Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - San Francisco
I've eaten at Fogo de Chao all over the country at least 100 times. This was hands down the worst experience I've had. Waitstaff was horrible. To be honest, I wasn't paying this bill, but suggested to the person paying to put a minimal tip. Sad to ever have to do that. I can give five examples of ridiculous things that happened during the dinner, including requesting for a clean plate at least three times, requesting for a plate five times(i know, I could have easily gotten up and grabbed a plate, but shouldn't have to), waitress grabbing plates while we were eating(Yes, food on fork and food on plate). I don't think I've ever written a bad review, but, this one is well deserved by the restaurant(Train your people). Please keep in mind, this is $100 per person when it's all said and done. I can get bad service anywhere for a lot less. Made what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner pretty disappointing to a table of 5.
Come with an appetite. Great food and lots of variety.
Excellent food, wonderful service, and a great restaurant to celebrate birthdays.
The quality of the cooking has plummeted. All the meats were overcooked and very salty. While the salad bar was respectable, the variety was diminished. Unfortunately, I was embarrassed since we were celebrating an occasion. I will not return.

Very well presented and prepared dining experience
Great quality meat and plenty of it! Great selection for the salad bar too- come hungry!
I love Brazilian Steakhouses( churrascaria) I’ve being at Fogo de Chão at least 5 times and this last one was the worst experience I ever had, the waitress was nice but the gaúchos, the guys that pass with those big skewers and cut the meat in front of you looked that they were on a bad mood for having to work on a Sunday, every time I said “thank you” they would just walk away with a grumpy face with no response
Last week I went to Espetus restaurant, they don’t have such a nice decor, but they definitely have a great customer service, Fogo de Chão service had been getting worse through the years, I think I won’t be going back, I just hope they improve
Heaven for carnivores! They were very accommodating to us and to my friend's service dog. The salad bar was wonderful too. I have been to both the San Francisco and Phoenix locations. Both terrific.
The servers were all very friendly, meat was excellent.
Man do I love this place and the food they offer. My only complaint, certain meats were NOT available when we were eating. Pork Ribs, Chicken Hearts, and the pork roast all were coming out AFTER we were leaving. We paid for the full dinner, yet these meats were not available. To me, that does not seem right. My wife wanted the ribs the whole time, my kid and I wanted the hearts, and I wanted to pork roast. I didn't ask for them because I assumed they didn't have them, like they didn't have the heart the last time we came. I'm just putting it out there Fogo, don't charge the full dinner price if I was there during the dinner hours (left at 6pm).
Great salad bar- makes a great lunch
Wow!! I brought 3 members of my team out for dinner. The food and service were off the chart. So amazing.
Mediocre service and the food was subpar. Espetus about one mile away is much better and its service is also friendlier. With so many options in SF, I won’t be visiting Fogo again. Tab for 5 was $650+
Awful food (most of the serviced meat was just warm and tasted like old meat), cold buffet.
The offering at lunch was the full experience, salad bar with the option to add any protein for an additional charge or plated lunches.
The salad bar is pretty large and had an impressive amount of choices. I think I would have opted out on the additional protein after seeing what they had to offer.
Server screwed up my beverage order. Then, he seemed to forget my existence. Food was excellent.
I brought my friend for his birthday for dinner. I was excited to share this experience with him.
Halfway through my meal I had to pull the longest hair out of my mouth. I was served a piece of meat with a huge hair in it. I just about gaged. I brought this to the attention of the manager who offered me a 50% discount on my bill and a free desert.
I was very understanding of the mistake. Didn’t make a huge deal about the fact that my $66 plate of food was ruined along with my appetite at that point.
I didn’t think to look at my bill until I got home but learned that I did get a free desert but only was given a 50% discount on one plate. The manager only gave me $44 off of my almost $300 bill. I was still charged for half the cost of the plate of food that I was served with hair.
Now I’m left with the feeling of being taken advantage of. I was completely open to paying for the meal that wasn’t ruined by them but to still charge me for food with hair wasn’t appropriate. Also to lie to me about how they would correct the issue was terrible.
The service was great, the food was amazing, at least until I was sickened by the giant hair in my mouth ruining my meal and appetite.
I don’t think I’ll be returning to this business more so because they lied to me and took advantage of my kindness and understanding.
Excellent food, excellent service! Stuart & all our servers made my daughter's birthday extra special. Thank you!!
I love how they honored my request to have a high chair for toddler. When we got there, the high chair was already placed in our table area. I don’t like the fact that I had to tell 4 people that we requested to have filet mignon . It took almost an hour and 4 people to tell that we wanted filet mignon. Other than that service was great!
In was there with a friend and we both didn’t care for the food. The salad bar was fine but the meat wasn’t that good. Both of us have been to several similar restaurants and this was at the bottom. I also had the shrimp cocktail and it wasn’t fresh. I had two of the six pieces and that was two too many. For the price I would have expected better. I won’t be back.
Lunch during large conference. So crowded that it was impossible to hear. Meat, meat and more meat, but difficult to move to salad area, or other parts for self serve items. Better to visit at quieter times.
Very disappointed. I ordered the single meat option which was lamb. I had to ask the wait team 3 times to send the guy with the lamb over. Nothing. Not until we were running out of time to get to a meeting did the guy come over. Ridiculous for the money. If you have a single meat+ market table option on the menu, serve your customers!!
Everything was fabulous. The Market Table alone would be an exceptional meal, but the meats carved to order at the table are a carnivore’s dream.
The entire staff provided exceptional service, and we even had an opportunity to chat with Daniel, the general manager, who stopped at our table.
I will return!
Amazing service. Very attentive. We were there to eat before going to a concert. We felt like we were getting special attention the whole time. Wonderful food. My sister had the unlimited meat service and I had the salmon with chimichurri. Probably the second best salmon I’ve ever had and the best in the states. Really a wonderful and elegant atmosphere. I can’t say enough good things about the experience.
Delicious food and fun experience. Only downside is we asked to wrap up rolls from our bread basket as we didn't want to waste the leftovers, but their policy doesn't allow it. It does makes sense for an all you can eat spot to prohibit getting food to go and I could see someone abuse it by ordering a large quantity of meat to take home but it was rolls that were already on the table. It's a shame to waste or even worse if they re-served it.
Food was excellent! Service was a bit slow. But over all a very nice experience.
Very disappointing visit this time. Servers seemed to be overwhelmed or the restaurant was understaffed - @ 6:30pm. I imagine this had much to do with the private dinner going on in the back or the other large groups booked at the same time. It was hard to get refills on wine and we had to request the better cuts of meat several times until they finally came to the table an hour into dinner. Looked like most of the staff’s attention was directed at the corporate clients. They are usually pretty attentive to requests and beverages...not this night.
The food is OK, not great. It's expensive for the quality. I would not go back.
The cuts were AMAZING! Everything from service, to attention to detail was a great experience. Will be back soon.
I've had better quality meat selections at other Brazilian steak houses.
We have dined at Fogo de Chao many times for lunch, but this was our first evening dining experience. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent.
Rude host staff. Never got seated. Had reservation and arrived well ahead of others yet others got seated first with later reservations.
We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. We were seated next to the wine display and I needed to move in order for servers to get wine. The service and staff were great! Getting to the buffet was a challenge as tables were right next to each other and I interrupted others to pass by.
Poor service. Very slow to bring the meats around. Only saw the waiter once. Had to ask his helper for the check. Very underwhelming experience.
Host made us wait for our reservations then he forgot about us.
The service was superb. The seafood tower presentation was beautiful however the seafood lacked expected favor and seasoning. The meats were excellent .
Service has always been excellent. Edgar is a wonderful, welcome addition to the San Francisco staff.
