FIG & OLIVE Chicago
Great dinner. Food was great as well. Danilo was very attentive and super nice. He made our evening very enjoyable.
Incredibly noisy, the Muzak is worse than the din. Food was okay, yet highly overrated. The restaurant has effectively become a “chain” restaurant, in the unflattering sense of the word. ...The fritters were a big disappointment, essentially they tasted like fried balls of Campbell’s Mushroom Soup. There was nary a slice of mushroom to be found in any of them. However, the waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and was a good server. Overall, the restaurant is a place for millennials to see and be seen. If you are a serious foodie, and not just someone looking for a trendy place to eat, you’d be better off dining at Nico Osteria about 100 yards away.
Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant as I had just read some negative reviews on another website. The restaurant on the third floor was upscale, trendy decor, busy but not overly loud. The menu was exciting, so many choices, making it hard to decide, and the food was spectacular, exceptional. Had an excellent, friendly, knowledgeable waiter; service was leisurely but not overly slow. Enjoyed the whole experience and would certainly return should I visit Chicago again. The prices were a little high, but I soon discovered that was the norm for Chicago restaurants of that caliber. I wish there were such a wonderful place closer to home.
The only thing at this time was that the restaurant section with the large bar was closed off for a private event that they were setting up for. So we sat upstairs, not as many opportunities to have the window view from there. We did however, enjoy every bit of our meal and our server was wonderful.
Loved the ambiance , great menu and food was delicious and also had wonderful service
Lovely atmosphere with great food. We will be back next time we’re in Chicago.
Pretty but pricey given you’re eating on Oak Street.
Virtually no vegan options at all (salad doesn’t count). Lamb burger was not cooked properly and not tasty. Cool vibe but menu and service were lacking.
Food was not very good. Salad was overdressed and simply didn’t taste very good.
Delicious!!!!!! Very charm and quiet place! Go for the poched eggs!
Awesome! Food is fantastic!
We had a great time! Our waiter was awesome did a great job explaining everything and providing recommendations.
Food and drinks were outstanding! Great wine selection too!
The service at Fig and Olive was exceptional. The staff was very attentive and courteous. However, it was very difficult to hold a conversation with the people at my table. The noise level seemed a bit excessive and it brought down my opinion of the place. The food was very good; I ordered the fillet mignon and I thought it was perfectly cooked. The restaurant’s olive oils we found to be very flavorful as well.
Beautiful restaurant and excellent seafood selection. I particularly enjoyed the olive oil selection
Danilo our waiter was amazing, and so was the food.
The food was outstanding and the wait staff very attentive. Can’t wait to go back!
The restaurant could really use a bit of updating. The tables are scratched and worn, the ladies room, in the same condition. Our server was lovely and personable, and the best part of the evening. The food she recommended to us was delicious but was not the right temperature. My bouillabaisse was luke warm at best, and the roasted cauliflower had good flavor but was cold. My husband’s paella was also not warm enough. I wouldn’t rush back.
fantastic food and service in a very stylish dining room
Always love dining at Gig and Olive. The food is delicious and service impeccable!
Excellent service. Great food quality. Delicious.
My family was visiting. They loved the food and the place!
Came for a light lunch for my mom’s birthday. Super friendly and attentive service and the food was fresh and beautiful, as always! Will be back again.
We tried this for our 20th wedding anniversary and found it a fantastic experience. The food was exceptional, wine was excellent and above all the service was out of this world. We did not feel rushed at all and the staff regularly checked in how we were doing without making you feel you had to order something else or leave. It was also possible to have good conversation. There is background noise but it just tends to keep your conversation more private. I would recommend this restaurant.
Enjoyed dinner for two in lounge. Crostini are great. We had branzini and tuna entrees, which were well prepared. Nice to have an entree that includes a few vegetables and potatoes. Service was great. Will be back.
I was supposed to receive 1,000 Open Table points for my dinner, but received only 100. Could you explain please????
April, our server was fabulous!
The food was all delicious!
Service was not good in comparison to the upscale food and ambiance. Unexperienced workers, not great manners. Very casual.
Had a lovely meal sitting out on the terrace. Waiter was very nice. Food was wonderful!
Perfect day to have lunch outside and FandG’s outside deck is wonderful! Lovely, attentive service and great food.Thank you so much.
We had bday lunch here on Monday and everything was great. Place is beautiful, we got great tbl, food was delicious and service attentive. I put a note it’s a bday but wasn’t sure if they pay attention on it. But they do! Was very happy when we got dessert with candle. Thank you!!
Two of the three meals ordered were incorrect. One person had to eat alone because the food Gad to be sent back and the rest of the party had to eat so it wouldn’t get cold. Sad.
Always love this place but this night started with them seating us in what was really the lounge, in low chairs and a small table disputed advance reservations. Then are waiter acted like he would get a bonus if we left in less than an hour. Food was great, but rushed service is a downer when we just wanted to relax and have a casual dinner. He was nice enough, but I hate hurried service. Still love F&O, just an off night.
I took 2 family members lthat I hadn't seen for quite a while and was looking forward to "catching up" but it was very hard to hold conversations because of the noise level. The 4 of us are in our 70's and I guess we should have chosen a quieter place. We loved the service, food and atmosphere but we all got tired of having difficulties conversing. The talking was loud and the restaurant had someone playing music which was totally unnecessary (only made everyone speak louder).
Able to eat outside, but above street level on a beautiful evening in Chicago. The food and service were both wonderful. A gem!
This is my third time going and it think because of their limited menu that does not change the choices are limited. I had the hanger steak and I wanted it well done and it come burned, my friends had the lamb burger and it was not that great either. I had a blast the first time I went so I was very disappointed.
Great meal. Love the place and live here. Brought in business folks for dinner. Excellent food and drinks. Waiter was a bit pretentious.
Very attentive service and great food.
I definitely understand everyone has different experiences and expectations but i'm surprise this place doesn't have five stars. This was a surprise birthday dinner for my one of my best friends celebrating her golden birthday this month. My friend is a vegetarian and since this birthday is so special I wanted to find the perfect place and I did!
Our reservations was for 5:30 PM. I thought from the website and Google they offered valet but it might be during a certain time? Either way it did not matter because there is plenty of street parking (pay at meter or if you have the parkchicago app). Luckily we found a spot right in front! When you walk in, you take an elevator up to the second floor which is the main dining area. Amazing ambiance and beautiful decor. My friend and I were obsessed with the bar and how there is a tree in the middle with lights!! It feels so warm and inviting. The lighting is very Intimate. I love that all their seats are so comfortable! Food is fresh and delicious with so many flavors! Even the food presentations is beautiful! The Culinary team puts a lot of heart into each dish and you can tell by looks and taste! Our server was Bebe and she took really good care of us, was friendly, offered great recommendations and made my best friends birthday even more special! Crowd was very diverse. There was older and young people, couples, families with kids, and groups of friends. I am not sure how it is during the week, but I recommend for dress code purposes business casual. It is a little pricey but the menu offers something for everyone and truly is worth the experience!
