The service was great as well as the food. The ambiance needs some work. It’s too bright and the decor is ok. Could be a little more cozy with more decorations. Hanging white lights would look great but the lights are way too bright for the bar and restaurant.
I was so looking forward to going to this new restaurant, unfortunately we were totally disappointed.. I reserved bar seating and when we arrived was told there was a bar crawl, they seated us in a crappy section, could not even get a booth. We ordered a couple appetizers which came out In about 5 minutes, they were not even hot, their meatballs & their eggplant rollatini, at that point we decided not to even try dinner, I reserved thru open table & mentioned that we were first time patrons and that it was my husbands bday, they did not even acknowledge it. We rarely go into to Hartford, just a waste of time.
Good food modestly priced. Shared an eggplant appetizer, tasty and well done. Caesar salads were fresh, well dressed. Croutons added a soft crunch not a hard one. Veal dishes were both good. Prefered the polenta to the risotto. Cocktails were just right. Try this place out. You can't go wrong.
The food was excellent, staff friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Wine glasses sparkled. The ambiance was not their priority, sort of old fashion. Prices were good value, wine was excellent, good pour. Bathrooms could be updated and cleaned a little more. Overall Good option, we will probably return, but don’t expect a Max Downtown experience or tab. Good crowd of patrons.
Maybe this place still is going through growing pains, but our experience was painful. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and waited by the maitre d stand for over 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. Meanwhile, it quickly became apparent that the staff was overwhelmed. The place was relatively full but few if any people had any food. It seemed that people had been there quite a while and they were becoming angry. People were asking if they could at least get some bread as they were starving. People at different tables were talking among themselves about how bad it was. No one was behind the bar for most of the time we were there. One table finally got served but had no silverware, so the someone had to corral a staff person, and even then the response was slow. Recognizing that the situation was untenable, we finally just left, so we never did get to try the food and probably won't go back.
Had a 7:15 reservation. Waited by check in for 5 minutes before someone noticed us . He told us it would be awhile because “no one is leaving “ . We waited at the bar and the same gentleman asked us if we wanted a drink. I asked him for a wine list . He disappeared. After 30 minutes he came back to us and asked if we wanted a drink! I asked him how our reservation looked and he had no idea what I was talking about. We left.
We felt due to the great article in the local paper they were overwhelmed. They were very understaffed however, our waitperson was excellent. The food was delicious. We will definitely go back, these are hopefully growing pains.
Food was excellent. The service was very very slow. Seemed like they did not have enough staff.
No host to meet our party. Server screwed up on three orders. He corrected them and comped one. Food was fair all around expensive for what it was. Said desserts were made in house but appeared to be bought.
This restaurant accommodated a party of 10 wonderfully. The service and food were excellent and the environment was perfect. Even with 10 of us we were able to hear each other without shouting over loud music or other guests. The setting felt like a family restaurant. Definitely recommend!
Great happy hour deals. We enjoyed our dinners (veal, chicken and salmon). The limoncello cake and tiramisu were delicious. Looking forward to returning after their grand opening which will have the full menu available. Highly recommend!
This is a brand new father/son restaurant moved here from new Haven. I'm an Italian that loves to cook.
They recommended a veal cutlet sandwich that came with two massive freshly breaded and fried cutlets with prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, great bread and toppings. I think this place will become a hit with the locals
The friend I was with had the HOME MADE orecheti with sausage and broccoli rabe which he said was incredible.
Best sandwich I've had in Hartford, hands down.
I made a reservation for bar seating and when we arrived they hadn’t reserved our seats, luckily there were 4 seats available. The bar tenders we nice but seemed a little stressed due to it being busy. Food was okay...limited menu due to it being game night at the XL Center but the options were okay.
