Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Rockville
The decor was beautiful and the wait staff was knowledgeable. I will definitely visit again.
The checkin process was seamless, the waitress was awesome and the food was to die for. Great spot for lunch!
WOW. Coopers Hawk far exceeded my expectations. The drinks, food, THE SERVICE. All amazing and i would recommend this place to ANYONE
Beautiful space. Wine is good and explained well by staff. However, pushy on the "wine club". Also, the vegan offerings were unimaginative and paltry. Our service was poor and one of our appetizers came out after asking twice and we already had our entrees. Very little could be modified to be made vegan so the choices were small and then the delays......
The location is somewhat hard to find the first time, but a cinch thereafter. I thought our server was very amicable, however, not everything came out in a timely manner. My friend had to ask for her coke long after my husband and I got our cocktails. The food serving were very large - almost too large, More mashed potatoes than I ever thought possible with meal with an Asian flare. The wine by the glass was indeed expensive but good. I would go back but I'm not sure my husband wants to return.
Took my 90 years old mom to Cooper’s hawk and she loved the food. I’ve been there many times but this time I didn’t enjoy my mean as much. The steak was a little too chewy for the price.
From its ambiance and palatable wine and menu selections, Cooper's Hawk is a "vine-to glass" and culinary gem. I've visited numerous times and have yet to be disappointed.
We love Cooper’s hawk, but the service on Saturday night was very slow. Our waiter was fine. Very attentive and tended to our needs. Our food, however, took forever to come out. We had some wine at the table and the manager came out to apologize, but a perk such as a free appetizer or percentage off of the bill would have been nice as we are regulars at Coopers Hawk. We love the place and food! Just a suggestion!
Outstanding as always! Totally recommend Cooper’s Hawk!
Good food, good cocktails! Servers are very friendly and they work as a team. Been there several times in the past 2 months. Sitting in the booths in the bar area is the most fun. They play good music too!
The room we were sat in was cold; we had to move to a different room that didn't have heating problems. I should have known right away, as people in the first room were all wearing their coats!
The food came and it was not my order. It took another 5 or 6 minutes to get my order. The other person was practically finished when I got started.
The last time I was there, the appetizer never came. I asked about it several times, but the waitress blamed it on a backup in the kitchen. Something is amiss.
We love coming to Coopers Hawk! The wine, food, servers have always been above the norm. Tonight we ordered the chef’s recommendation, printed on a little card they give you when you are seated. Shrimp and grits. The shrimp were 1:30 in size- was okay. The grits were similar to mashed potatoes (which are an excellent side item!) The grits must have been tiny. They didn’t have a familiar texture. For the price, 24.99, I wished I had ordered the burger- so good!
Although the ambiance, service, and wine are highly rated there are some opportunities for excellence. 1) too much batter on the calamari, 2) no additional lighting at the table (had to make use of smartphone), and finally, the fish was too cooked and not seasoned well
So far, no disappointment at this restaurant. Every visit a pleasant experience. Only 4 stars in the ambience category. I just don’t like a lot of noise. Maybe because we did sit at a table in the middle, not a booth. We were able to adjust so we could hear our conversations. Not sure modern eateries even want a comfortable noise level. Acoustics treatments would help.
All was good but the noise level was beyond tolerable.
It was AMAZING! I would recommend to anyone and everyone!
Very good service
What a wonderful and unexpected surprise this restaurant is! It's easy to find, with plenty of parking. When you enter, you walk through a tasting room with lots of cool wine-centric gear/gifts, past the bar area to the restaurant, which has clean lines and lots of windows. It's very attractive; a great place to meet for business or pleasure, and the food is great.
When you first walk in you’re not quite sure you are in the right place. We were greeted with a complimentary taste of wine. The entry is a long standing bar with small displays of merchandise spaced sporadically. It was nice and spacious and made the short wait enjoyable.
The food is good. The menu had something for everyone. They have a nice size gluten free menu as well. The GF items were prepared as expected and were handled appropriately with no cross contamination. Once we were seated we were offered a sample if the house reserve which prompted some of us to order a glass. The pretzel bread starter was a hit. The Thai Lettuce wraps for an appetizer were very delicious - even the GF eater was able to enjoy. Our table ordered salmon, steak, beramunda and a steak salad. There was no take home that night. The portion sizes were to be as expected We did not order dessert as we didn’t have room. They had a case at the entry full of different chocolate covered strawberries that looked amazing. In addition they offer more homemade desserts. The ambiance is great for celebrating birthdays or special occasions. Pricing for the food was a smidge higher than comparable places but not that much different.
As for the wine section of the restaurant I have nothing to offer. I will leave that to the experts. 😁
The SERVICE was EXCELLENT! Every staff person we encountered was very friendly and wanted to ensure our experience was enjoyable.
We definitely will be going back. I highly recommend checking it out.
Food took too long
We had a reservation and arrived to a mostly empty restaurant. Despite this, they attempted to seat us adjacent to the kitchen and the server prep stand. I asked if there were any other tables and she offered me the one next to the first one. I said I'd like to be away from the kitchen and server walkway so she checked with the host and reseated us. A man came and said he would be our server and would be right back but a few mins later a young woman came and took our drink orders. She was wonderful (sorry can't recall name but she had short red hair). Service remained outstanding but the food was meh. Really average but I would come back and try other things solely because the server was so good.
The food was excellent and our waitress was very attentive.
Our Best friends Birthdays.
We continue to enjoy lunches at Coopers Hawk. All of the dishes we have tried have been delicious and we enjoy the wine selections. Our waiter, Tavis, was excellent. He was prompt, friendly and especially knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, the wine pairing and the menu. It is a fun experience every time we go.
This was an exceptional experience. A birthday celebration for my wife, the evening could not have been more perfect. From the wine tasting, with its very knowledgeable staff, through thru dinner with its attentive restaurant staff, Cooper's Hawk is now at the top of our favorite restaurants list. We can't wait for the opportunity to share with our family and friends.
Waitress was spread too thin and food took a long time to come out. Food was delicious but it took a long time to get our bill.
The staff was very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious and tasted very fresh. Great choice of wine.
Food was delicious but service was slow and sporadic. This seems to be a consistent problem for this location. Waited a long time for wine and water refills. Food was slow to appear and several times wait staff tried to deliver other peoples' food to our table. Loved the filet mignon; it was cooked exactly to my specifications.
Worth a try if you like wine. Food was okay - meatball appetizer came out cold, but the flatbread was good. My main dish was also good but service is slow. Not sure if it’s the wait staff or kitchen. There is a lag between courses and it takes a long time to get your drinks so I would order a bottle for the table, this way you don’t have to wait for refills.
This was the 2nd time I went and I feel both times were similar - food/wine decent, service/kitchen slow. First time was with a larger party of 9 and second was only with 4 so I don’t think the size of the party matters. Just be aware to allot around 2 hours for a meal.
Food and ambiance is always on point, service tonight... not so hot.
