The service was great for our bottomless brunch! We got our bang for our buck!
Excellent food, cool ambiance, service pretty good. Would definitely recommend.
Staff are amazing
Have been here twice now, once for dinner and once for brunch. Food and drinks are delicious (authentic yet elevated) and the service great!
The tables were a bit cramped. The food and drinks were good but pricey. I know this is New York but there are other Mexican restaurants that serve equally good food with a better value and better ambiance.
Great place :*
The manager on Sunday does not deserve this job or know how to handle it. After recommending this to my friends, we had the worst experience. We were disrespected and ridiculed. After being in New York for over a decade and dining at establishments finer than this one, I will not and do not recommend this to anyone.
Save your money and your time. You and your respect will be discounted upon arrival. Do not come here or to their sister establishments.
Very good creative cuisine, enjoyed all the variety!
The group of five of us all loved our meals and plan to return. Fonda Chelsea has turned into my go-to Mexican restaurant. The Margaritas were excellent, as was the guacamole, and the Barbacoa made with lamb shoulder that I had was perfect. Our waiter was as good as the food.
Great brunch spot with yummy cocktails (free refills for a set amount of time) and a good variety of entree options.
Service was really off. Not sure I’ll come back after many previous visits
Food was excellent, service attentive but noise level awful.
Had a great girls' night out at Fonda, with wonderful service and great food and drink. My only complaint is that we stayed so late that the candles were removed from our table while we were still sitting there :).
Lovely neighborhood spot!
We ordered the guacamole spicy and it was VERY spicy- next time we will get medium!
Altogether a lovely evening.
AWFUL service!! Went for a birthday bottomless brunch. Prior to sitting down the hostess made it VERY clear that the moment our butts touch the seats we have 90 minutes. A little aggressive, but fine.... or it would’ve been had the service not been terrible. It took them 20-30 min to refill the drinks? If you want to be strict on time you should make sure you’re actually serving the guests drinks because it made the experience which should have been fun frustrating, and 100000% not worth the money!
Very friendly service and very good food. The guacamole was great and the entrees were enjoyed very much by all four of us. The ceviche left a bit to be desired as there wasn’t much fish and it lacked much depth of flavor. Still, we’d go again. .
I was excited to check out Fonda Chelsea, because I love their sister restaurant Mi Vida, in DC. However, I was disappointed for a few reasons. 1) As advertised on their website, Mondays are all night happy hour. So my group purposely chose to come on a Monday only to find out upon arrival it is limited to the bar only. 2) Service was bothersome. The wait staff was rushing us throughout our entire meal, and kept asking if they could clear plates as we were still eating. 3) The server also rushed us the entire meal, and spoke in a low and hard to understand tone of voice. I will not be returning, and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone in the city. So disappointing compared to Mi Vida!
Love this place. Gets creative but definitely maintains the authenticity. Cocktails are a bit dangerous but great.
Amazing Saturday brunch spot, date night or drinks spot. Cozy, cute Chelsea gem and the bottomless margs or mimosas on the weekends is such a good deal!
I’ve been to many bottomless brunches where the drinks are watered down, but I was very impressed with both the selection and quality of drinks at Fonda. Food was delicious and wait staff was relatively attentive. I was happy to see so many vegetarian options as well! I thought it was a bit on the pricy side, but given the quality, I can’t complain too much.
Great bottomless brunch and the food was incredible. Second time going to Fonda (first time in Park Slope). Would definitely come back!
Second time to Fonda and what a great time. Delicious food and drink mixed well with the decor and the staff. A fun evening with people who’ve not seen each other in far too long a time.
Too loud, too crowded for a Friday night date.
The waiter couldn’t hear our order and missed a couple items we asked for.
Great food and service will definitely go back
Food was delicious and
We live in the neighborhood and go to Fonda frequently, so when we had friends visiting from out of town, we immediately thought to go there. We were happy that you were able to accommodate our party of 6 downstairs, but overall the service and the food were disappointing. Our server was far from attentive, and even a bit dismissive. In addition, he seemed resistant and discouraging of our request for more salsa verde. The carnitas, one of my favorite dishes, were so salty that they were on the verge of being inedible. Additionally, while we were sitting in the bar area, the music was so loud it made it feel like we were at a club, and we couldn't even hear each other speak across the table. We will chalk it off to a bad night, but I hope that this is not the new normal.
Great food and service each time. Drinks are always delicious and worth ordering. Meals are different and taste is always just right.
My experience was overall very disappointing. Went for all-night happy hour to celebrate Mexican Independence Day as advertised on Facebook. The happy hour was only valid at the bar, which was not mentioned on the on-line ad. The food was ok but overpriced; $15 guacamole for two is unjustifiable. After ordering dessert, the waiter came back 15 minutes later to inform the last badge of hot cocoa “curdled” and they were out of buñuelos (funnel cakes). The ambiance, decor and menu were amazing, but management seems to be an issue.
Good menu and good food. I thought the pico de Gallo and the carnitas was over salted, but I nonetheless enjoyed the authenticity of the food. We went on a Friday around 5:30. It was loud. I had a hard time hearing the wait staff when they came to our table.
Excellent food and service..very loud restaurant. Went from the deafening bar area downstairs to a table upstairs. Still very loud and difficult to talk across table. Perhaps they could put some soundproofing on the ceiling to mute the din. Otherwise a wonderful restaurant.
Too expensive for value-$15 margaritas not worth it. Food good, but nothing special.
Decided to try a new place with my friends. Very energetic bar scene . We were seated at one of the booths across from the bar. I had no idea they had a second floor of seating until well into our meal. had I know I would have requested a table up there so that we can actually hear our conversation. One of the members of our party has a heart issue and cannot eat spicy food. Our waiter made it painfully clear that everything on their menu was spicy and cannot be adjusted so we tried to find the least spicy thing on the menu for him.
My favorite Carne Asada!!! Delicious 🤤🤤
Labor Day weekend so the choice of seating was plentiful. Very nice and accommodating team. Service was quick, but not too quick. Gave 4 stars as they were not busy at all. I’ll go back when its busier. Well done to the team, great experience.
It had been a while, so I had forgotten how great Fonda is. Service was excellent. Food was even better. We’ll be back soon.
All the food was outstanding! The carne asada is one of the best steak dishes we have ever had. Beware they will ask you if you want to start with guac, but it's the $15 dish on the menu, not complimentary. And the place is LOUD if you sit downstairs, even at 5pm on a Saturday. We would definitely go back though, as the food was really terrific.
Food was delicious. Server was great. Very creatively prepared and served. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
We were ready to order dessert (the brownie sundae) and then we were informed that they’ve run out of it, their most popular dessert. It was only about 9pm and the dinner crowd was still going strong.
Food was bland and overpriced for the small portions. Happy hour only at bar not in bar area (where I sat). Short rib in mole sauce was one note: heavy.
