Gatehouse Restaurant at Greystone

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was creative, with a variety of menu choices all very well done. We've eaten in 20+ Michelin-starred restaurants and the food at the Gatehouse was executed at that level. Service was patient and attentive, and strove for a level of service to match the cuisine; the wait staff is made up of culinary students so inexperience showed at times but overall the staff gave a very positive impression. Total cost for two 4-course prix fixe and two excellent glasses of wine, plus coffee after, tax ,and gratuity was $189 - not "cheap" but very good value for the quality. We will certainly return and would recommend the Gatehouse to anyone.

Absolutely fantastic! One of my top ten meals of all time. Students were just back from spring break but wow they deliver! If you are in Napa definetly eat here.

Celebrating our anniversary. The staff was courteous and very efficient. They even gave a a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate the occasion.

Gorgeous Food, excellent wine pairings, good friends, cozy atmosphere. What more do you need? We had excellent service that was non invasive, a fire burning not 10 feet from us on a cold raining evening. Just BRILLIANT.

Everything about our experience was great -- food, service, plating of the food, variety of menu choices, restaurant facility, pricing except for the wine pairings which I thought was overpriced. Our server explained the menu items carefully and patiently and was very attentive throughout the meal without being a nuisance. If we lived closer to the place we would dine there every week. Visit and enjoy as we did.

The food was outstanding. We loved everything we had and the wine pairings were perfect.

The experience was lovely. The food selections were unique and very flavorful. The wait staff was very pleasant and enjoyed what they were doing. It was one of the highlights this trip to St. Helena.

Wonderful dinner with our daughter and fiancé to celebrate upcoming marriage. The server brought complimentary Champaign for them! Delicious layers of flavor in all the dishes in every course. Elegant playing and impeccable service. All of a sudden we’d find four servers setting plates in front of us simultaneously, explain the dishes, and leave us to enjoy. The training for the students is awesome!

Excellent food prepared and served by aspiring chefs at Culinary Institute of America. Worth your time to go.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here and the staff were excellent

Dishes were well put together flavor-wise. I had the braised pork shoulder as my main course, it was tender and cooked very well. The mushrooms and sauce were the perfect accompaniment. As well as the crispy onion rings which I think was garnish, nevertheless it was good. They did a good job with presentation and plating. I did not have dessert this time but I’ll be back to try that very soon. Finally the staff were very sweet. They were attentive with the little things such as re-filling water glasses and offering more bread.

What a wonderful dining experience! My husband and I were in the Napa Valley for our anniversary. We came to the Gatehouse for lunch on a friday. It was amazing.

waiter was great, food was great, restaurant was great. They served us 3 wrong meals out of 6 courses, but was soon rectified....

Visited the CIA when wine tasting in Napa. We had a great lunch and the staff were wonderful and very professional. Highly recommend when visiting wine country!

We picked Gatehouse based on a recommendation. The food and service were amazing. The servers were very engaging and knowledgable about the food and wine. The atmosphere was quiet and casual. The whole evening was amazing. This is definitely on my list of restaurants to visit again!

The food, the ambiance and the waitstaff were equally outstanding. What an excellent way for us to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday right after a spa treatment in Calistoga and wine tasting on the way to the dinner. Both my wife and daughter said that the Meyer Lemon Cheesecake was the best desert they had ever eaten.

When we visit Calistoga we look forward to spending an evening at the Gatehouse! It is definitely our favorite place in that area. This time we took friends and they were just as impressed!! The food is fabulous, the service is unparalleled and the restaurant has such a cozy feel to it! It's also fun to talk to the students... they are so friendly and we usually learn a little bit about them, which is fun and interesting.

Our meal was excellent. Upon entry to the restaurant, we are taken care by the students. Service is impeccable, dishes excellent, dressage beautiful, agreements with the wines are surprising and divine. We were able to talk to the students about their training. It has been very rewarding. If you want to discover an avant-garde kitchen , do not hesitate. This restaurant is worth a visit.

The new Gatehouse is very different from the old restaurant. It is much smaller & the kitchen is now hidden. It is quiet and sleepy cottage style instead of the old flaming pans and hustle bustle. Still an excellent value for the money, but less of the modern Napa feel.

Fantastic meal. Absolutely loved it!

It was our Anniversary and wanted something nice. Gatehouse was the perfect spot. My wife loved every part of our meal. She especially loved the paring of the wine with each course of the meal. We will definitely go back.

The Greystone Gate House with it's high ceilings, massive stone fireplace and original stained glass windows was perfect in every way. The old world charm contrasted nicely with the gleaming new stainless kitchen which can be viewed from the intimate dining room. The acoustics were perfect, we could hear our table mates but not the next table. Every choice of our 4 course meal was so carefully prepared and presented, it seemed like edible art. Chef Sarah put her own European spin on every dish and Professor Sean Fry presented wine pairings from Napa Valley to France, each one perfect with it's plate. You will not be disappointed when you choose the Gatehouse Restaurant at Greystone for your next lunch with friends or night out with someone special.

If you visit the Napa valley, I would highly recommend dining at Graystone. The food and service are outstanding.

Skip Copia and come here instead! Formerly the Conservatory restaurant, staffed by students, this is GREAT value in a pricey area. Small, cozy, it's located in the small building to the left of the main CIA bldg., with its own little parking lot just beyond, right when you enter thru the main gates. Food was excellent, service is very good in the traditional manner. We greatly enjoyed our meal and felt it was almost as good as our earlier lunch at Auberge - and you can't ask for more than that! Highly recommended.

I’ve always wanted to go here so went for my birthday. Everything was delicious and it was a great experience to watch the students perform what they have learned.

The staff was polite and courteous, the ambiance was warm and intimate, and the food was unbelievable. I would certainly visit again and recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique dining experience they will never forget.

I understand that this is a culinary school and not a real restaurant but, still, they can do a better job. The food was largely undercooked and the service was slow, especially on our friends' table where they had to wait for an extremely long time to receive their entrees.
The selections were good and were creative but that was undone by the actual quality of the served food.
