D4 Irish Pub and Cafe
Low key, friendly, very casual, food incredibly interestingly seasoned and prepared. If I lived in the area I’d eat here all the time.
And I’m a pretty snobbish diner from Manhattan.
Very attentive to customers. Two "adults" watch over the whole operation as if they have a vested interest. Outside seating is shady.
Our waiter was very friendly. We had a long wait to get our food - I suspect the kitchen was backed up. Once our food arrived, it was good.
We had a reservation set for 7pm. We arrived at 6:27pm. I notified them that we arrived early and was seated promptly as it wasn’t that busy. Once we were seated in the back section near the window, we were ignored for approximately 20 minutes. I saw at least two waiters make eye contact but did not make any attempt to acknowledge if we were being helped. A couple was actually sat down after us about 15 mins in, got served before us. The waiter must have been told from someone that we were not being helped, finally helped us. food and drinks were promptly served after our order was taken.
For my first time at D4, I wish the service experience matched the food taste.
Super accommodating for my husband that is in wheelchair!
Delightful surprise! Great food in a small, pub atmosphere.
Great place, expected more Irish food on the menu though. Comfortable atmosphere, the hostess never acknowledged we had a reservation and took us to an open table, though there were reserved signs on others.
Husbands food arrived 30minutes before mine. First time I’ve had this level of service at D4. Disappointing n disappointing nothing was offered in return
The absolute best chicken fingers...and everything else was delicious!
The food was amazing but our server was not very nice.
Jonny is awesome!!!
Very friendly hosts and servers. Food came out in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend the French Onion Soup!
The location and environment are great! The waitress is also friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!
Great place, recommended especially the Brussels!
We live around the corner, so we are at the D4 once a month at least. Service and food are awesome, every time!!!!
Great staff and nice relaxed venue. Food good, only minor gripe is very small salmon portions. But was rectified by the manager with an extra portion free of charge. Recommended.
We had the best chicken fingers ever! William, our waiter, was flawless.
We were there for brunch. The French toast was delicious. The service was great and our request for a table was honored. We find the food there to be consistently great!
Mother's Day brunch- the moms got complimentary mimosas!
Excellent service & excellent food! Will definitely recommend to friends.
Favorite neighborhood place to go to. Honestly don’t understand why there isn’t a long line like Yolk next door. Our favorites are the chicken fingers, burger and the salads! Actually we can’t think of a dish we have had there we don’t like and we have taken many friends and visiting family members there over the years. Very reasonable prices too.
D4 is our neighborhood go-to. The overall experience, and of course the food and drinks, are consistently wonderful.
Went for fish and chips based on recommendation, would not pass that on had better in California and that is saying something
Great experience and incredible food. Can't wait for our next visit to Chicago to stop by again!
Excellent place for brunch, great service with a nice atmosphere. For dinner a good place do discuss business. Quiet tables available.
Not an Irish Pub! No resemblance to that of an Irish Pub
Johnny was a fantastic server! The food and drinks were great too!
Large portions for their meals. The poutine and chicken tenders (fried in their oils used for fish and chips) are delicious and massive, way over performing the menu designation of "small plates". The rueben is large enough to feed a small army.
Perfect place for great Irish pub food in the loop. Service was excellent. Was even offered free sample of Irish whiskey bonus! Perfect variety for the menu which made it really hard to choose, but the lobster Mac n cheese was excellent and you can't go wrong with the fish and chips. We will go back soon to try the rest of the menu!
Great Irish food!
This place continues to be awesome! Went there for dinner with a friend on March 13th. Food was fabulous and our server, William was the best! So accommodating and patient - great personality. Truly gave an impression that he cared for the patrons. Will definitely continue to dine there and recommend to others!
We have been at the International Home and Housewares Show at McCormick Place and decided to eat at D4 Irish Pub and Cafe for the 3rd time since staying in Chicago. The food is amazing! We shared the Poutine (beef brisket, Guinness gravy, white cheddar cheese curds & housecut fries) with an order of crispy brussel sprouts. The spicy ginger soda was fantastic! The portions are large and can easily be shared! This is a great restaurant in downtown Chicago!
This was a really nice find - there in downtown Chicago, it is hard to find a restaurant that isn't insanely expensive. Completely reasonably priced dishes. A really nice presentation of pub food. My fried chicken sandwich was huge. And my friend got the fish fry. The three pieces of fish were the size of small surf boards. Very comfortable and very reasonable. We had an early call the next morning, so we didn't drink, but pretty sure their beer selection would have been top notch.
The concierge at the Embassy Suites told us about this restaurant. We actually ate here the evening before per her recommendations not realizing this was an Open Table restaurant. On Friday evening we shared the assorted sliders (burger, pulled pork & crab cake) and shoestring truffle aioli fries with Sprecher’s Root Beer to drink.
On Saturday evening we shared the beer battered chicken fingers with shoestring truffle aioli fries! Delicious! We will definitely return when visiting Chicago.
D4 burger and chicken finger appetizer. Good selection of craft beer. Large portions and the sweet potato fries were great. The chicken fingers had some delicious dipping sauces.
I loved the gastropub feel and the menu is fantastic! They serve up a great poutine, and brussel sprout salad. I will definitely go again! I am a bit confused why they are called an Irish Pub - as their menu does not reflect much Irishness
The shepards pie was great and the beer selection was adequate. The atmosphere felt a bit antiseptic and was more "haughty Chicago eatery" than "Irish Pub." The entry and bar area looked the part but sitting in the back seating area could have been any random chain restaurant in the midwest.
D4 is a highly reliable Irish Gastropub that will please almost everyone.
All of the food is reliably delicious, and the service adds to the experience every time.
It’s the top of Streeterville dining, in my opinion.
Best Chicken pot pie on the planet- incredible! Wait staff was smart and helpful- even was able to accommodate my wife’s request for extra crispy sweet potato fries which was amazing. Couldn’t have enjoyed the meal more, and the ambience has a great buzz.
Upscale bar food...great burgers, salads & sandwiches. Best corned beef in the city. Service is attentive but not super knowledgeable if menu. Great beer selection & cocktails. A perfect spot before or after the movies (or just in the neighborhood).
