FIG & OLIVE Chicago
I have been here many times, each a great experience. This time I had the worst service. I brought guest here from out of town, and expected the experience to be as great as I have had before. We had 930 reservations, we were sat immediately on the 3 rd floor. Our server brought us water( blonde guy ) didn’t ask for our drinks or apps. He then took 18 minutes to come back to our table for drink orders ... he walker by several times and avoided eye contact. Then he came up and said “ya I’m busy it’s Valentine’s Day”and gave us attitude. He took our drink order, came back after 10 minutes and my drink was incorrect, when I mentioned it he acted as if it was inconvenience for him.. his attitude continued till mid dinner. It was very disappointing and quite frankly embarrassing that I brought my guest there l.
Food came out late, cold and over done.
The service and cocktails ended up being the only portions of the night that were deserving of the price. The poorly cooked seafood, mediocre dessert, and odd music selection really put a damper on the evening. Will potentially try again, but definitely not for a special occasion or holiday.
Great Valentines Day price fixed menu
Upstairs is much more quiet then down stairs.
It was a enjoyable Valentine’s Day dinner. Selected special menu was provided and with high quality. In the mean time common day menu was also available and one can choose their desired food. We ordered a steak and it was the perfect medium rare.
Really good vibe, with varied table groups
Service was hands on
Food good quality value portions
Menu description was correct
Good wine section enjoyed the spin on brunch cocktails
Worth a visit - need to be there for dinner next
Went for a date night during restaurant week and had the fixed menu. Delicious from appetizer to dessert. The hit was the truffle mushroom risotto. I added 5 grilled shrimp to mine. Probably the best risotto I have had so far! Worth a try!
Phenomenal restaurant. The environment, the food, the drinks, the dessert were all incredible.
The restaurant is very pretty with a great ambiance. Comfortable seating with a couch/pillows at the table. The food was delicious and our server was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Do yourself a favor and try all the crostinis!! Will definitely return.
I absolutely loved the blood orange olive oil- so delicious!
The Tomahawak for two was simply delicious and the wild mushrooms an excellent compliment to the meal.
Really good all around
Great dinner for restaurant week!
The first time I tried this restaurant was during restaurant week. I am glad I gave it a shot! The server was awesome 👏 the steak dinner came with mashed potatoes and steamed beans. The cheesecake was the perfect proportion. Everything from the hostess who welcomed me to the waiter to the goodbye at the exit provided a great experience! I will definitely go back!
We had a party of seven there for a business dinner and everyone absolutely loved it. The wine selection was outstanding and one of my clients found her very favorite bottle on the list. The menu was fantastic and the presentation was so nice that several of us took pictures. The service was very attentive, they treated us like VIPs from start to finish. Very special and memorable evening.
Took about 30 min to get seated, but the staff was incredibly apologetic and gave us two(!) free apps! Would go back for sure.
We had reservations at 8 but did not sit down until 8:30. The manager was awesome and made up for it by sending a round of drinks and an appetizer. However, the waitress did not get the memo and the remainder of our dinner took 2.5 hours to finish. She was polite but the service was slow and just inefficient.
Food was very good and not too expensive so it might be worth another shot.
The food was delicious: the crostini, the meals, the desserts… And the service was excellent. The atmosphere was contemporary, and it made for a wonderful anniversary dinner.
Excellent food, service and decor
Excellent experience with both food and service.
Done with Fig and Olive. We used to go there all the time but haven't been for about a year. Went spur of the moment on a Friday night at 8:00 and we were surprised how easy it was to get a table. There were two of us. We split an appetizer (roast cauliflower) , ordered salad to split (which they forget to bring) and then two entrees. The steak was overdone and flavorless. The chicken tangine was so salty I was up all night drinking water. My husband had two drinks, I had a cocktail and two glasses of wine. Bill was $300 for 2 entries and cauliflower . Waiter made up for the forgotten salad and brought us a dessert, which was nice, but we are not dessert eaters. When we left around 10 the place was empty. Striking on a Friday night in a "hot" neighborhood, but now we know why.
I loved my experience! Our waiter was knowledgeable, polite, and pretty cute! The food was amazing as well.
Loved the mushroom croquettes. I see this spot becoming one of my favorites!
This was an great experience. Our waitress April was fantastic!. The food was delicious.
It was great place for my birthday dinner. We loved the appetizers, the drinks and the ambience. Our waitress was very welcoming and friendly😊 i will go back
One of the best dinning experiences ever. Lovely restaurant on every level.
We ordered the lamp chops and they were just OK the eggplant that was with it wasn't good salty
The spinach was so salty terrible.
The cauliflower was great
Our server was wonderful.
We went here for Chicago Restaurant WeekThe meal was great the course timing very well done. Toward the end of our meal a large group was sat directly behind us and they were quite loud which spoiled our dessert. All in all I’d go there again
Our server was amazing!
We went for restaurant week and great roasted cauliflower. Lemon chicken and dessert
The restaurant was not busy, yet we rarely saw our server. She was curt and all of the interactions were brief. It really impacted our meal -- there was no after food delivery check in, no one offered additional drinks and everyone would have ordered more wine. She seemed annoyed that we were there and we're a lovely table and love dining out -- it was just a bummer.
The food was fine. My salmon was thoroughly overdone. And their crostini are tiny. It was generally disappointing.
I was very disappointed this time with Fig & Olive. I have been there many times in the past and had a great experience including during restaurant week . My mushrooms croquet was full of oil and the truffle oil on it tasted stale. my wife's risotto was such a small portion that she was able to eat the whole plate (which never happen) and it was not so special as well as my salmon. To pricy for the quality.
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. A little pricey, but worth it.
Matilda was our server. She was very able to explain all options for brunch . Service was excellent. The Restaurant week brunch option was an excellent value. It really gave you an overall tasting for the great food this establishment serves. The food was so fresh and tasted so fresh. I will be back for dinner
The food was beyond delicious! You have to try the truffle risotto and the pork loin. Can’t wait to go back. Service and ambience were just as nice.
Mushroom starter was incredible!
