Quality ingredients, well-prepared. Great for foodies.
A disappointing evening! ☹️ It started with a mixed up with the bread order, then we waited for 1 hour for our pasta, only 2 out of 4 servings came to the table. It was a few more minutes before the other two arrived at the table. Our Primi were served but the brussels sprouts arrived when we were almost finished with our meal. Not sure if it was the kitchen or our server. Don’t think we’ll be back.
Food was just okay, one dish good, one dish so-so. Had to pay for bread when you order $11 butter
which didn't go well with the bread. Service at bar was very poor. Wine selection was limited.
I love the food but it’s always been too loud.
The food was amazing, especially the Brussel sprouts with hazel nuts!
Always a wonderful meal. Don’t eat here without having the panna cotta—Delfina has absolutely perfected this dessert. Sublime.
We have been there in multiple occasions but service very dodgy!!! Our server Lana was very nice. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and st a restaurant I don’t want to be pouring my own wine !! Where is the service. Food was very good though !
Over all it was a pleasant and delicious experience. The pasta were all very delicious and freshly made. The chicken was as advertised and just about everything we had was yummy. My only complaint would be the close quarters. We were practically sitting with the people next to us and should have just joined in their conversation since we heard every word as we sat two inches away from them. Understandable due to the popularity of the restaurant and in the end we loved our experience.
Beautiful simple room and very attentive service. Easy to see why it’s an institution. Hen ragu and roast chicken dishes both heavenly and well-executed. Not inexpensive but lovely for a treat.
Overpriced subpar Italian small plates, pastas and entrees — simple food can be delicious but Delfina was pretentious and disappointing. Why any reviewer would deem this place as a must for visiting foodies is beyond me. Judge Italian by the core menu item “Spaghetti in tomato sauce” and you’ll see that it’s no better or worse than any decent Italian you’ve had in any major metropolitan cities worldwide.
What happened to the lighting? It’s too bright. Otherwise lovely.
Twenty One years and never a bad meal or experience. The pros on 18th are a sure bet.
Horrible horrible horrible! Worse management ever! If the owners want to resolve what they did to us. They need to reach out! Fire ur front house staff! U made our thanksgiving not happen
I’ve been a Delfina regular for 8 years. My experience this time wasn’t up to their previous standards. It’s gotten crazy expensive to eat here and the noise levels are out of control. I also found the menu to be uninspired
Delfina continues to deliver a wonderful dining experience.
Adela our server was fabulous!
Delfina continues to be a delicious spot for perfect pastas, wine and dessert after all these years! Everything was delicious including their classic tomato sauce spaghetti. Service was so attentive and accommodating. They even took back a bottle of wine that we weren’t fond of which was so nice of them. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This is a very popular restaurant (hint: advance reservation) and for good reason. The ambiance is very hip, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious.
The head chef, Ian, is creative but not too crazy where everyone can find something to eat in their comfort zone.( picky eaters)
This is our second time here. this time I splurged on the shaved fresh truffles on my pasta and enjoyed every bite.
Excellent as always. Italian food doesn’t get any better than Delfina.
I highly recommend all of the pastas at Delfina, if you haven't already tried them they are incredible! Wait service is always great - big smiles and authentic personalities. Wine selection is great - definitely recommend the Sauv Blanc. Also loved the porchetta main dish - great flavor from the pork and well prepared.
This has been one of our favorite restaurants ever since it opened. The food is always consistent and fabulous. Excellent service as well.
The food was heavenly and service impeccable. The noise level was a bit much for us as well as the hard benches. It would be nice to consider senior’s needs as we are the largest group of consumers alive with the most $$$.
We’ll be back with our cushions.
Thanks for hearing our suggestions.
We loved our experience at delfina! It was enjoyable and delicious. Highly recommend for date or dinner out in SF.
Delfina's is a must when visiting San Francisco. The food is delicious, inventive and prepared perfectly. Exceptional service, lots of attention to details and I love that the waitstaff is knowledgeable about wine.
I’ve been going to Delfina’s for 20 years and it is always wonderful. The food is delicious and if you can’t find anything that particularly grabs your attention there is always the spaghetti or the the steak frites to fall back on. And when they have quail as an entree or pavlova for dessert, then you’re in heaven! Also, the service is always impeccable.
Nice energy. A little too precious and overpriced for Italian inspired food. Still, everything was fresh and seasoned well - which is always nice.
The roasted chicken, Homemade pasta quinea hen ragu, and Budino chocolate dessert were all perfection. The staff and chefs at Delfina continue to amaze me with their warmth and creativity.
Good food, not ambience. On the pricey side.
Loved it! Great pacing and great waitstaff! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Amazing food and team! Can’t wait to come back! ;)
We have been coming to delfina for years, but something was amiss this time. Maybe because it was Halloween, the very limited menu, salt in our clam linguini, but they did take it off the bill,
We had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation for a table which was very frustrating as there is just outdoor seating for waiting and not ideal for my 80 year old cousin. However, after we were finally seated, service was attentive and food very good and deceivingly simple; we tasted: salad, cod, linguine and clams, and chicken .
Great food but the ambiance is not for us. Tables are only a few inches apart which not only makes getting seated awkward, it also makes you a part of the conversations going on around you. table service went downhill as the night progressed with wrong plates and cutlery before our entrees came, and our server going awol when she was chatting with colleagues in the back. Worst thing is the music; as the evening progressed the music changed to loud rap/hiphop. No one needs to hear Nelly or Pharell during a quiet sunday evening dinner. I get that the kitchen staff may be wrapping up a busy weekend, but dont force this soundtrack on your patrons.
As always, delicious food, cozy service, and happy diners. Nothing particularly cutting edge, but that's not why you go to Delfina, right? #yougoforthespaghetti
Food was great, as was the service. A bit noisy. Not cheap $175 for we two, (2 sides, 2 entrees, 3 glasses of wine, tax, and tip), but typical for SF.
Great ambience, we were so happy visiting from New York City to find a restaurant like this! And the food, well, nothing to say except beyond excellent, thank you!
Great vibe great food! Could not have asked for a better experience
My girlfriend’s dad’s birthday
We loved it! Even though we’ve been served excellent meals at Delfina in the past we hadn’t been in for years. We were all blown away by the food, and the truly top notch staff. We were just expecting a week night meal and were treated to what felt like a world class experience.
The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. Very very pleased!
