Excellent food and staff. A+ Customer detail! Kyle was also helpful on the phone. This place and the hotel places customer service as a number #1 priority!
Commons Club is the hot spot near Moscone! There is a lively bar scene, cozy tables, and an exuberant, friendly staff! We enjoyed champagne, cocktails and some apps. The gnocchi and the pork belly were outstanding.
While the lobby entrance is underwhelming the bar and restaurant is beautiful, food was a bit underwhelming for a Sunday brunch and no menu for any stand out brunch drinks. Overall the food needs to match the amazing space and it will be filled on a Sunday instead of only two tables with people. Although not part of the hotel the valet service was a mess with this app you have to pay on, it was raining and we couldn't pay on the app, finally did but another underwhelming part of what should be outstanding service for a new hotel.
We had a ball at this place, the Autumn Salad, Halibut, Pork Belly and Duck were all scrumptious.
We also had specialty cocktails that were to die for. The atmosphere was trendy but lively and inviting. Can't wait to go back.
Would not call the noise level energized. Loud in a way to attract people in, perhaps never to return. I prefer to talk with my fellow diners to create meaningful
moment and not have to shout. Informative, helpful and courteous servers.
Enjoyed the food. Service was a 8/10 a little mistake here and there but overall very good. Host (could have been manager) was outstanding - Natalia, if I remember correctly.
Packed with Millenials in their deliberate ultra casual mode.
Nice kids but oblivious, tatally self absorbed. The venue is hip, lux minimalist; loud DJ music.
Very good experience to had dinner with friends here
From our greeting to the hostess taking us over to our table and the wait staff was great. I have to say our waiter was the best he made u feel as if he was our personal assistant and at the end we were given a card from the Resturant staff and we took a picture with all of them before we left. What a great anniversary evening.
Common club is a great surprise. We loved the music. Food was great. It was a nice change from noisy SF restaurants. Quiet, well-deserved place with great food.
Went for a work dinner and had a pleasant time. Staff was very attentive and helpful in selecting appetizers and entrees. Quick to notice when I needed another cocktail (lovely). Food portions were small but fairly exquisite. Pumpkin gnocchi was solid, but duck agnolotti was missing something. Amazing oysters to start. Restaurant itself has high ceilings and memorable decor. All around a solid meal.
Our Server was great, but the kitchen is very slow. That said, the food was well prepared, but at too high a price point for “what it is”.
I like to go places where the server actually knows how the food taste
Fabulous first-time experience.
It was fantastic!! The chef came out and greeted us!! Would go back again!!!
AMazing steak and eggs and potatoes
Had a great time celebrating my friends birthday. Andy is the best wait person and his attention to detail was amazing. The Autumn Salad was a work of art. The fish fries and the pumpkin gnocchi were delicious. There were also a few nice surprises that I don't want to spoil for anyone!
The place was empty which takes away from the experience. We were surprised. There were a couple mistakes but they handled it well. Nice waiter
Our waiter was very attentive. Very loud so if you want a conversation, choose a corner.
The service was amazing! The manager was awesome and so was our waiter. Really made my birthday celebration special!
Great appetizers, pork belly, and pumpkin Gnocchi. The recommended rib eye had great flavor, sides and presentation, but was really salty.
The service was good, but slow.
The food was excellent and the service superb
Chef and Kyle did a great job taking care of my guests. Everything excellent as always.
Very good experience. Love the atmosphere. Reminded me of a New York type hotel and restaurant. Service was superb. Interesting delicious unusual food.
Our server and runners were excellent!
The Commons Club is a very Hip and modern restaurant, bar lounge, complete with DJ! Excellent customer service from servers to waiter to Chef! The Chef came out to speak to us about his new dush which we sampled for free! I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
I am a foodie and in the hospitality business, and was exited to try Virgin Hotel’s restaurant. The bar vibe at Everdeen is great but the food at The Commons was terrible and overpriced. Atmosphere was stifling and old school. Service was excellent.
For example, you had to pay for bread, which is ok if it is specialized and wonderful. This bread looked and tasted like it came out of a Pillsbury doughboy can. Fish and chips appetizer was actually a ceviche which was fishy and unedible. We sent it back. Pasta tasted like Chef Boy Ardee our of a can as well.
Really disappointed Virgin!
Went here for my 51st Birthday with my boyfriend for dinner for the 1st time on Saturday. The front staff including maitre'd, waiter, & servers were super friendly and attentive. Now hats off to Executive Chef Adrian Garcia for a amazing menu and the kitchen staff! We started with the Golden Osetra Caviar Bites, Corn Soup, Pork Belly and their take on "Fish & Chips" which was salmon tartar served with seasoned crispy fish skin as chip. Everything was delicious that I myself had no room for a whole entree as I'm a light eater, but my boyfriend opted for the Sonoma Duck a recommendation from our waiter. I took one piece to try OMG the duck just melted in my mouth it was so succulent and juicy! I didn't order dessert since I was stuffed but the Chef came out with a chocolate cake with a candle and a another lighter dessert which was a lychee granita with strawberries and raspberries! Top that off the pastry chef sent out a small bites of macaroons and little sweets! Oh I had to be rolled out of there (with a doggie bag)! I highly recommend the Commons Club for the overall amazing service and dining experience from the Executive Chef Adrian Garcia (formerly from Benu and Quince both 3 & 4 Michelin Star restaurants). We will definitely return to try their wines (we brought our own from wine tasting) and try the other items on the menu. Thank you Chef, Commons Club & the Virgin Hotels!! Everyone must try!
Chef Adrian Garcia has created a world class, Michelin star quality restaurant in the lobby of a hotel and that is not easy! The duck agnolotti and the gnudi were special, everything was special, but those two stand out in my memory and I am writing this a week after the fact! Don't walk, run to the Commons Club as soon as you can. Kudo's to Chef Garcia, our server Angel, and the food runner Andy; the three of you gave my friend and I a truly memorable dining experience. Keep up the great work.
It was the BEST of everything I have had in my 60 plus years of dining. ( that includes NewYork, Las Vegas AND Europe!
Stayed at the Virgin hotel for 1 night so we decided to have dinner at the Commons Club which is located at the ground floor of the hotel. Great vibe, very chic atmosphere, and the food was good too. Service was excellent at our server was super helpful with the menu and was very attentive to our needs.
Amazing Halibut! Beautiful Ambiance and excellent service. Loved the whole experience.
Wonderfully inventive, delicious food.
Great place to take a client for a quick bite. Burger and fries were amazing!
Menu was a bit limited. Portions were a bit small. Service was great. Comfortable environment
Beautiful place, very close to Moscone Center. Had a business meal with some customers and food was good.
Great place to hangout with friends and Business meeting.
I will say that the atmosphere and aesthetic of the space was great. The service was horrible. Our drink order took 45 minutes and the second drink order was forgotten by the waiter and was never placed. The food was just ok, nothing stood out as memorable.
Ambiance is amazing, food was average in taste, value was not there. I’ve been to Michelin starred restaurants and have had a just as expensive or less expensive meal that tasted amazing. If the food tasted incredible that would be one thing but the pork that both my wife and I got tasted like a bratwurst, seemed a bit dry and most of it was fat so we got like 3-4 solid bites of meat.
Cocktails were good not great. Nothing was done to accommodate our anniversary dinner even so I mentioned it in the reservation.
Will I be going back? Probably not. Value isn’t there and food is nothing special. Also would have been nice to hear a “happy anniversary” or have some sort of acknowledgement.
I wouldn't recommend it if you're already hungry or thirsty walking into the restaurant, or you have limited time. Service was friendly but the kitchen and bar service took forever! Even when the restaurant and bar weren't packed. They must be encompassing of hotel room guest service otherwise one can't explain the wait and inconsistent timing of food and drinks to the table.
Menu is limited but with enough choices to satisfy most palates. However, it's written in an esoteric manner that made it hard for most to "get it" and may put off some, if reading it online. Dishes were all delicious, especially the roasted cauliflower, gnudi and halibut.
Unlike the food that did deliver inspite of the complex ingredient-based menu, the cocktails weren't up to par. Especially the bloody mary which was weak and timid with mushy olives (ewwwh!).
It is a shame as the clubby, intimate feel of the restaurant and bar would make this a great social spot for friends and clients. But with the long wait for food and drink, the "hangries" will quickly override any goodwill.
