Cut 158 Chophouse
Was there at opening and we’re out of the fish. Disappointing. Others in our group were satisfied with their meal
Steaks were cooked perfectly. A bit pricey, but good food. I ordered the brussel sprouts and they tasted like they were burned - otherwise food was great. I would suggest a larger menu. More seafood options and specials. We made reservations during the week for 5:30 and we were the only two in the restaurant until approximately 6:15pm.
The food was fantastic as was our waitress McKenna.
However, our party was seated next to the entrance which on a cold night was not very enjoyable.
Lesson learned...request to NOT be seated there in the winter
This was our first visit to Cut 158. A friend told us about and we thought we’d try it out. We were a little skeptical at first but the experience kept getting better and better! The food was outstanding! The chef came out to talk to us and the manager spent a great deal of time talking to us about the history and future of the restaurant. Only thing they need a little work on is the waitstaff....more knowledge and finesse are needed. We will definitely be back and recommend to others!
As good as any steak I've had in Chicago. The chef knows what he/she is doing.
Extremely expensive for downtown Joliet. We frequent high-end steakhouses often and don't mind paying the higher prices, but this place was ridiculous. They are obviously relying on people coming in before or after a show and getting "stuck" paying those prices. We live in the SW burbs and I will NOT go back to this place. The cocktails were pricey and the martinis were only filled up 1/2 way and I don't believe I had a full pour on my wine either. The food was extremely pricey and just okay. The $65 ribeye and the $35 NY strip were nothing to write home about. The dessert was pricey and mediocre at best and the waitress served us cold coffee. Yes, cold. Owners definitely need to re-evaluate their prices.
What a great place! I had the Porterhouse and my wife had the Rattlesnake Pasta, the Porterhouse was unbelievable, cooked perfectly and the Rattlesnake Pasta was to just as good! We highly recommend Cut 158 Chophouse for a great night out, you won’t be disappointed.
Our latest visit to the chop house was perfect! Many of the people were on their way to the Rialto. The service was relaxed and friendly and yet timely. Our food was excellent and we enjoyed our waitress’s professional demeanor. So glad that 158 Chop House is making in downtown Joliet!
Very elegant restaurant. Food and drink was outstanding.
The food was really good and the service was amazing. It's a little pricey but great overall.
The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, the drinks and the food were delicious.
Absolutely amazing! All around!
Truly, excellent dining experience! Steaks are cooked perfectly & delicious! Service is great! Only negative is that we’ve enjoyed Cut 158 four times & at each visit, there is a menu item unavailable & we’d prefer a better beer selection. Overall, excellent!
Portion:price ratio not very good for suburbs. Taste of food was excellent- but my $75 tomahawk wasn’t much bigger than a normal 16/18 oz ribeye. Butters are excellent- both on shrimp app and steak. Filet bites were another good appetizer. Service was average- I think only 2 servers and 6 tops... once food started coming out it was ok. Forgot to make one of our sides :-)
Again- quality of food was excellent- just need to work out the portions and service. Maybe extend the menu a bit with some soups, fish, other sides.
Great food and great service
Food was very overpriced for the quality and area. At $60.00 for a Ribeye, I expected Ruth Chris quality. Two of us had fish, not edible, waitress made no attempt to rectify. I had called in to order a Birthday dessert, as we were celebrating a Birthday. Never arrived, no mention of it.
This was our first trip here. After reading some of the reviews we decided to try to find a steakhouse in Joliet. the service from the front door in was friendly the food was great and the special was terrific. We hope Joliet can continue to support a restaurant like this and we will be back.
Unfortunately we did not get our food before we had to leave for a show. Took 20 minutes to get 1st drink. Appetizer was excellent..glad we ordered, we were hungry. 6:00 reservations for 7:30 show. Been here before with no troubles, food good!
Loved the decor and ambiance. Staff was most helpful and very friendly.
Our food was outstanding...salmon, steak, and grouper dinners.
It took a while to get our meals, but we knew that each meal was freshly cooked and served hot.
Will never complain about that!!
Our first time at Cut 158 was wonderful. Food was excellent, our waitress was wonderful, and drinks were tasty. Will definitely go back!
Food was excellent and service!
Filet was fantastic! Best ever. Grilled onions were even better, tasted like candy. Brussel sprouts not so much. Excellent cocktails. Romantic atmosphere.
The black cherry martini and Manhattan's are wonderful. The baked shrimp appetizer is an absolute must. The only downfall is you will want more. The filet mignon is mouthwatering, while the bone in ribeye was a bit of a let down. Extremely tough and chewy.
Outstanding service and food!!
Excellent food and service!
Some steaks a little pricey.
Should be in a better location so not to waste the chef’s awesome talent!
Pleasantly surprised! We are not seafood lovers so we ordered an unconventional cheese curd appetizer... it’s was fabulous. House salads were also wonderful. My filet 10ounces under $50 finished with a onion marmalade like topping. Had the fries as a side and they were delicious. Spouse had the pork chops. They were good enough but he regretted not getting the filet. Fingers crossed they are consistent when we return.
One of the best chop houses in the Chicago area! Must try the "lollipop" lamb. It's fantastic!
We ordered the pork chops and the house steak. Outstanding flavor! Both meals were excellent!
Love the feel and decor of this place. Service was outstanding. Two thumbs up for the spinach and strawberry salad. Salmon dinner was very good. One of us tried the new pork chops with peaches...yum, but didn't care for the potatoes.
Our group will definitley be back.
Excellent wait person in Dino. Food delicious and we had a great time.
One word...... Fantastic!! We truly enjoyed ourselves, the service, the food the atmosphere! A+++
Dino, our server... was great with suggestions, attentiveness, as soon as a plate was done it was gone, glass never empty for a moment!
The food was amazing! Steak could be cut with a spoon!
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Everything was great! We were celebrating our friends 30th. Our server Monica was the best!! Also the chef came out several times to see how things were going. Lovely evening!
As good of a steak as I have had...and I have enjoyed many steaks. The service was beyond fantastic. Everyone very friendly and informative. Gary, the chef, got me to eat mushrooms, in an adobe soy sauce...I never eat mushrooms....Gary's were great. I am definitely going back...and bringing friends.
Great food...extremely pleasant and helpful staff!! Would definitely recommend and will be returning!
Wanted to do something special for brunch since it was Father’s day. Made reservations, everything was ready for us, great service, constantly checked on us and warmed our coffee as we waited. Food was delicious! Worth the wait. Will be coming back soon.
Fantastic Cocktails and the food is ridiculously amazingly fantastico!
Awesome food and atmosphere. I had the filet mignon, baked potato and house salad. It was very delicious! My friends from Des Plaines loved the truffle cauliflower, their meal and the homemade garlic butter for the warm bread. My friend I enjoyed our chocolate cherry martinis and chocolate banana cake with chocolate and raspberry swirls on the plate for dessert. We will be back and 2 other couples will be joining us. Thank you Chef Gerry and Abby our server for the awesome dinning experience.
Food was delicious and very nice atmosphere perfect for a date night.
Had dinner here in February and overall good experience. Came back in May and it was just ok. Would not recommend.
