Great food, drinks and service. Highly recommend
Overall, I enjoyed Drake Commissary. I've been a few times before. The brunch is OK in menu selection and taste. I think dinner maybe more have more variety. The main thing was our server was not attentive or proactive in serving the table. It was my birthday brunch and there was no acknowledgement of it -- no bday dessert or anything.
The barley risotto was incredible!!! Perfect textures and flavours. Unfortunately, the halibut was overcooked, but overall it was a lovely meal with great attentive service. Thank you.
Food was delicious...staff was awesome. Only negative is it’s extremely loud...hard to hear each other at times. I would still recommend this place!
Superior food in a warm yet bustling environment. Steady staff navigate tables in the middle of the room that are too close together with grace and calm. Try to score a coveted booth in order to avoid the feeling you're back in elementary school crowded in the reading circle. All in all a good experience with few kinks to iron out.
Celebrated my birthday there and really felt like a Queen!
Really nice spot , decor is cozy and warm great place for dinner or lunch , service was ok and food was overall just ok , hummus and zucchini fritters were good , but main course was very salty , halibut and burger . Dessert was disappointing .
An excellent lunch spot. The rueben sandwich was quickly prepared and delicious. Attentive and friendly staff
Was expecting more.....
Halloumi was too salty, Babaganoush was ok, Flank was cooked perfect but sauce on side was way too Smokey, Grilled calamari were hard and flavourless.....
Restaurant was not busy at all which gave the cooks a great amount of time to make everything right. If your calamari are off that day, let us know and we will order something else. Work on tasting before plating.
Service: fair, they gave us time to select our dishes, they did not interrupt our conversation, and they were pleasant.
A good evening overall. Was just looking for that extra spark!
Ambiance was cool. I can see myself having lunch here during the week.
Great food, nice ambiance and friendly, efficient service. The Commissary can be so many different things to so many different people without impinging on anyone's vibe. We were a family of four with a 1 and 5-year old, sitting beside a couple who appeared to on a morning-after date, two friends apparently catching up, two colleagues deep into work gossip and strategy, and around the restaurant a scattering of couples and a large table celebrating a birthday, yet no single vibe dominated and everybody looked like they were in their own space. Lovely and accommodating vibe.
Costs $40 for 2 salmon cream cheese bagels. Would cost $15 anywhere else. Didn't even use real smoked salmon. Was some gross mushed up puree with 2 pieces of dill. Nothing else in the sandwich. Still hungry after meal so went to McDonald's. Wish the waitress told us. Huge disappointment. Also loud restaurant.
My friend and I shared a table and we happy to visit and have a light late lunch. We were unaware that the
Warm ambience, chic casual vibe, superb food, friendly service. The Caesar salad is the best in the city! LOTS of free parking in their own parking lot. Worth finding even if very slightly off the beaten track!!
The service was so accommodating, friendly and personable. The food? Delicious, we tried each others dishes and couldn't decide which we liked best. We had the charcuterie platter, steak, haddock, brisket, oh my. Honey-orange gelato - mmmm. Can't wait to go back.
Love coming here always good food and a good time
It was lovely for a family gathering. We were there for a late lunch on Christmas Eve so did not experience the full magnitude of your menu. It was a lively place to gather as a family- thank-you
Excellent comfort foods. Ordered Grandma's Buccatini and meatballs and also the flat top burger. And don't forget to order bread and butter!
The biggest problem is lack of parking. Otherwise, the dining experience was really good.
Too noisy on weekends brunch compared to other times.
Slice of sourdough bread with avocado and egg was overpriced at $16 with nothing else in the plate, no salad or decoration in that white plate. The bread was too toasted and hard to break or cut with a knife. Previous times were better.
We went for a work lunch and the ambiance, location, food, was top notch and I would highly recommend.
Service was a 3/5 don't go if you are at all in a rush its quite slow and not super attentive to water refills, getting the bill etc. When we asked for things like extra hot water for tea or ketchup for fries it felt like we were bugging the servers based off their reaction.
Not a reason NOT to go as everything else is absolutely 10 out of 10.
Absolutely fan-freaking-tastic. In TO on. A four day 3-night biz trip and we loved it so much we came back twice!! The flavour palette is balanced so well. Rich flavours and not overwhelming portions for any one thing. An absolute pleasure. I would definitely come back any time I visit.
New to the area our 4th time there fast becoming my favourite spot. Great atmosphere great food
My fourth time there always enjoy the food and love the ambiance. Expect to return very soon. I did have an issue with the table initially one chair was beside a pole but they addressed and moved us right away! Good service!!
Great atmosphere/vibe. Interesting menu. Unfortunately service VERY slow. But friendly!!!
Great service! Unique menu. Love it that you can make a reservation online- I despise lineups. Great atmosphere. Blueberry scones yum! The menu is slightly more pricey than most brunch menus, but they are using quality ingredients.
Had the buckwheat pancakes and they did not disappoint. Lots of gluten free options but be sure to speak with your server to ensure all aspects of your order are suitable for gluten free diet. Great service and ambience. Would totally recommend for weekend brunch or lunch.
Great space and service, and enjoyed the food. Went for lunch and I would definitely go back.
We actually had very poor service on Friday. Three different servers over our time there and none of them were particularly attentive.
My first time at the Drake Commissary. It was excellent. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was delicious. My guest enjoyed a glass of the microbrewery next door's amber lager. My other guest texted her daughter to let her know she had found a new neighbourhood hang out. If you're in the west end, its a great place to meet and eat.
First time for brunch delicious!!
Great Sunday brunch as usual ☀️
Fabulous anytime! Breakfast lunch or dinner. Creative and delicious fare, super fresh. Great coffee. Attentive servers. Cool arty atmosphere. Have been often and never disappointed.
There’s a good vibe at this restaurant though it’s a bit noisy. Food selection and taste was delicious. Service initially was good then it really slowed down. I’d try it again though.
My friend and I had an amazing dinner at the Commissary. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding - highly recommend the zucchini fritters!! We will definitely be back!
Love this place only my second time there will definitely be coming back
Great service, even better food! A variety of options for brunch. Cozy and gorgeous space.
We had a great time for brunch before going to the MOCA. The food was delicious as always and so were the drinks. Coffee was fresh, tea was hot. Will definitely be back but maybe not too soon as the prices are a little high but understandably so. The scones...oh goodness get the scones even as a take away snack for later on in the day.
We booked for the Turkey dinner. We were surprised to be offered brunch when we got there. The link in the email suggested the booking was for Turkey dinner. We mis-understood.
One of our party is gluten and dairy-free. They had a hard time finding something in the brunch menu to eat.
Good space and talent otherwise.
Such a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. A new tradition perhaps. Everything was so flavourful and perfectly cooked.
If you are going for brunch & want a hip atmosphere and great tasting food, this is the place. My only issue is that we spend $90 on 2 people for brunch. $5 cup of tea is a bit ridiculous & although the food is delicious, the portions don't warrant the price. $17 for a smoked salmon bagel, does not even come with a side salad or anything? nice for a treat, maybe 1 x a year.
