East End Gastropub
EastEnd is a fun and energized spot with an eclectic menu. We always think we are going to order the excellent burgers, but sometimes we stay! Good selections at the bar too.
We love this restaurant! Food is always great and service top notch! The hardest thing is deciding what to order as it’s all excellent.
Good food and service, convenient for date night dinner and a movie.
The food is always good & the service is great.
Great service, food and next door to the movie theater !!!
We were a group of 6 and the wait to get our food was extremely long. Food was just ok, several dishes were very over salted.
East End Gastropub offers an outstanding menu. From appetizers to main courses, dishes are creative and delicious. Their cheese plate appetizer offers a truly delicious trio of cheeses and is well presented. Their pickle brined fried chicken is perfectly done and very delicious. The pickle brine comes through beautifully.
Staff is very helpful and attentive. Arriving early for our reservation, hostess was friendly and helpful, getting us seated as promptly as possible.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu.
All-in-all, the evening was a wonderful experience.
Always a pleasure! Great service and great food! Wednesday's are the best there!
The decor was great and the service was good but the food was very disappointing. The olives were good but the fried suppli and halibut did not have a lot of flavor.
Love, love, LOVE Gastropub! It was suggested that we try it from a local, as it was our first time in the area. We’ve been back twice and have returned both times. It’s my new absolute favorite restaurant! If you don’t want to head to the usual chains out there, you MUST go here!
Only 2 of4 liked their dishes. Worst pizza ever had and chicken salad though large had no chicken.
Hamburger and fries yummy. Pulled pork was delicious. Stick with cafe Cruz
Service is always efficent and their staff is very friendly! Always look forward to seeing what's new on their delicious menus
We were visiting Santa Cruz/Capitols area and wanted to try some of the most well-revoewed dining spots.
We tried East End and liked it so much we came back the next day as well.
Everything was excellent.
We had such a fantastic meal. Crispy fried Brussels Sprouts were awesome. Excellent Caesar salad. Filet Mignon nearly melted on touch. It was served with a sauce so thick and rich I considered not eating it all -- but only for 2 seconds -- didn't leave a drop.
We've dined here a bunch in the past, but our last dinner was truly exceptional! Kudos to the chef for really creative combos of flavors, and Ashley for the really attentive service. Oh, and the beer wasn't to shabby, either. :-)
Had the Mary’s chicken Salad, it was on remarkable the chicken was dry the salad was OK
Had the olives they were good
The pizza Was unremarkable
Amazing fava bean pizza and brussels sprouts!
Located within walking distance of our Best Western hotel, this restaurant was a surprising find in an unpreposessing strip mall. It has a trendy interior with a bright open kitchen. We had a decent bottle of wine. My husband had the pepperoni pizza fired in the huge open deck oven and I had the house salad with added chicken. Both were good. Just the meal we were in the mood for.
Chicken in salad was dry; Otherwise, food was good.
Arriving at the restaurant on a Thursday at 6:30, the hostess, who was quite young, could not find our reservation. We showed her the confirmation email from OpenTable and when she didn't seem to know what to do, we asked to speak to the manager. It was a busy evening in the restaurant, and we had tickets to a show immediately after dinner, so waiting in the long queue was not an option for us. The manager was unimpressed with the confirmation email, treated this as our problem, provided no apology and expressed no concern that their reservation system had broken down. Eventually, when we politely persisted, he told us he would put the two of us at a 4-top right in the midst of the waiting crowd, although there were two available 2-tops a little farther back. When I asked why we couldn't be seated at one of the 2-tops, he made a smilingly sarcastic comment to me that he could do his job very well, thank you. He did finally seat us appropriately. Then things got better. The waitress was lovely (that has been true on every visit) and the food was just fine, and the portions surprisingly generous. But we were left with a very bad feeling from the interaction with the manager.
Just go, it is wonderful! We have been going here since they opened!
Great food, slightly pricey but large portions (my $19 chicken salad was large enough for my lunch the next day too!).
brussel sprouts are usually a meh for me but these were outstanding. Teriyaki charred sprouts. The bao pork is more like a chinese taco rather than a sealed bun but delicious. Good beer, will be back
This place is a blessing in our neighborhood. The staff is incredibly responsive, cheerful and knowledgeable. The restaurant always feels like it is on the verge of a celebration making us glad we are there for the party. The food is fresh, imaginative and plated to share. My husband and I almost always share a salad and an entree. The beer and wine lean toward local and that warms our hearts in a couple of different ways.
Would give the food max stars but in every restaurant that I frequent I look for specials that draw me off my menu favorites. This is a small and rather personal benchmark that may speak more to the strength of their menu then then any shortcomings with their specials. It is the only thing that prevents me from throwing all the stars in the sky at East End. They rock.
Awesome! Our first time there. We visit Santa Cruz/Capitola each year and have added this to our list of favorite restaurants. Quality first rate and portions over the top. Shared a roasted Brussels sprouts - husband ordered the ratatouille pizza and I ordered the chicken salad - either one was more than enough to share, but both was too much for 2! Next time we’ll downsize. Service very professional and pleasant. Reservations a must.
Very poor food and worse service. The waiter literally forgot one order completely then lied as to what happened. Avoid totally!!!
Really enjoyed this place for food and ambiance. Great service!
Couldn't have possibly been better. Great experience. Will most certainly be back. Lance, you're the best!
Noise is a given. The food here is fabulous and great portion size!
Delicious! The food was fresh and tasty. Everything came to the table in a timely manner. The chef was very accommodating and even did a substitute for my restricted diet. The waitress was bright and attentive and the place was well packed. If you want a good meal, at a good price, in a good atmosphere, you found it!
Great service and great food, thank you!!!!
Wings were yummy! Brussel sprouts are delicious. Good happy hour options too!
I've been wanting to try East End Gastropub for a while and finally went. The food was delicious and plentiful. Waitress was a bit too perky and it was busy so the room was loud. Will return.
My husband and I had a post-movie dinner at East End Gastropub last week and we will be back! We've eaten several lunches there but never dinner, and were delighted with the expansive menu. I had grilled steelhead trout on a bed of baby limas and charred radicchio. The flavors played off each other beautifully and the small scoop of trout roe was a lovely touch. Husband had duck mole--another winning dish. Duck was cooked perfectly and while the mole could use a bit more spicing it was well balanced. We shared a half liter of the Savingnon Blanc on tap and for $22 it was not only tasty but a great value. The service was efficient and friendly even though the place was packed. Make reservations--they are popular for good reason.
Excellent, thanks for the wonderful service
I will come back here for Happy Hour, but not for meals. Beer is really good, but food is overpriced.
My friends and I had a great time having brunch at the East End Gastropub. The drink menu was expansive and interesting, the food was well made and tasty. Portions are big, so don't go crazy getting multiple sides unless you're starving... a lot. We ended up with a bunch of leftovers. Our server was super nice and service was A-1. The ambiance is modern but warm and welcoming. Felt it was a great experience. Most memorable dishes: Bread pudding bites, korean bacon bowl, crab benedict. Would definitely visit again and recommend for those who want a nicer/more sit down option in Santa Cruz.
The flavors and food quality were excellent! We were visiting the area and can not return bit we certainly would! All of the staff we came in contact with were really helpful and happy too!
We're out-of-towners who have eaten at West End for years, and we're just as impressed with East End. Food was great, and our server was excellent. It has a cozy, neighborhood pub feel to it. On a sunny day I'd miss the outdoor seating of the West End, but it was no problem in the rainy day we were there.
It was a bit hard to have a conversation because the music was so loud. It might have been that it felt like we were directly in front of the speaker. Not sure but that’s my only complaint.
