Love their food. Always happy to go there whenever we are in Monterey. The Barramundi is especially yummy.
Good seafood restaurant, not much ambience but great service.
Went to Fish Wife for a birthday celebration lunch. The service was really good, well paced for our leisurely meal. Some of the dishes were good (the tostada, quesadilla), and the fresh coconut calamari appetizer and molten chocolate dessert were outstanding. Their primary fish in most of their standard menu items was tilapia - I was surprised by this considering the name and location of the restaurant. They did offer local fresh fish dishes as specials - the fish and chips made with local rock cod was cooked perfectly and really delicious.
This place is nothing fancy but one of those classic local spots my husband and I come back to each time we visit the Monterey Peninsula. Great seafood with a Latin twist—the salsa Fresca makes everything better, even clam chowder! Great coconut shrimp.
Great, friendly ,attentive service and yummy food!
The food was delicious and we felt like locals. Highly recommended.
Our hostess and server were friendly and we had a nice table. Generous pour of wine.
Unfortunately, I ordered the special "seabass" for $30 and my companion had the "sole" from the menu. Both were thin sliced, extremely dry pieces of fish, overcooked and hard to swallow. Maybe try something different from the menu, but don't order the fish. Expensive for a bad meal.... Will not go back.
The food is outstanding and the service was even better. Locals, please support this restaurant when you're craving seafood.
Definitely do not recommend. Service was great, food was not. I recommend getting a $1 box of pasta roni instead of the Alfredo that has no flavor. To say the least.. not satisfied.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I made a wrong date reservation and they still sat us. They also tolerated two very energetic toddlers. The food came out timely and we all know that is the key to keeping toddlers happy. The menu is versatile. Clearly the focus is on sea food, but it also had meat and vegetarian options. If you are staying at the Asilomar, you can happily have multiple meals there within walking distance. Our friends enjoyed their fun cocktails, I thought they had well chosen wine selection.
Delicious food. Ok wine selection Was empty at 3pm on a Friday afternoon of the May long weekend.
Great service; food was fresh and delicious. Decent variety of local craft beers. Great location.
Absolutely horrible!!!! I made a reservation and let them know I have a service animal. When I got there, they sat me outside under a tent that had no heat and was freezing cold. There were tables available inside as I watched several newcomers come in and were instantly seated inside. We were the only customers that had been seated in the outside area. We waited uncomfortably for 20 minutes and no wait staff came to ask us if we wanted a beverage let alone ask us for our order. I know they seated me outside because of my service dog. I have never in my life been treated and humiliated like that from any other establishments. My registered service dog is well trained and is with me 24/7. When in a restaurant she patiently lays at my feet until prompted. Needless to say....we walked out and got back into the car and went to another restaurant where we felt welcomed. I will never recommend or go to Fishwife again. Apparently they aren’t familiar with the ADA regarding service animals.
The Fishwife was my favorite seafood place when I lived in Pacific Grove for five years.
Returned after about 12 years since my last visit. The food, service, and chill vibe has not suffered with time. (The building could use some freshening, but a touch of funk is fine in my book.) I am so glad they are still there and still slinging some of the best and freshest seafood in Monterey County.
This place changed quite a lot. Maybe its post covid but the food was not great, overpriced for the value and quality. The fish was overcooked. Hopefully they can improve as this was such a good place.
Very Covid conscious, greeted us outdoors and offered inside or outside seating. Lunch selections from the menu were numerous and there were even specials. Food was fresh and tasty.
Lovely family run fish house . Very good food and service by Asilomar beach.
This was a birthday celebration but didn’t seem very special. Food was good but not spectacular. Service was good but not extraordinary. No birthday acknowledgment at all. Fairly ordinary...nothing special.
My friend and I had a wonderful meal of the Prawns Belize - incredibly good. The staff was so pleasant and attentive. Very nice seafood restaurant with a friendly local atmosphere. I will definitely go back!
Great food Great service. Best clam chowder ever and will definitely be back.
The food was very well prepared. The server was very attentive. We enjoyed our meal very much.
Absolutely delicious! Off the beaten path and a great find.
Amazing place. Food, service locale. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, great location and good service. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Waiter was fantastic. Very friendly and great sense of humor. The scallops were some of the best i have ever had. Always a favorite place to stop.
Perfect place to enjoy good food; drinks and conversation!
Visited in the past and loved it. Unfortunately, things have changed. Waited 15 minutes past reservation time. Waited 10 minutes before anyone came to our table after being seated. Food was under seasoned. Only saving grace was a nice glass of wine.
We were a little late for our reservation, but they were so kind and accommodating and got us right in. We took a little trip with some friends for the day and it was a perfect ending with delicious food and great service.
the food was great, the wine was great the service was great. but it was very cold in the room. not comfortable .price was fair, menu interesting.
We split the caesar salad and was very satisfied with the portion.
The food was fresh and cooked well!
We've eaten here several times in the past. Despite having reservations, we were seated in a windowless tent in the neighboring motel's parking lot. My husband's mojito was weak and mostly ice. Our appetizer (mussels) arrived at the end of the meal and we had to ask for them several times. Our dessert (a chocolate truffle torte) was dense as a hockey puck and way too sugary. Service was spotty (they may have been understaffed).
Although the food was tasty enough, we probably won't be returning for a while.
Our waiter was excellent. He was accommodating and made us feel special. This is the second time we have been here and will be back when we are in the area again. So glad they survived covid!
Having both indoor and outdoor seating for Mother’s Day brunch made service unbearably slow. Great food though.
Ambiance is less than desirable. Restaurant needs a renovation especially for the prices they charge. Coconut shrimp appetizer was good, but all three entrées we ordered were bland and simple for the steep prices.
We chose this as our first outdoor dining experience after our shots. It did not disappoint. Although they have indoor dining, we chose outside and had the outside to ourselves. Felt vey safe. The service was perfect even though they had to come outside. We got oytsers! And the wonderful Monterey Clam Chowder which is better than any place else's. Not only was the fish very good, but even the rice was delicious. And the drinks! Try the Citroen spritzer. And with dessert, we had a Spanish liqueur called 43 that was really good. Highly recommended!
Nice SIMPLE unpretentious spot. But we read on their site they had a happy hr and local/fresh catch meals. Neither were available. And they denied they were on the website until we showed them. Our meals were good. But wanted above average seafood. And clam chowder had more vegetable/salsa than clams. Not great. But people were fun. Enjoy.
They have the best calamari I have ever had. Super friendly service
This is one of our favorite places to visit in the Monterey Bay region.
The Service was fine once they acknowledged we were there. The halibut was good and so were the crab cakes but my seafood Alfredo was watery and the scallops under cooked. Did not like eating in the parking lot under a plastic tent would have rather ate inside but the waitress did not even try to accommodate our request.
