I love the Virgin Hotel brand and it’s a lovely space. But the night we went, the restaurant was fairly vacant so to make up for the emptiness they apparently decided to play classic rock SO loudly the three of us (literally) couldn’t have a reasonable conversation. We asked the server if they could turn it down and the server claimed that they turned down the volume by a quarter, but we couldn’t tell.
I get it. The Virgin’s brand is that life is a party and I love their rooftop bar, etc etc. I really wanted to love my dining experience. But this is still a restaurant. And people still want to, you know, communicate.
As to the food, it was fine; not great. And expensive for what you get! Crazy. No one loved their food but neither did we dislike it. So we quickly ate and (obviously) skipped dessert. We couldn’t get out of their fast enough.
I told the hostess on the way out and she was super kind and wanted to make it up to us somehow but we just left. I’ll stick to the rooftop periodically and skip the dining room. I don’t want to eat in the middle of a loud bar pretending to be otherwise.
We went for a post wedding dinner for seven of us including the bride and groom. We could not have asked for more. From the congratulations card on the table from all the staff to the fantastic service, the team there were truly fantastic. Then the food was excellent as were the drinks. Thank you All.
Recommended by a friend. Beautiful restaurant on the first floor of the virgin hotel. Artsy drinks and very creative dishes. We got the sea bass. Rooftop bar is a great place to end the evening
Restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived and never filled as we were there. We got sat in back corner by bathroom( not most desirable in any situation but as it wasn’t busy not too much traffic). Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and as such wasn’t very attentive. We ordered bottomless mimosas and had a hard time getting refills. Dishes from our first course weren’t cleared to make room for the next. Had a good time because of my girls but not sure it is a place we’ll back to for a meal *have been for drinks before and LOVED IT!!*

The food was very disappointing, and not worth the price. It was a bit noisy. Our waiter was very good, but that is the only positive thing that we can say.
Atrocious. Run don’t go. Cold food. Poor quality food. Did wine paring the service was so bad we had courses where the wine never showed up.
They pray on the stupid new money of the south financial district. Have no idea what San Francisco food and dining is all about. $1800 for 4 people, I refused to pay for no wine and dog food.
For 1/10 go to Giribaldi, or actually anyplace. I have never in my life been so offended by the service and dog food.
The hotel manager came over and put discount coupons on the table. As a consultation. We left everything on the table as we will never ever ever go to such a horrible place in our lifetime.

Came here on valentines day with my husband, never been here and for my first time it was amazing. The food was beyond incredible ,the staff was very nice and attentive. Overall it was great.
Had a nice brunch with a friend. Courteous service and the food was quite nice. Really impressive facility.
This place was plucked from London and into the Virgin Hotel. Very hip modern vibe with a menu to boot. Cocktails were ok (the Works had way too much stuff in it that kept on sneaking in your mouth) but the food was phenom! Dessert was just ok (chocolate cake had a weird texture). I'd definitely would go back!
Unfortunately my friend's food (both appetizer and entree) were really bad and we had to tell them about it. App was the caviar bites, entree was the cod which wasn't even unfrozen. My food was fine but to have two things come out that were very bad and not well prepared was not good for this place. Waiter was super nice about it but I won't recommend this place to anyone.
This was our first time dining here. We found the atmosphere to be both cozy and energizing. Our service was outstanding. We were informed about changes to the wine list before we opened our menus to ensure our expectations were appropriately set and met. The menu was diverse and appealed to a wide range of eating preferences with our group, including vegan. The cauliflower entree was outstanding!
All in all, a great value for the price. I will definitely return.
This place is absolutely amazing! Staff, ambiance, food and drinks are the BEST. We were celebrating my fiancé’s bday and Keaton took very good care of us. His professionalism and knowledge of the food and drinks was exceptional. Everything he recommend was delicious! Hats off to the owner of this gorgeous restaurant. You’re staff is representing you to the fullest! We are definitely coming back when we’re back in town. I would give this place 100 stars!
We went to celebrate a birthday. The food was just OK. Very small portions and some of it came out cold. The server wasn't great. Our drink order was wrong twice. The music was great but it was so loud that we couldn't talk and couldn't hear the server. Overall just an OK experience.
Loved the Upside Down Tea Party! I will most definitely be coming back!
Great space, great decor and the food was delicious. A bit noisy with a dj around the corner in the bar. But otherwise highly recommend.
Food was good. Drinks were good. We didn’t have napkins on the table, we try get the attention of the waiter but he was busy so we had to get from other tables. Little priced but good quality.
I was excited to try because it's the chef behind Quince, one of my favorite restaurants. The food was good, but did not quite meet my expectations. We were a party of four and ordered the rib eye, duck breast, salted cauliflower steak, crab bisque, mushroom side, brussel sprouts, and sunchoke bravas. The bisque and the vegetables were real stand outs. Great flavors and cooked perfectly. The rib eyes were good, but nothing particularly memorable. The duck had perfectly crispy skin but was a little dry and tough. The atmosphere was great. They manage to make it feel open and airy yet warm and cozy. The service was also excellent. I would definitely come back for cocktails and nibbles, but I don't think I would invest in a full dinner again.
Very cool space with a fun, upbeat vibe. Excellent service. Nice wine list. Dinner was excellent. I had the dry aged steak & my buddy had the venison. Brussel sprouts & sunchokes for side dishes. Everything was outstanding!
Terrific spot. I picked this spot based on previous reviews and they were spot on. Food was amazing and service was too! Our food was delicious. Really really good. Definitely would recommend Commons Club.
First time here! Look for server Andy! Super friendly and knowledgeable, gave us the best service! Food overall was great, some dishes were a little too salty but that’s why we washed it down with alcohol. Try the ribeye with brussel sprouts! Honestly we wanted the recipe for the brussel sprouts but we’ll have to just figure it out. The Parker House rolls are a must have also.
Restaurant is in the Virgin Hotel - confusing to find from the street and no restaurant signage to guide you there. Walked over from convention center and the address is takes you to is their coffee shop. Stood outside waiting for my group and several people headed to the restaurant were confused. The menu at lunch is actually brunch which is a little weird for mid week - but I had the grain bowl and it was delicious. Service a little bit slow for our table but not the one next to me so might have just gotten caught behind a big order. Overall though it was a good experience and if I were at a meeting at the convention center I would go again - now that I know how to find it!
Staff alternated between rushing us (while restaurant was nearly empty) and disappearing. My colleague ordered a condiment when his meal was delivered - and we proceeded to wait 15+ min for it to arrive (only after he left the table to find another server)
Our bill was rushed and had incorrect charges first time around.
Overall, an extremely disappointing showing for a venue trying to show itself as first class. The food was just ok, but would have been made possible if the service was passable.
Made a reservation for the New Year's Eve dinner. The atmosphere was just nice for the occasion, and the dinner service flow was fairly smooth, although it ended just 10 minutes to the stroke of midnight, which gave us just enough time to get to the rooftop bar for the countdown to 2020! However, the food was overall excellent, and wine pairing was great too!
