nice atmospheric "buzz". Food was very good, including some less usual items (the zucchini fritters were really fab); service was friendly & efficient. If we lived in Toronto we'd be back here regularly. Not sure how it would be once the weather means the patio can't be used, as the interior dining room didn't have the same feel.
