Dolce Restaurant & Wine Bar
Awesome, awesome venue for food. Love the uniqueness of the venue and how quaint the atmosphere is. Definitely an establishment to add to the frequent dining list.
Great Friday night spot! Everything was exceptional; you feel like family from the moment you sit down
I really wanted to like this restaurant and was excited to go. The pictures looked beautiful and the menu was great. However, when my husband I and went we were very disappointed. To begin with they were out of one of the items we ordered, which I realize was not the worst thing in the world, but a bit irritating. Then we got a pizza as an app, which was meh, nothing any better then the local pizza place could make. Then we got our main entrees, and this is where things went downhill. Both our dishes were loaded with what smelled like stale breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese....I mean loaded. So the smell and taste of the dish was mainly old breadcrumbs. My dish was a ricotta dumpling, which was so heavy with lemon flavor, that I couldn't finish the dish as the lemon and stale bread taste did not mix well. My husband ate all his food because he was raise to eat what is on his plate, however he also complained of the stale breadcrumbs and was not really happy with his dish either. We went to dinner earlier in the evening so the place was not very busy, so I did feel like we did wait a long time considering for the server to come over so I could mention that I was unhappy with my meal. They did end up buying a glass of wine for me, but honestly, when you pay that much for a meal, they should have comp'd the food not the drink. After we left, we went down the street and picked up some food to bring home because I was hungry. Disappointing as it was a really cute place, but not worth the money.
When Francesca’s closed in LaGrange, we were bereft—now we have a new Italian neighborhood go-to. The short rib sauced pappardelle was unctuous; the Caesar salad sparingly dressed with crunchy, spiced croutons (but served without the expected anchovies); and the halibut in a tomato sauce very good. But the waitress got our order wrong—we ordered the Dover sole! A liberal portion of the dried fruit and chocolate chip studded bread pudding, topped with gelato, was plenty for two.
Usually I’m very satisfied but was disappointed this trip. The ventilation was poor and the manager has to open the door for air.
On accident wine was spilled and no comps or offer for dry cleaning bill. I’ll come back because I really like your place but I don’t think the 4 friends I brought will.
My wife and I moved into Westmont a little over a year ago and Dolce has become without a doubt our favorite little restaurant to go to. The staff is very nice and professional and the food is second to none. Their Panko chicken is my favorite dish and you can’t forget about mushroom toast to start with. We love how they change their food specials to give more variety of dishes, and their wine selection is large and ever changing as well. This is a place to visit at least once, because after that you will be hooked!!!
Had always wanted to try Dolce and the food did not disappoint. Caprese salad, gnocchi and spaghetti carbonara were ordered and were all delicious. Only complaint was the place was crowded (Saturday night, Sweetest Day) and staff was doing multiple tasks.
Other complaint was coffee. I ordered regular, my wife decaf. Either the orders were switched or they did not have decaf, but my wife was up until 3 AM.
Will return, but skip the decaf after dinner.
Good service. Great Value. Creative menu. My wife loved the cauliflower pizza crust.
Four adults and three toddlers enjoyed a delicious dinner at Dolce on a recent Tuesday night. We are huge fans of Dolce’s pizza and their panko chicken entree. Daisy is a great server; patient with the little ones and always anticipating our needs.
We have visited Dolce about four times since new owner.. The wait staff is fabulous. I would say half the time the food was just ok and not great. I was hoping they would be more consistent. Pizzas and appetizers and wine are always great but at times the entree is not. Had a bad piece of fish once then a very tough lamp chop once. Menu is interesting.
Pasta and pizza entrees are great! Beware of the fish entrees though . However- Excellent service overall.
LOVED the chorizo/avocado/cilantro toast. Tasty, but not overwhelmed with heat. Lamb chop special was just the right size portion, shrimp spaghetti had a good spicy kick, and pappardelle is always a fave. First-timer friends tell us they’ll be back. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly people.
Was met by a very friendly server, Tori who explained various wine choices in red. She offered to let me sample some, but I chose a wine that was excellent. My friend chose the same wine. Both of us had Rigatoni N (pork, Alfredo sauce)...very tasty.
Enjoyed the service and the food. The pasta dish was a smaller serving that would be imagined for $18.00 without benefit of salad, bread, or other side.
While pricey, the quality of the food was great.
I had made a reservation for 6, but some other family members wanted to join us. Upon arrival at Dolce , the staff seamlessly put a larger table together for us. The kitchen was busy that Friday night but Daisy provided us with excellent service. I love how Daisy just anticipates our needs. We love the burrata appetizer at Dolce and we had several pizzas and they were all delicious. You can never go wrong with their panko chicken and the Dover sole just melted in your mouth.
First visit to Dolce and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was outstanding, fresh and hot. We had the mushroom ravioli and short rib pasta. Excellent! Great little local hot spot. We’ll be back!
I’ve been there twice....once for the thin crust pizza and another for the carbonara. Neither disappointed and both exceeded my expectations. A cozy space without a crowded feeling. While a more extensive bar selection would be appreciated I go there for the food.
A warm, inviting space with great food at a reasonable price
Fun neighborhood find, good wine and bar area. We had large group and they easily accommodated it!
Excellent little local place to eat. Friendly service and great food. Would definitely go back.
We went 5:30pm. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The service and food was absolutely fabulous. It was a fantastic night. I highly recommend Dolce
Enjoyed a relaxing evening. Nice wine list, reasonably priced. Enjoyed our Caesar salad...very cheesy! Scallops/arugula/orange starter was well cooked and flavorful. Mushroom ravioli in Alfredo sauce was very rich, but a comfortable size to not overwhelm. Not full on aSaturday evening is worrisome...well worth the visit.
We've been coming to Dolce for a couple of years now. The restaurant is always providing great tasting food at a proper portion size for a good value. The service and food is always reliable and they always have great specials. One of the specials that I always got when it was available was pappardelle with braised short ribs. I was so glad to see that this special has become a regular menu item since it is my "go to" meal when we visit. As long as Dolce is there, we'll continue to go for dinners. Keep up the good food and great service!
We love this restaurant! Beautiful room, fantastic service, and the food is to die for. We'll be back again and again!
We’ve been to Dolce multiple times since they first opened. They were amazing then, not as good then, they had a comeback....this visit was the worst. I attempted to order a cocktail & they were out of some component of my initial choice & then my back up. The burrata app was awesome as usual but then our carbonara was literally cold & tasteless. The service was kind of awkward (perhaps due to the cocktail situation) but then they never even asked how our food was so we were unable to tell them.
Good service. Wines are reasonably priced. Menu selections are somewhat limited.
Have always liked Dolce...good food, reasonable and a nice neighborhood spot. My last 2 visits have been disappointing at best. Food this visit was inedible and took forever. Service was lackluster. Won't be back.
I ordered scallops on a bed of arugula and my husband pasta puttanesca and a salad. Food was bland and disappointing. Salt and pepper shakers were sticky. My white pants got dirty from sitting on the (inside) bench
There are so many other and better Italian restaurants in the western suburbs. Don't waste your time with this one.
Nice small Italian restaurant. Service was wonderful. Food very good. A little pricey.
Waitress was great and food was amazing
The food at Dolce is excellent but the noise level is deafening. They should consider something to absorb some of the sound.
We enjoyed our first visit to Dolce since the "new" management (so, I guess it's been quite a while since we've been there!). Saturday night was pleasantly busy, but no so loud as to make conversation difficult. Service was excellent, we didn't feel rushed, although the place was full. Since we shared every item we ordered, pacing was good, and we got to enjoy each course before the next one arrived. Everything was great, our favorite was the pappadelle with short rib---it arrived piping hot and delicious! Our least favorite was probably the sausage pizza---we felt the sausage wasn't cooked quite enough---certainly not raw, but could have had a little more heat time. Nicely priced wine list, many by the glass or flight. Owners checked in with us, so we felt like they truly cared about what was going on in their shop. We'll be back, a neighborhood gem!
Delightful spot, and very easy to get to! Went at 6:30pm on a Friday night, and the atmosphere was quiet (although still family friendly, as the table next to us had some kiddos!). While I'm currently pregnant, I could not imbibe, but I did check out their amazing wine list and I can't wait to go back!
It's a wonderful neighborhood place! Has some great wines. Friendly staff, with very good service. Ingredients are FRESH, and usually locally sourced. Very pricey for what you get. We spent $50/person for very little food and just one glass of (excellent) wine each. Food was good, but not great. Pizza dough, although good, is not up to the standards of the previous owner. And ours was under-baked. We would recommend you give it a try. Just keep in mind what others in the general neighborhood are charging for similar approaches (think Topaz or the bar at Vie).
Very nice experience. Cheese and meat tray was good. Pasta and pizza choices were also tasty.
Dinner with my wife!
Loved this small Italian restaurant ! Service was super and very friendly!
I liked the fact that it was a small restaurant and that it had an open kitchen. You could really enjoy the smell of the food as it was cooking. My wife had the chicken parmesan and I had the spaghetti carbonara. The chicken parmesan was not heavily bread so was very nice. My carbonara was very good because the sauce was not too heavy. Good choices of wine by the glass. The wine special was excellent. We are definitely going to go back and try the pizza!
The food was good. We were there the beginning of spring break and the place was empty. They do not have a gluten free menu but try to accommodate.
Love this restaurant! Food is always great... Excellent wine selection. Plenty of parking. Definitely a local gem!
Visited Dolce on a recent Friday. Our waitress never introduced herself to us:( She pressured us into ordering before we were really ready. The food was delicious but the service wasn’t that great.
Awesome service by Helen. The salads and pizza “hit the spot” on a Friday night in Lent.
