Fogo de Chao - San Francisco
Crowded beyond words, the valet never came out because there was only one on a busy Friday night at 730. The front desk greeting staff was overwhelmed and borderline unprofessional by becoming confrontational with my friends and hanging up the phone whenever people were calling.
On the plus side, the food, drinks and our servers (and primary waitress) were absolutely at the impeccable standards that I have come to expect from having been to Fogo de Chão locations in the US and internationally. I left a 25% tip, and hope the valet and front desk did not get a cut of it at the end of the night.
Good food, but service was slow.
I went to fogo de chão for my birthday on December 8. Booked a table for 4 and they gave us a table for 2.
The waitress were very nice but when the person incharge for customer service came to our table asking what was my thought about the food I said it’s so far not an authentic Brazilian food but I liked the meat etc.
Then we suggested if I want to try a Brazilian food I should go to another place. I was shocked with his rudeness. I won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will never go there again, never
Everything was good it was a rainy day so some of the staff Smelled real bad like wet work out clothes
Nathan our server was great. Very attentive and not over bearing. The meat selections were great as well. Only problem we had was with one of the waiters serving the meat. He cut a piece of the meat and it slid off the cutting board and landed in my lap and then the floor. It’s not really to much of an issue. The meat did stain my dress pants but I’m ok with having it cleaned. His apology was not too sincere and he seemed to have an attitude about it. Other than that we enjoyed our evening there.
With the increasing competition in the Brazilian Steak House category, FdC is starting to get left behind. We went on a Sunday night and were surprised that the variety of meats offered seemed limited compared to other similar venues I have been to in the last year. To be fair, ribeye did show up but not until all at our table were done. Had seen shrimp and chuck roast at other venues but not here. A wider variety of cultural desserts would be nice and less of the standard key lime and cheesecake fair.
The service of the food was excellent and quick but other service for ordering dessert and getting the bill seemed that we had to wait a long time.
Their salad bar and waffles (during brunch) are great!
Quite of the meat was overcooked compared to other Brazilian experiences. Staff was very sweet.
Didn’t have one dish that we expected
Fantastic service, great food. Something for everyone.
We had a terrible experience on Thanksgiving. They over booked the restaurant and couldn't really handle all the reservations. We waited for over an HOUR to be seated. The food wasn't that great either. The meats were ok, some too seasoned and some not seasoned at all. Salad bar was mediocre at best. There a few side dishes that didn't look very appetizing. We never got the potatoes and Plantains we were supposed to get. We ended up paying almost $100 per person for a mediocre meal, bad service, and a lot of frustration. Do yourself a favor and avoid this terrible place.
Thanksgiving night. Place was booked solid. Regardless of your reservation time, you still had to wait. But the front desk staff was always gracious. Waiter Frank was spot-on with everything even though it was a holiday.
They don’t actually honor the reservation; we waiting an hour to be seated. It was absolutely chaotic and disorganized, the heist were rude. Not coming back.
It was pretty hectic, since it was a holiday. There were several VERY large parties that slowed things down. Normally the service is much better paced - but it was packed and they were hustling.
We had to ask for some items a couple of times, which is unusual. I do highly recommend this restaurant- just not on a holiday.
Maybe because we went on Thanksgiving but the wait was over an hour even with our 5p.m reservation. It was ridiculously crowded and children were asleep on their parents laps because they had to wait for minimum of 45 minutes even at 4 pm. They were not prepared for the amount of people and had scheduled each sitting at the wrong length of time. Had I known this in advance I would have gone to another restaurant. We finally got seated but waited another 15 minutes before we flagged down a server.
Had a 4pm reservation and arrived at 3:55 to check in. The host stated that it would be only a few minutes until seated. 4:20 checked back in with the host and still no set time until we were seated. Checked back in at 4:40 to see the status of my reservation... we weren’t seated until 5:03pm. (We had a 4pm reservation!) Slow as molasses. No apology, no sympathy, no let’s make this right. I won’t be back again. Had to ask multiple times for more bread, plantains, drinks, and meat.
Yes, but not kid friendly. There is no kids meal. My daughter left hungry.
Service was great specifically with our Server, Stewart. But all others were very slow and not very attentive. We asked for certain things and still didn’t get to us in a timely manner.
The food at the Farmers Market salad area was sparse, and not tended to very well. We had to come back a couple of times to check if certain items were refilled, which were not both times. Especially for a Thanksgiving Dinner, there was nothing spectacular or special in terms of what was offered for folks to have chosen that as a place to dine during this special occasion.
On top of that, it was our daughter’s 20th Birthday and we mentioned that to our wait staff. No complimentary (even small) dessert offered- had to pay for it.
Disappointed overall. We have no qualms paying for quality but this was not worth it. This place needs more in-depth Management and Leadership training.
Overall, the experience left us feeling uninspired to come back to this particular location.
TL;DR: Avoid this place during the holidays, if you must go expect $100/person (minimum). There's better value to be had elsewhere.
Even at $60/person ($40 special + tax + tip) this would be a stretch. You're paying a heavy tourist tax for a moderate experience.
Fogo de Chao is hit or miss depending on the day. The staff is attentive and service is great, but the meat itself can be very inconsistent. DO NOT go to Fogo de Chao for the holiday meals, you'll be paying above dinner prices ($100/person after tax + tip + wine). The fair market price point for a place should be around $60/person.
Thanksgiving Holiday consisted of dry turkey meat, stuffing, yams, and bacon (in addition to the lunch menu).
Service was really slow.
Very nice atmosphere. Nice and friendly servers. Excellent food. 10/10 would visit again.
The service was nice but overall the food was bland. The same cuts of meats kept coming out and it was very dry and under seasoned. It always seemed to be well done. The salad bar was nice but I was expecting more. Dessert also had a creme brûlée that was cold and didn’t have the sugar caramelized enough. Was actually disappointing.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Went for a weekend lunch, which is just as good as dinner, but less expensive!
Thanks for allowing us to celebrate my daughters 16h birthday and also for the Veterans Day discount. We will be back!
I felt very sick that night with terrible heart burn and stomach ache. I am not sure if it was from this restaurant but could be. My advice: don't overeat there.
El lugar es agradable, el servicio es lento y la comida no es espectacular pero tienen mucha variedad, no me negaría a ir una vez mas pero tampoco es un lugar que yo elija nuevamente.
The meat was delicious!!! The salad bar needed more. The service was not the best even though it wasn’t full.
Food was delicious
However the bar service was very very slow.
We ordered two bottles of wine to start the meal
The server could not find one of the bottles so both bottles were delayed. We had to order a different bottle. That wasn’t a big issue. It was the time to get the wine that was bad. We ordered the wine at the start. It never came until almost desert. 30 minutes into the meal!!!
The starting buffet was very well done with good variety of cheeses, greens and vegetables, and salami, spicy cold cuts etc. The meet dishes were served fast and the variety was also good. It just would have been nice to enjoy the wine we ordered with all of the good food.
We truly enjoyed the complete experience at Fogo de Chao! The staff was outstanding and the food was delicious. It's not in our budget as a weekly event. However, it is perfect for a special occasion. It will definitely be our go-to for birthdays and anniversaries.
It was our wedding Anniversary. The food was absolutely fabulous for the price. We did the whole tasting experience. Excellent Service and the wait staff was always attentive to our needs. Manager came by our table to check on our dining experience. Great food good people! Well worth the price.
Better in larger groups. Waiters closed and finished dinner suddenly.
The salad bar was horrible but the meats made up for it I really think they need to rethink their idea of the salad bar you pay a lot of money for this restaurant and what you're paying for is the meat because of side dishes were inexcusable
Great service and food was excellent
Great experience, as we both enjoyed the food. Wait staff was attentive and nice. The only downside was a very long hair, neither mine ir my dates, was discovered in my food and when brought to managements attention, they acted as if nothing had happened. I chose to not make a scene so as to not disturb the other patrons. No sorry, no nothing. We even ended up paying full price, no discount. I was surprised. Will I return, probably not after how management ha does my particular case. Would I recommend this place, I will.
I've eaten at Fogo de Chao all over the country at least 100 times. This was hands down the worst experience I've had. Waitstaff was horrible. To be honest, I wasn't paying this bill, but suggested to the person paying to put a minimal tip. Sad to ever have to do that. I can give five examples of ridiculous things that happened during the dinner, including requesting for a clean plate at least three times, requesting for a plate five times(i know, I could have easily gotten up and grabbed a plate, but shouldn't have to), waitress grabbing plates while we were eating(Yes, food on fork and food on plate). I don't think I've ever written a bad review, but, this one is well deserved by the restaurant(Train your people). Please keep in mind, this is $100 per person when it's all said and done. I can get bad service anywhere for a lot less. Made what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner pretty disappointing to a table of 5.
Come with an appetite. Great food and lots of variety.
