Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Burr Ridge
We go to this restaurant pretty often. Their steaks and salads are REALLY GOOD! This was the first time we went there that the service was just "OK". The hostess wasn't as on top of things as usual either. She said she would find out somemthing for us about gift cards and then never got back to us. When I finally left our dinner and went back to her to find out and order the gift cards, I suggested she take my credit card and bring me the gift cards when they were ready, but she said it would be quick. It took rather a long time while my husband was sitting at our dinner table alone - waiting for me to get back! (lots of receipts, bonus cards, signing, waiting, typing things in, ... and then doing it all again because I needed two.) It seemed to take forever while the food was getting cold back at my table. She should have offered to bring them to me for signing when she had everything ready - especially considering I asked. Or at least suggest I get them on my way out after dinner. All in all though, we will be back - because the food is great! And service usually is as well. I'm confident this was just a fluke. Most people would probably think service was just fine, I'm just used to "super fine" there.
What can I say other than....EM's is our favorite restaurant! The food is always fabulous, the ambiance is romantic and the people there are absolutely wonderful! Our server, Ray, knocks it out of the ballpark every meal. His attention to detail is Amazing..... from bringing our drinks out to the table even before we sit down, suggesting the new items on the menu, and his flair for making our dessert at the end of the meal! He is definitely an asset to Eddie Merlot's. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to visit with the manager Kevin this time, so he was missed, but the General Manager, Mike, graciously came to welcome us and visit with us. Thank you all for always making our dinner a wonderful experience!
We were celebrating our anniversary as well as our parents' anniversary. We all started with cocktails. My husband had the burnt orange Manhattan, which was very good, and I had the Irish Maid which was even better. for apps we had a cheese board and the lobster escargot. Everyone has steaks which were cooked to perfection. Our server Jeff was on top of his game as usual. My one complaint, we had a reservation for the bar and their was no where to sit so we sat in the back room of the bar so that we could have Jeff as our server. We have been their several times and have only sat in the bar. With this being said, I have never sat in the table chairs. I have a bad back and worked all day. I have to say these were the most uncomfortable chairs I have every sat in, the back is straight up and the seating area was too short. I could not get comfortable and I did not fully enjoy my meal. I even skipped my favorite dessert - the vanilla cognac brownie. Next time, if we cannot get bar seating, I'll have to request a booth.
We tried new entrees this time - I had oysters and my husband had the new pork chops. Both were delicious! We tried the Rodney Strong chardonnay that was on special and it was nice and crisp and light. We had a coupon for a dessert from a prior visit so we shared the peanut butter cup - it was fantastic! It was light and not very sweet. Our server, Ray, was very nice and attentive.
We had a fantastic meal again at EM. The food is always cooked to perfection! We enjoyed a delicious Ribeye that was cooked to perfection! The service staff is outstanding and the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. Our server, Ray, is as usual so amazing! Always remembers exactly what we like and never disappoints! Nick, the bus person is always quick to say hello and make sure our table is cleared and our meal is packed perfectly. Kevin, the Manager.....what can I say....he is Special! Go Sox! 😉
Bobby was our server and he was excellent, as always! He gave us time to enjoy a cocktail and relax before ordering! We started with a Caesar Salad for one of us and the King Crab & Corn Bisque for the other. For our entrees we both had the Pork Shank and added onions and mushrooms! Excellent! And for the dessert we had the Peach & Apple Cobbler ! Everything was delicious once again!
Is it possible to have more selections for lounge menu?
Beautiful restaurant. Most if the food items were good. Service very slow.
Wait staff slow, only turned in part if our order we never got the sides. Food ok not great.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday, Our server was very attentive , had suggestions for specials that evening. My husband had steak that was done to perfection and I had sea bass that was so flaky didn’t need a knife . Highly recommend for any occasion.
Frantastic Food, Fantastic time!
Excellent experience as always. We had the new item "charbroild oysters" - to die for! Then we went with the Maxwell topping on my bone-in filet and my wife on her Sea Bass. Wonderful! My mouth is watering again while I write this :-)
Bruce was our server and he was excellent, as always! We started with Baked French Onion Soup and King Crab & Corn Bisque which was quite delicious, as always! We also really enjoyed our entrees very much too which were the Filet Del Mar and the Bison Filet Mignon! Excellent Server and excellent Meal! Win Win!
Exceptional service from front desk to server. Manager is superb. Food is nicely prepared and wonderful tasting. The potstickers are great appetizers and the steaks are always perfectly cooked to order. The wine list is expansive and friendly, though I can never understand why any restaurant doesn't discount a bottle of wine relative to their per glass charge. I bet more bottles would be sold if they did. Getting the public better prices on wine at restaurants has been my personal crusade for years. All of their higher end wines are perfectly chilled. This restaurant has an exceptional bonus program, so be sure to ask your waiter or the manager for details.
My husband and I like to eat at the bar at Eddie Merlot’s. The ambiance is much better and friendlier there. We ate with friends in the dining room last weekend and found it stuffy and not a pleasant dining experience. The service was not attentive. We got our bread when our salads were almost done. The food we had was good: salmon, scallops, chicken and pork chops but expensive. The last unpleasant moment took place when my husband went to the bathroom. As he was washing his hands, a waiter came into the bathroom carrying a bag of leftovers for one of the diners. The waiter did his business and then came out of the bathroom to deliver the leftovers. I’m glad we didn’t had any leftovers that evening! Why would a waiter bring food into a bathroom?? Gross!
We strive to make everyone feel comfortable in the restaurant. We value every guest that walks through our doors, and we missed that mark with you.For that I am sorry. Our staff does bathroom checks throughout the evening, replenishing bathroom supplies from our to go bags.We do not want to give any impressions that we would bring any of our guests' leftovers into the restrooms,so we will be using a different container for that purpose.Feel free to contact me with any questions.-Kevin Boudreau, AGM
The service was absolutely amazing as the food.
AMAZING!!! Love this place and the wonderful people!
Amazing food and great casual ambiance in the bar. Love this place !
1st time to this restaurant, a very nice place for a romantic dinner. Had the fillet, mine, well done was burned a bit. My wife had the same steak and it was perfect. The wine list is very nice, a little pricey but not terrible. We look forward to our next visit.
We were here for our Wedding Anniversary. We are beer and burgers kind of people so this was a treat for us. Service was great, there were two servers and a bus person who were servicing our table. The only reason I did not give 5 stars for food and service was because we ordered the brussel sprouts and they were very hard/al dente. We asked for them to be cooked longer so they were softer. The server right away said "No problem, I am sorry. I will get you new ones right away." The problem is they brought a new serving that were cooked the same exact hard/al dente. They kindly took them off the bill however I would have been happy to pay for them if they were cooked to our specification.
We were put into the room to the right that had 2 large parties, EXTREMELY loud. Then we’re told the kitchen was behind. Took close to 2 hours to get our meals out. I ordered the filet and blackened shrimp, and I got cold unseasoned shrimp. Not worth the money spent and time spent waiting.
Service was great
Food was excellent, liked the food, atmosphere & drink better than some of the higher touted steak houses. Staff was beyond helpful, attentive & all all around a pleasure to be around
Very expensive but also very nice. It’s not a restaurant I can frequent but I will return.
Attentive wait staff, excellent food and the timing of our drinks, salad and main entree were perfect.
Our first dining experience at Eddie Merlots was very disappointing. My husband and I dined there on Sweetest Day. The ambiance and service were wonderful but the food not so much. My husband’s steak was undercooked- rare instead of medium rare and had to be replaced. It was also extremely fatty even for a ribeye which normally has some fat content. We felt a $50 steak at a steak restaurant should be cooked perfectly the first time. It wasn’t even extremely busy that night. Unfortunately we won’t be back. There are too many other good steakhouses to choose from.
Was not the most affordable dinner but the meal and experience was outstanding.
Great! Dinner was delicious & nice selection of entree’s. Atmosphere was warm, welcoming and comfortable. Jesus are waiter was outstanding... very kind, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Will definitely be back but not for a while...expensive but worth it. Thank you!
Best steak I ever had!!!! Would highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Good consistent food and service
This was a great experience, from the time we walked in until the time we left we had a wonderful time. Exceptional service, excellent food, and an incredible time.
Kevin was our server and he was excellent! He gave us time to relax a little before we ordered! We started with the Caesar Salad and for our entrees we both ordered the Salmon with spinach and fingerling potatoes! Everything was excellent as always! Thank you, Kevin!
We really enjoyed our meal on Sunday! I would highly recommend Eddie Merlot's! We'll be back soon.
Very good service and food was wonderful
Felt the food was extremely over priced for the quality. More expensive than restaurants in the city and not near as good of quality. Bad experience over all.
This is the best steak we have ever had. The staff is extremely friendly. This is a great place for a date night or to celebrate something special.
They are amazing as always! Steaks cooked to perfection. The new corn casserole is fabulous! Our server Ray is outstanding!Kevin, the manager is always so warm and welcoming and a true SOX fan! 🤣. You guys are awesome!
Love the food and atmosphere, particularly in the bar area which is which is less formal while being stylish and more sophisticated. Two of their servers, Bruce and Geoff, make dinning in their Birr Ridge location, particularly satisfying. Always a great time when eating there.
Geoff was our server and he was excellent. We started with the romaine Waldorf salad. Our entree was the new scallop dish. Once again we had an enjoyable meal.
