One of the very best restaurants in Chicago. Great antipasti table and a nice wine list. The food and service are very consistent. If you like Italian...…...
I had reserved a table for 6:30 pm and we were escorted to it immediately upon arrival. In summary, the food and service were excellent. My husband and I shared a delicious câprese salad to start—especially, the fresh mozzarella—followed by a pasta marinara, and then a grilled branzino (sea bass). The house made pasta was prepared as we like it — al dente and not drowning in sauce—and the branzino was perfectly grilled. Our friends also ordered the branzino as well as a Margarita pizza and a salad. The wine list is large and well-priced with an excellent selection of Italian wines. We chose a Gavi and it topped off a wonderful dinner and an excellent dinning experience. We will definitely return.
Birthday, I added notes to my reservation about birthday celebration and when we got there I told them it was my husbands birthday. They said they would add a candle to the desert and there was no candle. According to the reviews this place should be better but I would give it a 2 out of 5 stars. I regret taking my husband there for his birthday.
Not as good as it used to be despite a new chef who was promoted as “shaking things up.” Seems like the same menu they’ve had for years. Best bets are the pastas. There’s better Italian food in town
The food was excelent, our server was personable and the host was entertaining.
Going to Coco Pazzo was an experience! From the moment we arrived until we left the restaurant it was a memorable dinner and lovely time enjoying the meal and the staff.
As always, the service, food and ambiance were wonderful. We hadn’t been there for awhile and it was great to see that it was as good as ever.
Ambiance is nice.
We ordered the Caesar salad. Supposed to be made table side. It was close, but not table side. They also combine orders for multiple tables and make a big salad, then divide it out. We feel like we got small portions. It tasted good, just not a good size portion for us. Past dishes we ordered were very tasty.
Service was pleasant, but seemed a bit rushed.
Traditional good italian.
One of the best experiences for Italian cuisine in the city.
Unfortunately two of our dishes were not prepared as requested. An order of brazino was not prepared as requested. Also one of the people in our party who is a vegetarian had vegetables that were also not prepared as requested and when she requested another vegetable dish she was given another one but not what she requested. Our waiter was attentive but missed the expectation of getting our order correct
Excellent place, with very professional service and amazing food. Highly recommend it.
The risotto was very disappointing. the fish ws ok but nothig more. I have been there many times and this was the worst food.
Took 20 minutes to get a drink.
Total time to dine 2 hours with a rush at the end due to theater tickets. No time for coffee or dessert. Woman’s room at 7 pm had no paper towels to dry hands. At these prices we should not need to ask for restroom supplies! Overall service should not have been so slow. When we arrived at 5:30 there were only a handful of occupied tables.
Very nice interior and very authentic food. One of the best places in town.
Live music was nice background but they occasionally got just a touch loud.
Good food. Attentive service without being too much.
We dined on a quiet Monday night in late November, so I can't speak to the noise level at other times, but our table felt quite private, and we could hear each other easily. The room was warm and inviting, the service attentive (although perhaps a bit too much so when it came to getting drink orders when we first arrived. I personally felt a little rushed). The three of us split three starters - fritto misto, smoked salmon, and an arugula salad, all delicious. My companions had the pasta with wild boar sauce, while I had the Lucchese pasta, and we were very happy with both. For dessert we split the panna cotta, which was the most authentic I've had in the U.S. All in all, we were very pleased with the dining experience at Coco Pazzo.
Great service and energetic atmosphere. The wine list could be a little more broad on some more accessible options.
The wine steward made us uncomfortable with his comments. The caesar salad was the best ever. Lovely presentation.
The pulpo gallego (grilled octopus) was wonderful -- very authetic to Galacia in Spain. The wild boar ragu was tasty as well. Wonderful dinner
Great place to eat...but prices seemed more like $$$$ than $$$. Would go back again and again.
Fabulous food wine and impeccable service!
I had a ny strip steak but was basically given a butter knife to cut it. Asked waitress for a sharper steak knife and she said that was what they had. Had a helluva a workout trying to cut it. Can’t believe this place is that cheap to NOT have good steak knives. Won’t be going here again.
Pasta overcooked then undercooked.
We loved this place. The pasta was awesome and we loved the Cesar table side service was delicious! They did a great job with our loud, drinking selves
My friend and I enjoyed a delicious meal and had a delightful lunch.
Great ambiance. Great service. Great food. We had just returned from Italy shortly before we went for dinner, and the Bisteca Fiorentina we got at Coco Pazzo rivaled — and actually surpassed! — the ones we got in Tuscany! Perfect in every way!
Not many restaurants are as perfect as this one. We have been there before and we will back on our next visit to Chicago.
Server was inattentive and forgetful and of low quality . Didn’t understand menu well. After we were seated waited 10 min and had to flag a busser to get our servers attention. Never brought wine list we had to ask Made multiple mistakes on our order. Brought us an item we didn’t order and then charged us for it. Brought pate w no bread Forgot one guests desert and we them to remind twice to bring it. Dropped our check before all desert and coffee were served and never said thank you. This is high end restaurant and service quality was not consistent with it
We always have a wonderful experience whenever we come here. Food and service are always top notch!
Food was fantastic and our server was one of the best i’ve ever had. Ambiance could use some work as it was basically just a large open room with not much decor or separation of space amongst tables.
Good food and wine! Great place to celebrate my husband's birthday.
Hadn’t been here for some years... really felt the whole quality of food and service had declined.
I ordered a house salad, which was lacking any flavor and almost no dressing. My pasta was gummy and boring.
My companion asked for a salad with grilled chicken. Or any protein. Could not accommodate her. What??
Delicious food and excellent service.
Lovely restaurant but the food was just OK. Was not happy with the service though. From the start we were “warned” by the waiter that he had been informed by the chef that there was going to be a “push” of customers and we had to order our main course at the same time as our appetizers. Told the waiter that we were in no hurry as we were celebrating two birthdays and we would NOT be ordering all at the same time. Did not stop them from pressing us the whole time. Asking for our dessert order when dinner plates had barely been cleared. And by the way, that expected “push” never happened as there were empty tables in the restaurant the whole time we were there.
Food was scrumptious and Rodrigo (sp?) was an incredible waiter, offering great suggestions and making for a wonderful dining experience. I will be back!
Service was just off. Asked to tell us about the specials twice and sat us next to three other tables of people even though the restaurant was empty.
I have a low sodium diet. Tough to manage at most restaurants. Waiter was aware and knowledgeable about the challenge. Will be back. People like me don’t venture to new places we tend to go back to the restaurants that help us. See y’all soon!
We no longer live in Chicago, but returned to Coco Pazzo remembering a specific dinner about 20 years ago. Everything was exceptional. The salad selections were creative and well sized. We both had pasta dishes for our mains, and while the serving portions weren’t large, the food was delicious! I give special kudos to the “bus” people. Very attentive while being unobtrusive. At one point, an ice cube fell on the table when refilling my glass. I instinctively but it on the bread plate. The plate was quickly picked up, and replaced with a clean plate. A little thing but very attentive. My only complaint. 4 vs 5 stars for value, is that the wines by the glass were pretty expensive. Being an Italian restaurant, it would be nice to feature a couple of reasonable, high value options. Happy to see this restaurant stand the test of time!
