Not only was the waiting staff friendly and accommodating, but the food was delicious! Gluten free bread + drinks are a huge plus. Couldn't recommend this place more highly for an intimate dinner.
Service excellent and the food was absolutely delicious! Will return!
One of our son’s favorite restaurants to dine at when we visit. Corso never disappoints- always so good!
Food is generally good, but the main courses offer limited options.
Not our first time at Corso, and won't be our last. Great service, the food was absolutely delicious, really. One of my consistently favorite restaurants.
Great food and service! Eat up enjoy and have a Awsome time.
The pate was delicious!
The new menu is a solid joy. The tomato salad (or appetizer) had the richest, tastiest tomatoes I've
had in years, and that shrimp with white corn appetizer was superb. Your Cesar salad, although sporting a different name, is the best in the Bay. Glad you retained the chicken al burro! There is the ongoing vexation of the noise level, of course, but one is eating too lustily to be involved in anything like serious conversation anyway. By and large, I think Corso is a reliably excellent eatery..]
Thought the food was very very good and it usually is here.
The tomato salad with the white anchovies was just killer.
Tripe is always good tho this batch didnt quite measure up to the last time
The Duck was excellent.
Our server Marina was great
It was a bit too loud for us and my wife was put off by the slobs sitting next to us, but after all, It’s Berkeley
We’ll be back
One of our tried-and-true favorites. Never a bad meal. Very gluten free friendly. Amazing staff and service. I’m still dreaming about the prosciutto and fig salad.
Tomato salad of Early Girls in random chunks with end pieces of basically skin on plate to appear like there was more than 2 small tomatoes cut up. Green romaine salad wilted, which only occurs if the lettuce was dry and wilted prior to dressing or if it was dressed and sat in a hot kitchen for 15 minutes. Both salads had so much pepper including whole corns that I wanted to tell the waitress to take the pepper grinder away from the salad maker. The pepper made the salads unpleasant to eat. Grilled fish was delicious if a little dry. Clam pasta was awful. It was so tough it was like eating plastic. It was a Monday so was perhaps chef’s night off. Wine, service and bread were excellent. My previous meals there were excellent.
Corso is an excellent Italian restaurant. It has a number of dishes that are always exceptional and worthwhile returning for. Among my absolute favorites is the branzino. There is only one restaurant I've been to that does branzino better, and it's in Manhattan. The romaine salad is also superb. Unfortunately, my effort to expand my repertory of favorite dishes doesn't always work out. The linguine with clams is hit and miss: sometimes extraordinary, sometimes disappointing. On this last visit, I tried the swordfish. The sauce was tasty, the swordfish dried and overcooked in parts. Not what one would expect for $32. The wine list requires the expertise of the waiter to negotiate. In this last round, the white she suggested lacked any real taste: it did not stack up against the dishes we ordered (and we reviewed them with her). To Corso's credit, they tried to make it up with a wine by the glass. Still, a $44 wine should offer a stellar experience: it should not need to be sent back.
My favorite Berkeley Restaurant, but oh, I wish they were open for lunch! Perfect food presented beautifully and not too expensive. The pastas are spectacular, however, the Branzino is my special love. I can't wait to return for another meal.
Food was scrumptious, service excellent and attentive.
Only negatives - a little loud and they didn't recognize the birthday celebration we were there for - I had noted it on the reservation, but didn't say anything further.
Great birthday dinner with my wife! Terrific service, good food and a lovely evening all around.
corso is one of my favorite restaurants—-always delicious!
Service was spot-on. Ingredients were very fresh. Menu changes every two weeks so possibility for something new on return trips. Interesting and tasty culinary approaches to classic dishes. Seems like restaurant has made some steps to reduce noise level (fabric wall boards to absorb sounds).
Corso never disappoints. I have been there a dozen times before attending the Berkeley Rep Theater, and the food/service/ambiance is always excellent. The menu is authentic Italian, and varies. The wine list is pure Italian too. This restaurant is a real gem and the new "Chez Panisse" of Shattuck Avenue!
Wonderful meal with a great ambiance.
Great scene, relaxed and refined. Quieter times are best for conversation.
Excellent staff, service, and food! One of our favorites to go when we want a wonderful meal with friendly people!
Food is fab. We had the broccolini with EVO, lemon etc & the restaurant’s wonderful preparation of Florentine Tripe. We shared their fab grilled branzino. Service was excellent but took a while to reach us, even though we were dining very early.
The only downside was the noise level due to the closeness of the tables to each other.
Everything was great until they brought me an overdone, dried out chicken breast. Why ruin a delicious meal with this piece of hide served in a hot metal pan of liquified fat? It was not tender. It lacked any manner of flavor (burned off?) Again, the rest of the meal, and the other dishes on the table, were excellent. But my meal was ruined by this dish which you were proud enough of to place in front of me.
We went to celebrate and we were not let down! Another wonderful meal.
I like Corso a lot and this eve everything was excellent.
The Tripe was absolutely killer as were the Prawns with
pimenton. Done perfectly,
Veal piccata was outstanding as well.
Bryan( or Brian) was great. Took very good care of us.
In spite of being very busy
This is my go to place when I don’t have time to cook!!
It was still quite a dinn at 8:30pm, but our friend was there and we were three. Our server was great in getting wine and the Salume (?) multiple cured, sliced meats and pickeled veggies and bread and butter, together. We were then deep in converdation, but before we lost the ability to order, we decided to split three things: 1) the first home made pasta dish with a little meat, 2) the phenomial side of baked polenta and 3) yet another side of garlic spinach! Wooo-hooo! My affogato correto came with chocolate gelato and a candle--my birthday--and David's affogato correto came with vanilla gelato! We closed the place down and so enjoyed our dinner! A great time was had by all!
Love their pastas and wines. Service like no other restaurant!
We try to go every time we are in Berkeley. Rivals our best Italian meals on our recent trip to Italy. Highly recommended.
Skip the corn and clam chowder; the flavor was just weird. The branzino with a side of polenta was lovely. The panna cotta was a revelation.
Corso has been a go-to restaurant for us in N. Berkeley and in the past several years the food has been excellent. The food this last time was uniformly poor. One diner had cannelloni that was clearly not freshly prepared and was swimming in a bland tomato-based sauce, and the other had the fegato starter that was also poor. Both diners had a fish main course that consisted of fried cod (that tasted fine) and squid on a large heap of beans that were not tasty. If this will be the culinary standard for Corso going forward we will not be dining there.
It was the next night before surgery for one of our party and the food, service, and ambience for 3 close friends made it memorable. Thank you.
Service here is excellent and so is the food. This time my favorite was the corn chowder. The sauce for the shrimps was too salty for my taste and I would have preferred oil and garlic to the tomatoey sauce. I would love to see more dishes that come with some form of vegetables. The noise level is far too high for my preference. Still, overall, I love Corso. Would like to try the other dishes but can't afford to come more than occasionally.
Excellent service, adjustments to orders, and consideration
After all these years consistently good food incredible service Berkeley institution!
Great food and experience. Will be back!
Consistently excellent food and service. Always outstanding. A delicious find for us. We happened to walk in one evening 3 years ago, just randomly and fell in love. One of our all time favorite restaurants. Their signature Butter Roast Chicken is an absolute must😍
A nice reliable neighborhood stalwart and always pretty good, but nothing super special these days.
