Fallon & Byrne - Exchequer Street Restaurant
It had been a few years since I last ate here and was looking forward to the return. We were met by extremely friendly and courteous staff who were also discreet. I was pleasantly surprised at the wine prices for some really decent wine. So many restaurants now have sky high prices. We were three and I had the pork rillettes which were beautiful. The accompanying sauce and mushroom medley were perfect. The others shared a plate of oysters with no complaints. For mains we chose the lamb shoulder (sublime) trout and rib eye cooked exactly as requested. We passed on deserts. Overall it was excellent with the exception of the acoustics. It's hard to hear yourself think at times and does seem to be a recurring complaint. I just wonder if the management have looked into this issue. However, I will be back.
Everything was top class. Our party really enjoyed the night. The food, wine list, cocktail menu and Gin list was amazing. The service was welcoming, warm, friendly and genuine. Our only critisim was that phone lights were needed to see the menu as lighting was a little on the dark side and noise level was on the loud side, made it a little difficult to have normal level of conversation but these were minor things and didnt spoil our evening. Still worthy of 5 stars. We will be back
Dated restaurant with no choice of Food to avoid absolutely
Aperitifs downstairs in the wine bar followed by beautifully cooked hake upstairs in the restaurant made for a wonderfully enjoyable evening all told,
Beautiful tasty food but the vegan meal was a bit actually a big bit overpriced.
Besides that it was wonderful
It was very noisy and the food was overpriced, the service was good but wouldn’t go again
Had a lovely time here. Staff were great. We ordered from the vegan menu and the mains were lovely. Deserts weren’t great, the crumble could have had actual crumble on top instead of just oats and the kinder dessert cake didn’t taste like much at all but the coffee sorbet was amazing so a proper piece of chocolate cake or brownie with it would be amazing.

We had a terrific dinner at Fallon and Byrne. We would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling in Dublin. The food and service were great, and the value was very good.

Food, drinks and service were all top notch. Great location as well.
Hi there, Thank you for your lovely review! We hope to see you again soon.
I have eaten there many of times and tonight was my least favourite they burned my steak and also when they are seasoning the steaks they always put too much salt on them we meant to mention on this visit not much salt
Good price. Average food. Lamb shoulder special was dry. Average service. Could have sold more than one round of drinks if they came back to check on the table. That being said, would go again if looking for a safe place to make a last minute reservation and nothing else was available.
It was my best friend's birthday so I treated her to lunch. We were greeted warmly and given a complimentary glass of champagne which was much appreciated. The staff were very helpful and courteous and we had an excellent experience. We will definitely be back.😁
A bit noisy but was Friday evening.
The menu needs to be updated on the Open Table app. We went expecting a totally different menu than what we saw upon arrival. The food was good but we were looking forward to other options. Saw our waiter twice when he took order and when he picked up plates.
Never fails to delight!
Packed and noisy
Gorgeous good and great service
Always a nice spot to drop into - great staff who look after you
The peas and chorizo risotto could've been better, as well as the chicken. It was little bland.
But the deserts and service were very good.
I buy groceries here and love the food. However this visit was uncomfortable. From when we arrived we were requested to move seats on 2 occasions, and only chose the restaurant because comfortable seats were not available in the cellar. When we didn’t order starters, we were told our food would be 25 mins to 30 mins. We didn’t mind, however the food was cold on arrival. The staff were continuously checking when we were finished, it was not the enjoyable experience I have had in the past, more like a conveyor belt. So disappointed 😔
Good food and service. But the decibel level is too high. Would recommend with caution. Not for an intimate meal.
We were directed to the restaurant by our Tour Company and when I went to the website and saw the menu it was clear we had to give it a try. We were able to book a reservation online about 90 minutes before the time we wanted to dine. The staff was great and we didn't have any problems because we were 20 minutes late (Dublin rush hour and Google maps led us on quite the tour of the city before we arrived). The staff was welcoming and the food was terrific. You couldn't ask for more. A wonderful restaurant.
This is a great room wih good ambience. staff are both friendly and professional and gave good advice. One of my favourite places in Dublin!
Great service, lovely food, very nice ambiance... The staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests.
Very enjoyable evening - excellent food and ambience
The meal was fabulous, the presentation was amazing, and the cocktails were delicious!
Our best meal in Dublin. Service was friendly and very accommodating for complicated gluten and diary-free requests from our group. We particularly enjoyed the cucumber & avocado gazpacho which was a delicious twist on an old favorite, and both the trout and aubergine main course were very good.
I really enjoyed my meal but unfortunately my partner's main course was very disappointing. He ordered the vegan cauliflower main and when it arrived it was just cauliflower and raisins. Other than that the meal was fine.
Food was really good and well priced and staff very friendly and helpful and handy to have the lift for one of the party in a wheelchair. My only issue was being squashed at the table where my chair back was pretty much stuck between the two people at the next table so not very comfortable. It improved when the table on the other side emptied and we got up and moved our table so we could sit properly. Otherwise a great night and lovely food!
Excellent service for a Saturday night and good food, beautifully presented, but the experience was marred by a table of 30 plus with shrieking children and constant flash photography which spoiled the dining for all the other clients. When the group finally left at 9 pm, everyone could establish a civilised level of conversation.
Absolutely fantastic early bird dinner menu but what really sold it for me was that nearly off the desserts could be made gluten free! Its very rare to find that so I will definitely be going again!
Food wasn’t as good as we thought it would be. Meat had a burnt taste on the outside. Everything else was fine.
Food excellent, value for money very good, however I noise levels to be off putting and was disappointed to be served a bottle of white wine that was at room temperature as opposed to chilled.
I have to say I did not find it up to their usual standards and so was a little dissappointed.
Possibly the noisiest restaurant we've been in! The place was filled with people yelling and shouting at each other. They seem to cater to loud weddings and "hen" parties. Pity as the food and service was good but the overall experience was poor.
If you want a place to meet for a meal then be prepared to shout all night at the people at your table then this is for you.
Fallon and Byrne was highly recommended to us by our food tour guide. It was excellent. We had the pre-theatre menu; the food was delicious (much of which was locally sourced) and the service was attentive, but not obsequious. We enjoyed the ambience and decor of the restaurant. Since we arrived early, it wasn’t noisy, but that might be different if the restaurant was full. The food was excellent value for the money, but it was not cheap. Check out the market—it has a wonderful selection of locally grown foods, on the high end side, but worth the price.
Great place for lunch for 8 persons food divine ..Had a great afternoon Thank you
Our evening in this restaurant was excellent it exceeded my expectations. The room is spacious and comfortable All of the dishes were very good, cooked to perfection and well presented. I myself had the chicken and risotto and I the risotto was one of the best I have ever tasted Service was very good and overall I could find no short comings.
This was a wonderful restaurant. They were particularly accommodating to my son’s milk allergy. We felt very welcome and comfortable. The food was also excellent. I would highly recommend.
Where to start.... avoid at all costs, it felt as if we are at a cattle market, the noise level to high we couldn’t even talk to each other.
The starters are well over priced compared to other leading establishments within the city.
€35 euros for a fillet steak is a joke, you’d expect a tomahawk steak at that price.
Children were also running around the place at 10pm, it’s not that we don’t like children. However, there is a time and a place...
Sorry, but we won’t be returning.
