Dinner by Heston Blumenthal - Crown Melbourne
It was an amazing experience. Each dish in the degustation menu was prepared with care, was attractive and had carefully considered combinations of flavours that provided a taste explosion. The wait staff were attentive to our needs and were very knowledgeable about each dish and it’s origins. Effort was made to cater for individual tastes and allergies. I was contacted several times prior to our visit to ensure they had all our dietary information.

From the moment my partner and I walked into the restaurant the ambience of the restaurant and the welcoming of the staff was lovely.
The table we enjoyed our amazing food and drinks had such breath taking views. Our tastes buds hit it off from the first bite, recommendations on the drinks that accompanied the food was spot on. The drinks through the nite we’re of a high quality. The staff attention to detail was impressive.Our HB message specially written on our dessert plate was sweet.
Great service and exceptional food. However the set menu was very heavy, each dish competing. The ambiance was basic, no tablecloths, simple napkin and glass, no background music. Whilst I expect this is to push focus on the food, the result was that the food wasn’t presented with a fine dining ambiance.
After the meal my impression was that the whole experience was over controlled and forced. Driven by a tight set menu and wine matching. Result is that we loved some dishes and hated others.
It was a fantastic evening celebrating my wife's birthday, made all the more special by the members of Dinner by Heston.
Beautiful restaurant, attentive service, very fine food, but not the "WOW" inventive and engaging experience we expected from the Heston brand having followed his work for years.
Dinner was simply the best dining experience we have ever had.
My fiancée and I arrived and immediately we were greeted by the warm friendly staff. Each and every member of the team who interacted with us for the night congratulated us on our anniversary. The wine that was selected for us was amazing and the food, while sometimes out there was amazing. The 10 courses were unique and well prepared. The special chocolate mandarin cake they made to help us celebrate on a night was to die for.
What a wonderful experience, from the moment we walked up the dark corridor to the moment we walked down it to leave the service was outstanding. They made us feel welcome & comfortable straight away. All staff were incredibly well educated on all aspects of the food and beverages on offer. The food was out of this world good & the wine pairing complimented perfectly. Cant wait to return!
We had an outstanding meal served at a good rate by impeccable sraff. Bare tables are set with quality cutlery, crockery and glassware. You can't get better than Zalto. I could have done with a considerably larger main course but the quality could not be faulted. Duck was perfectly cooked with an interesting sauce. Groper was extremly moist and surprisingly delicate. The menu has barely changed in yeaes and no reason why it should.
Wunes are very expensive but cocktails ($16) are reasonable
It was a wonderful experience, the service was outstanding. The degustation menu the amount that the diner is expected to pay $295.00 per person is worth the price. The ingredients and the origin of all the dishes, but, without a menu present, (which we had to wait at the completion of the degustation), you could not remember what you were eating. Please bring back the a la carte menu, so the diner has a choice of dishes. There is pressure on the diner to finish off the meals due of the price.
Expected more to be honest. Didn’t live up to the reputation of Heston. Wanted more drama and story interwoven with the meal. Hugely over priced compared to other fine dining restaurants in Melbourne.

Terrible. Heston’s for Dinner has lost the plot. The old ala carte menu was great. Now they have degustation only, presumably as a cost cutting measure. The oyster was not fresh. The food was confused and generic. The old menu was vibrant, and coherent. The taste of pre prep is hard to ignore now. The waiting staff gear is bad, rolled collars, cheap shirts. I remember the uniforms at least looking like they were bespoke from Zegna previously. I won’t be back. Which is a shame.
I chose this place out of all the other best restaurants in Melbourne to celebrate my husband's birthday as some family members recommended this. I specifically made a special request when booking that I would appreciate if my husband could get a dessert or cake with "Happy Birthday" on it. This is not a big deal as I have had such experiences previously from other fine dining places. It's a shame that this request was neglected. Food was too salty with strong flavours.
A wonderous experience filled with delightful surprises. Staff were extremely attentive and genuinely enthusiastic at explaining all aspects of the food and wine.
The food was excellent, as was the service. The question that remains is, was it worth $300+? Fans of Heston would be familiar with some of the dishes and the use of old recipes is quite interesting. While the preparation and cooking techniques are no doubt intricate, it doesn't have any of the "wow" factor of his original Fat Duck menu, such as snail porridge or bacon and egg icecream. The main meal protein portion size is roughly the same as two fingers of kit-kat. Disappointing for the price.

We loved our overall experience at "Dinner". The staff were very, very professional and added to the experience. They were accessible, knowledgable, courteous and unobtrusive which is totally in keeping with the fine dining experience we expected. The lighting really helped with the ambiance which was spot on. Only one comment about the food, we found the sauce on the prawn "savoury" dish and the gravy on the chicken main a little too salty. Otherwise a totally delicious experience.
The service was fantastic as I suffer with food allergies and the staff did everything to accommodate my requests. We enjoyed every meal and the accompanying wine. Would recommend anyway to try
The staff were very welcoming and went the extra mile to explain the kitchen to my daughter who is a patisserie chef. This was a special treat for her 21st birthday and was an amazing experience. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a special event. The food was out of this world, and exceptional.
Was a good experience however the truffle dish with chicken was very salty and did not seem balanced

If I could give more than 10 I would, from the moment you step in you are warmly greeted and every need is attended to.. genuine smiles from enthusiastic staff that go above and beyond to explain everything. Heston and his team of chefs are nothing short of amazing, the thought process behind the flavour combinations and textures is second to none. The 10 course dégustation is hit after hit with the hardest thing is deciding what was your favourite dish. Great job to Heston and all the team.
The food and service was impeccable the highlight for me was the kingfish and the tipsy cake, but there wasn't a dish I didn't like.. also a special mention to the house made bread and churned butter I could of eaten just this and be happy!

We were expecting something special and weren't disappointed. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The wine matching took it to another level, we got to drink many obscure wines that we normally would have never tried.

Our experience at Dinner by Heston was absolutely magical, from the moment we entered the restaurant (I won’t ruin the surprise!) it was clear that this place was unlike anything we had ever experienced. The ambiance was amazing the kitchen was behind glass and we were able to see the chefs working like a well oiled machine. The Service was immaculate, and the wait staff tended to our every need (even refilling the napkin when you left your seat). It was simply incredible... I’m out of words!
Sorry but was very disappointed... was there at 6 pm and still at 10.30 did not have the desert... very slow service... we ended up leaving before desert was served...
Lots of minor issues ,not good enough for that price and expectation
The 10 course degustation was totally underwhelming. While the chef described the courses as themed, and used a lot techniques in preparation, it was overall too salty. Brined protein paired with over seasoned accompaniments and salty sauces was just too salty for any other flavour to come through.

The whole thing experience was just amazing. Even help with the wine selection & the recommendation that was made. All 5 of us enjoyed the same wine!!
Hubby & I have dined at exclusive restaurants but we’ve just introduced the kids to it and they were absolutely amazed. Even my 17 yo had a cheese platter & I never thought it would be something he’d have.

Able to have the 3-course menu and we thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes. Plum meat fruit was wonderful and played with your mind being chicken liver parfait in the shape of a plum. Hay smoked kingfish was so incredibly soft and melt in your mouth. Venison with cherries was the highlight for me as it melted in your mouth. Wagyu beef was not as marbled as we expected and was cooked past medium rare which was disappointing. Both the lamington and tipsy cake topped off a wonderful menu.
Food was really great and cauliflower and the customer service was perfect
