The food was excellent but the service was well below what you would expect !

Restaurant week - food was not as good as it usually it and we felt rushed between courses.

Selected David's due to past experiences as well as their Maine Restaurant Week 3-course menu. As usual, the food, the drinks, and the service did not disappoint.

Made me realize what I have been missing during the pandemic - time to go back to restaurants like David's!

Never disappoints. Bring visiting friends who have differing tastes here. There's something for everyone and most of the dishes are excellent. Worst case, the dish is still good to very good.

Our entrees were excellent as well. I had the filet and my server didn't ask me for
my preferred doneness.. I should have spoken up, it arrived a little under to my preference. It was still delicious and I enjoyed it. My friend had the Lobster ravioli and loved it!

We "shared" the chocolate dessert-and it was yummy!

Everything was amazing! I had the opened face lobster ravioli and it did not disappoint! We are definitely going to be coming back!

Service was great. The appetizers were good (garlic knots), but the food was very bad. Both of us got pizzas, one meat and one mushroom. The sausage on the meat pizza tasted too old to eat, a little sour. The mushroom pizza was pretty inedible, the parsley on top made it taste like essential oils had been sprayed onto the pizza. Service was great, and the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately both me and my partner got sick after leaving the restaurant. Easily the worst restaurant experience we had in Portland.

Spent the night in Maine for a business meeting. Had a delicious dinner within walking distance of our hotel. Food and service was amazing. We would definitely come back when we revisit.

Lobster ravioli is the best!

This was our second time there. The food has been outstanding both times, as is the level of service. Great place for dinner or weekend lunch.

We felt very safe while dining at David's. The host/server was super attentive and made us feel welcome. Although we were not 6 ft apart from some of the tables next to us, the timing of the seating were staggered and worked out where the two other parties left not long after we sat down. The lobster ravioli and roasted duck breast were delicious and decently portioned so that we could share the dishes. The arancini was also a great starter.

COVID polices were enforced and followed. The food was fantastic albeit short on vegetarian options.

Excellent every time ! The beet salad is a meal in itself and the best I have tasted. Great duck, potstickers , and chowder though that needs to be piping hot , not warm, to really enjoy it to the fullest.

I loved using OpenTable to make my reservation. Fast and easy to do! David's Restaurant has been on my radar for years...his appearances on Newscenter Maine and 207 are always memorable because of his easy way around food! Love that he cooks up what is in season and uses local produce and goods whenever possible. The brussel sprouts with candied almonds were so good as an app we got another serving to go with our dinners! The scallops were outstanding as was the jalapeno infused margaritas we had! Our server was exceptional and loved chatting with David at our table in celebration of my birthday!

We have eaten at David’s many times. During these tough times for restaurants they make you feel safe. Food is as always fabulous.

Great food and great experience!

I have been a David's advocate and diner for years. I have taken many out of towners there. Our recent visit was a big disappointment. The Haddock with Lobster was inedible. The fish was so overcooked and dry - terrible. The open faced ravioli with lobster must have been cooked under a picture of a lobster as there was nearly none but had substituted shrimp instead. Of the three of us, no one bothered to finish their meal. There is no excuse for such terrible food from what was once our favorite restaurant.
Terrible food. marginal service. Way over priced at $191. for three meals.

If I want an excellent meal, this is now on my short list.

This restaurant listed vegan options on their online menu and had no vegan options in the restaurant. My food was great, but my wife was very frustrated by this.

Had an amazing experience, super friendly, great cocktails, apps, and dinner was incredible!!! Hostess was awesome!!! Will go back again =)

My fiancé and I went for NYE dinner. We had a reservation but for some reason were placed in a back dining room with no music playing and a much different (and less desirable) ambiance than the main dining room. Without going into too much unnecessary detail, the food was great but overall was not worth the $200 spent (before tip).

We have recently discovered David’s and this was our third time eating there. Great restaurant. Food is always same high quality. Make a great cosmopolitan. We look forward to our next visit.

Atmosphere quiet, food was great. Our server was professional and pleasant . We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience.

I made a reservation here a couple of weeks ago and having perused their menu had pretty much decided on the highly regarded meatloaf. When I was seated and saw the specials menu, though I got distracted by appetizers again and just did those, trying new things again. Mussels for the first time and then roasted tomato arancini, followed by a cup of their unique and outstanding clam chowder. This place's high reviews are founded and deserved. It's situated right on Monument Square, too with nice views.

Very nice place, decent food and service. Nice that the owner, David, stopped by the table to say hello. Definitely a great find in Portland. Will be going there again. :)
