The food and service were very good. It's a very small restaurant, much like a small french bistro. We went on Monday night, and all wines were half price. A great addition to the dining scene in MoCo and Bethesda.
Best food in Bethesda and its not even close. Great dining experience.
Great service, friendly staff, amazing drinks, great food. GET THE COTE DE BOEUF!
I’ll start by saying the staff was amazing, and the ambiance was perfect for a date night. However, after we paid the bill and got up to leave, my husband summed up the food by saying, “It’s a shame we just paid so much for food you could totally could have made at home.” Still, I didn’t have to cook or do the dishes, so overall it was a win.
What a wonderful little place! Everything we ordered was beautifully plated and delicious. Our server Nelson was knowledgeable and kind. We took his advice on some items and enjoyed every bite. We are already planning our return visit. Ordered the beef tartare, the charred broccolini, halibut en croute , duck with cherry reduction and the raspberry Napoleon for dessert. Even the bread with blue cheese butter was a winner! It’s quaint and tables are snug. Servers were attentive and friendly. We’ll be back... the French onion soup looked delicious!
Excellent all the way around!! Drove from Damascus to eat here on a date Nate with my wife . Food is very good service was timely and on point.
Ladies Lunch ~ a group of my coworkers + I go out from time to time, and we had a lovely time at Duck Duck Goose.
The staff was attentive, the food was delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We’ll be back again for sure.
The food and service were amazing. It was just really loud in the restaurant, and I wish the prices were a little lower, but it is a small restaurant in Bethesda, so I understand they have to be able to make a living and afford the rent.
This neighborhood favorite is showing some wear and tear. Our entrees were delicious but small. It was so loud we were shouting. We'd brought friends for a fun celebration, but it was flat, and I think it was the server. For apps we had fois gras and beef tartare, and then the server pushed the pasta bolognese (huh?) which was just what you're thinking. The server hadn't got saucing down and that was a dud although the duck and scallops were pretty tasty. The restaurant had run out of Bordeaux. Nuf said.
Lovely lunch with wine. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Such a cute authentic little French bistro setting - Attentive and skilled service with AMAZING food! Some of the flavor profiles were so sophisticated and perfectly executed - felt like Michelin star food in a casual, reasonable setting - Yes please!!!
Celebrating a work achievement and brought our 16 yo son for a ‘nicer dinner’ experience. Our server was efficient, though a little unenthusiastic. Cocktails were very good and always nice to get happy hour pricing. Appetizers and smalls and entrees were all great and the raspberry Napoleon dessert was memorable.
Quite large portions for the three item lunch special
Only issue I had: they gave me SOMEONE ELSE’S
I was looking forward to my steak sandwich when I arrived home.
Oh well, at least I was able to have two of my three courses!
We had such a phenomenal experience at DDG. Was I expecting something different after having to put down a deposit for a reservation? Yes. Was I pleasantly surprised to find that instead of an avant garde, pretentious restaurant, I found an intimate, quiet place to have a good meal? Also yes! I appreciate the strict reservation policy - the space is quite small and with most tables full, my group was still able to converse as if we were at home. It felt comfortable, familiar, and unhurried.
The food was absolutely fantastic - we ordered the mussels as an appetizer, 2 different lamb entrees (according to my dad, his was the best lamb he’s ever had), the burger, and a fish entree. Everyone was incredibly pleased! It’s a nice blend of French and not French. Very interesting flavors and great presentation as well.
The highlight of the evening, though, was our waiter, Nelson. He was so sweet, patient, and clearly in love with what he does. He kept telling us how much he admires the owner of the restaurant and how happy he is to come to work. This was in no way forced or contrived sounding - he was simply a genuine, happy person, and we loved spending our evening with him! We will definitely be back and home to see him there.
Wonderful meal - food was great, plating was artistic, spicing was excellent. One of the top two or three restaurants in the DC area, certainly the best in Bethesda, and we eat out all the time. Winces choice was limited by but the wines were mature and very good. Would recommend Duck Duck Goose to anyone.
Very small seating area. Very loud and difficult to carry on conversation. Menu more limited than website suggests.
The food is really good - the best I’ve had in Bethesda in a long time.
Restaurant seemed very disorganized. Not sure who was our waitress/ waiter?? Wine was good and some entrees were good others were fair. Very loud and very small. Would not go back.
Delicious food, great menu. Terrible service. Cramped. Very loud.
The food and service at Duck Duck Goose were excellent all around. The dishes were very attractively presented. The cocktails were imaginative and very tasty. It's a small place--I would think a party of six or more people would tax them. But for a couple or two, it's very nice. My only criticism--too noisy. the room is small and lacks wall coverings or carpets that would soften the noise level.
What an amazing experience! We initially visited because we saw the Chef on the food network show “the kitchen” but ended up loving it so much we are going to make it a bimonthly date night! The energy of the dining area coupled with great wine and food was outstanding! Our waiter Elliot was knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. Can’t wait to visit again!
Loved our server and food was delicious! Great date spot.
Lunch was such a perfect time to go! The lunch special is absolutely worth it. Our waiter was very kind and knowledgeable. Cauliflower soup is amazing! I will definitely be going back.
Service is impeccable and the duck is delicious. Beef tartar was perfectly seasoned appropriately with a raw egg yolk.
Had the foie gras and it just melted in your mouth and complimented the delicious duck.
Four of us visited DDG on a Monday. We have been there multiple times in the past and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this time our visit was less satisfying. The food was overcooked and just not as tasty. Not sure what happened - perhaps the normal chef was off of work and we were dealing with the 2nd/3rd team. We will likely give it a return visit, but may choose to stay away from potential"off days".
Amazing food/presentation -- service from wait-staff fairly poor, but the manager did let a member of our party order off a different menu, which was great!
The service was simply awful, although the food was quite good. A trade off for everyone to make.
The service was impeccable but the food was hit or miss. Our appetizers (charcuterie and tartare) were a nice start, but the main entree, the aged duck, was not correctly cooked to order and a bit underwhelming given it's the specialty of the establishment.
Lovely food and service, but small and can be very noisy with guests you are very loud.
We sat outside on a beautiful evening but when we ordered the 50% off wine, they did not have the wines we selected. A marketing gimmick to get us there? who knows. The food was OK and the service for the first half of the evening was very good. However, at the time to pay our waiter disappeared and we had to ask another waiter to bring our bill and also later on to pick up the payment. The bill had an error which we brought to the management attention, they did not charge us for the wine. However, when the fix the problem they added a second bottle of wine and we had to bring this to the attention of the manager. Problem finally fixed. No, I will not recommend this restaurant.
Food was absolutely outstanding. Service was a bit slow at the outset (restaurant was not too busy), but got better when they felt we were not too happy about it. The ambiance has a certain charm; we were expecting white tablecloth luxe, but it's a neighborhood ambiance with great food. That's fine - the issue was in our expectations, not in the resto's execution. I wouldn't go there for an important business dinner, say, but for a couples' fine dining in the neighborhood it really works great.
If you need a fois gras fix, you have found the right place. The white wine selection is really good and the price is quite fair. Sit outside if you can, you will re-imagine yourself in Europe at a great cafe.
My husband and I went to Duck Duck Goose for our anniversary dinner which was on a Monday night. I booked through open table and let them know that it was our anniversary and that we'd like to sit outside. It was a beautiful evening and while there is some traffic where it's located - there's not a lot of really noisy traffic. The manager came out and wished us a Happy Anniversary and brought us some champagne, which was a nice surprise. The other nice surprise was that Mondays are 1/2 price wine nights and every bottle on the list is included! We had some very very nice wine with dinner. My husband ordered the Duck Duck Burger. I gave him a hard time about ordering an expensive burger at such a nice restaurant but quickly ate my words along with a bite of his burger. OMG...just do it! I had the dry aged duck which was also exceptional. The service was great. Everyone was very nice and the waiter even ran two blocks to catch up with me once he realized I had left my phone at the table. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much for giving us an anniversary dinner to remember.
The food was nice except the risotto and that was a pile of mush.
The noise level was way to loud for us and it takes away from a pleasant dinning experience.
The food was very good. We had two plates to share (risotto and broccolini with lemon custard), and we each had a main course: the lamb shank, and two dishes that were on special (halibut in filo dough and lamb loin. While the taste was very good in all of them, the halibut and the lamb loin dishes were far too small to be considered main courses (and expensive given how small they were). Half of all the dishes were "specials" and do not appear on the menu. With all the noise in the restaurant it is hard to hear the waiter go through the descriptions. Given that I saw at least two of the 6 on my previous dinner there, it may be worth while including them in the menu and make life easier for both the waiter and the guests. We were served the wrong order at first. Not sure if it was the waiter's problem or the kitchen's problem. I would definitely go there again because everything tasted very good but I would be very careful with what I order to make sure I get enough food.
Nice location. We sat outside but not too much street noise on a saturday evening. We shared an appetizer of roasted cauliflower (good) and then had an order of branzini and an order of the duck magret. Both the fish and the duck were good quality and cooked properly. However, the accompaniments were scarce, a few white beans and small pieces of asparagus with the fish and nothing with the duck but some port/cherry sauce. When we asked for more bread, we were charged for it, which we always find distasteful. We each had a glass of wine, again served on the skimpy side.
We love this little neighborhood bistro gem! Spontaneous outdoor dining, impeccable service and tasty food.
Great service from Nelson and the food was outstanding --
The food was clever. Service very uneven. Atmosphere was nothing special.
This place is highly overrated. My $32 burger was sent back being rare rather than medium rare. Red wine was served in a large snifter glass, difficult to drink from and balance. Loud music was entirely unsuitable as was overall sound level. My companion’s lamb/pasta dish was quite good. My note in Open Table about celebrating our 54th wedding anniversary was not mentioned. Will return with guests but with lower expectations.
