Freds San Francisco at Barneys New York
I was really delighted with everything about my experience at Freds and wish I had discovered them sooner. Excellent omelette!
Gracious and accommodating host. Amazing food with quick service!
i love FREDS its the best spot on union square for a cocktail or bite to eat ! i will miss it terribly when its gone ; ( xoxox
Always enjoy the food, view and atmosphere, Freds will be missed!!
so wonderful as always ! i will miss the great staff, food and ambience of this great place when Barneys closes.
I never quite understood why this space never caught on but it’s always empty which takes a lot of the pizazz factor away....
Overall love this restaurant, a posh oasis in the middle of San Francisco. I've been twice and the first time I had an absolute fantastic brunch. The second time the service left much to be desired. But still, a lovely place to bring a friend from out of town or Mom for Mother's Day.
This is one of my favorite lunch spots. Good food and excellent service. So sorry it will be closing.
lovely place but very expensive. $26.00 mediterranean chicken salad???
Would have appreciated a phone call to alert us that the menu was extremely limited due to the gas being shut off in the restaurant.
Truly the finest lunch in San Francisco
The service are very pool. The reaver was so impolite. I would not back there anymore. And the food are not as good as before and expensive as well. Over all bad experience.
Service was extremely slow.
Also, all fine dining places I know what the ladies order first, the waiter just told me to hold while he get one of my male companion’s order first.
The staff I think isn’t well trained and the kitchen definitely was not.
The burger was amazing and definitely worth going back for!
Great place to enjoy a meal in a luxury setting
the best lunch and cocktails spot on union square by
Great space and service. Poor quality food
A truly delightful lunch, with the best service we have received for a long while. Everything was excellent, would definitely recommend a visit.
Thanks for the delicious brunch and wonderful service - Fernando, Kat, and Tea! Much appreciated, see you again soon for lunch.
Perfect service. Fun menu.
Nice ambiance but the food is not good. As they say go for the view not the food
I would recommend Fred’s as a restaurant that you go to after shopping.
just perfect ! as always. my favorite daytime spot in SF
Excellent service, delicious food (especially fries and margaritas), and wonderful atmosphere.
I hate to recommend this place so highly because I don’t want other people to crowd me out. But it’s a delightful place with a “ladies who lunch” feel.
Went for lunch while on a weekend getaway to San Francisco. Everything was fantastic, we had the Martha Gourmet Burger. Highly recommend!
Great venue for a business luncheon. Easy to find downtown parking. The venue provides a great place to easily talk in the midst of fashion concious patrons. The penthouse location and attentive service added to the experience.
beautiful place, great staff, wonderful food. my union square fav!
Dined here for lunch with my wife after shopping for some dresses for her. We decided to try Fred's since we haven't eaten there and was mildly surprised. Perfect service and nice attitudes. We both had salads and they were huge. She had the Salad Nicoise which came with giant chunks of ahi tuna and I had the Palm Springs Green Goddess salad. Besides the lettuce, it came with four large prawns and we both could only eat half of the salads. Nice clean atmosphere with a nice sized bar area. If we find ourselves shopping at Barney's again, this restaurant will definitely be seeing us again.
Freds is a wonderful place for brunch. The food was fantastic. Our waiter was excellant. The only thing I felt was annoying was that I had reservstions for 5:30pm. I recieved a call to see if were possible for us to change our resevation time to 5:00pm. The reason for the change was so the kitchen could start to shut down earlier. It was not a problem but Freds should change the times for online bookings . This was not a problem for us this time .
The food here is absolutely amazing. The ambience is elegant & minimal.
It stays true to form in so many ways from the original in New York City. While we were eating lunch San Francisco’s mayor sat right beside us..
Such a lovely meal in a great space with little noise
This was my second time eating here. The first time did not go so well. This time was great. We all had a salad - two nicoise and one wedge. They were all substantial and very good. Service and ambiance matched.
Overall a pleasant experience. Would recommend. Decent food, tables well spaced so conversation is possible. Service can be improved. Took a long time to get seated. Had reservation but maitre’d was nowhere to be found. Walked directly into dining area - saw bartender and several servers but none offered to help. I was simply ignored. Walked back to reception and saw a lady there. I told her I had a reservation but she said she worked on another floor at Barneys. She was only here to check on something and indeed she left momentarily without offering any assistance. Well, finally maitre’d emerged from somewhere and I was directed to my table. I was in limbo for approx 5 minutes.
Our server appeared and handed us a special menu for the day. But when I ordered something on that menu. His response was “what?” He apologized and confessed the special menu was new and he had not yet checked what was printed in it! At least he was honest!
First time to the SF location. Nice clean look, great bloody Mary’s, we had a salad nicoise and a palm beach salad. Both were perfect. We shared an opera cake for dessert, with double espressos. All service was professional and friendly. Definitely worth going to.
Lovely as always!
im a big fan of freds. the service is outstanding and the room is beautiful. its my fav place near union square for a bite to eat or a cocktail at the bar. bellisimo
This is a lovely space that makes a welcome addition to the Union Square dining scene. I have just been once, and likely will return, but unfortunately that visit was disappointing.
The food we had poorly conceived and executed. We both had the SF Club. It had some nice crab and shrimp that was completely overwhelmed by thick, under-toasted bread and a mealy tomato. Such a waste of good seafood. The "Belgian pommes frites" were pretty good but perhaps a bit thicker and chewier than I anticipated.
The service was eager and generally good, and the ambiance is great. Re value, $32 for a sandwich and some fries seems stiff to me.
I will go back, try something else, and write a more favorable review if the food is better.
Exquisite restaurant view spectacular! Definitely high society restaurant! My nieces and I ordered Fred’s salad nothing Speacil. I wasn’t super impressed with the food. You had to ask for bread each time u wanted a slice. We did not order desert but looked good.
Great restaurant - ambience is elevated casual and staff and manager are top notch!
