Ghost Pepper Taco and Tequila Bar

Hostess and server were super nice and awesome. Food was decent but it was definitely over priced. Drinks were delicious! The ambiance was cute and fun as well.
Ghost Pepper is a decent spot for food and drinks. Nothing to write home about, but still okay. The nachos were really good! The house margarita didn’t taste fresh, more like a pre-made mix. The steak entre was tasty enough, but the rice and beans were not seasoned and I had a few uncooked pieces of rice. That’s never happened anywhere else I’ve eaten! The papas bravas were okay and potatoes were cooked well, but once again unseasoned and too many potatoes with too little sauce. My boyfriend got tacos and said they were alright, but we’ve been going to Yellow Door for tacos for years now, and honestly theirs are cheaper and tastier. It’s a nice neighborhood spot so I’m sure we will be back for a drink and an app again, but not a preferred date night spot. We also got reservations and called ahead that we would be 5 minutes late, showed up and the host informed us that our table was not available anymore and we would have to sit at a shared table (on Valentines Day) or the bar. What’s the point calling ahead for the heads up?!?? That’s never happened anywhere else I’ve eaten. After sitting at the bar for a minute, the host came back and let us know that we did, in fact, have a table. Good music and overall ambiance.
Food was great, server was friendly
We are big taco lovers and will not be back here. Did not think the food was good at all. Ended up taking two bites and going to the restaurant next door.
Great place. Ambient, good service. I would definitely go back and I recommend it 100%
We loved this place! The food was fresh & flavorful, with friendly, helpful and attentive staff. It's a very convenient location, literally across the street from the Savin Hill Red Line stop. One warning: The plates are bigger than you'd think they would be, so be prepared to take home leftovers.
Good place for apps & drinks! Good drink selection!
Reuben our waiter was fantastic! The food was great, especially the small plates!
Great food, wonderful service. Ghost pepper margarita is the perfect spicy tequila drink. So happy with the new addition to the neighborhood!
Delicious tacos. Cool place and great service.
Nice that it’s close by but won’t be my first choice for food or drinking though the atmosphere was good for one on one conversation. Might be what we ordered but it felt like a lot of our food was just covered in a sauce which is why defined it. Tacos were fairly ordinary. Cocktails nothing to write home about.
We had heard many mixed reviews but went with open minds. The staff was friendly drinks were good and the food was great! I would definitely recommend and will go again
The food was excellent and our server Erin was amazing. She’s so friendly and knowledgeable. This restaurant is the new hot spot and definitely deserves that distinction.
Really great atmosphere and love the aesthetic of the place. Literally less than 30 seconds from the train station. I drove but my friend took the T. Lots of free parking around if you go after 6pm on a weekday. The pupusas were amazing and the drinks were strong. Great service overall
I really like the space and location. However, the beautiful incandescent lighting is completely ruined by the bright white neon sign that casts a bright yellow light across the almost the entire restaurant. Just a minor design flaw.
Wonderful small plate choices. Delicious guacamole and drinks. Chill atmosphere. Loved the large TV screen showing old black and white films, like the Three Stooges!
I was excited that a new restaurant opened in the neighborhood but I was very underwhelmed by the food and disappointed with the drinks. My margarita tasted like sour mix. Why do you need to use a mix? Why can’t you make fresh margaritas? Very disappointing. The food was OK. The Octopus entree was very tasty and the one dish we loved and I would order again. The tacos were spicy but bland. Both the shrimp and cauliflower tacos had the same spicy tomato salsa in it that over powered any other flavor. The ceviche was way overpriced for the size and under flavored. Needless to say, we won’t be back, there are way better Mexican /tapas restaurants only a T ride away. I hope they revamp the menu or chef because having a good restaurant in the neighborhood would be so wonderful.
One of my new favorite places!! Service, food and ambience is perfect.
The steak was raw and chunky and disgusting, my nachos also had a large chunk of raw garlic in them GROSS will not be returning .
Wait staff was helpful but the food was average. Tacos came out a bit cold.
It was good but I feel like the some of the menu items were overpriced
Overall I was underwhelmed by the food. The Carne Asade tacos were tiny and the meat had absolutely no flavor. The street corn appetizer was OK, but still very minimal flavor. The nachos were the best out of the order, but still all the chips on the bottom had no cheese. The drinks were good. I'd go back for a margarita and the vibes, but that's about it.
Very interesting menu and good food, although some r a bit on the small side. Margueritas were nothing special. Ambience is like a warehouse or cafeteria with pipes overhead- doesn’t seem to match restaurant Food offerings .
The food was good and the drinks were great. The service was excellent.
The best Margarita ever. Food was good. Best service I’ve ever had.
Food was not very good and presentation was even worse. It seemed as though they knew that their food was bad and just didn't care. Ambiance was also very busy/confusing- my wife and I knew that we were not in for a good experience as soon as we walked in. Service was fine but other staff members were rude. If you are looking for good tacos go to Yellow Door in Lower Mills or takeout from Il Barrio on Dot Ave.
Drinks came out quick at first. Tacos were on cold plates - which in turn chilled the tacos and made them feel like they have been sitting out. We got the wrong order and it felt like we were given attitude instead of making it right without question. At the end it took forever to get the check at the end.
It has potential but I’ve been two times and I’m left paying $70 a person for two drinks and food and I was still hungry. Tapas shouldn’t be a rip off - tacos are smaller portioned than competitors and lacking the culinary creativeness to draw me back.
We had a reservation and still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Then once we were seated, our table hadn’t been cleaned. The restaurant itself was really nice in terms of ambience and decor. Our waitress was also very nice, funny and attentive. We placed our order and the waitress came back 2 different times to tell us that 2 items we wanted were sold out. So we ended up having the marinated olives, pappas gravas, cauliflower taco, chips & guac and carne asada tacos. Only thing that was actually good was the olives (can’t mess that up) and the guacamole. The pappas bravas were way too spicy but lacked seasoning. We requested sour cream on the side and it was watered down. The cauliflower taco was OK. The carne asada tacos were terrible. No flavor and the meat was very chewy and hard to eat. Those were sent back. The complimentary chips and salsa were good as well. The margaritas were also good. This was their grand opening night so they may need time to figure out their menu and work out the kinks. We probably wouldn’t go back though.
Drinks were good. Food not so much. Tacos are small. Chicken tasted re fried and rubbery. Not worth the cost of it. Would go for a drink. But not to eat again.
Sat us in the lounge area. The chair at the end of the table is much too low so hard to eat dinner and also feel like you aren’t apart of your group. We were seated and our waitress never came over to the table. After about 20 mins the hostess came over and asked if we wanted to order drinks. She took our drink and food order on a post it not met. A half hour later we still didn’t have our drinks. We ended up going to the bar ourselves to get our drinks. The food took along time to get to our table and when it did it was cold. The empanadas were dry and tasteless. They ran out of enchiladas so we switched to nachos instead and they were pretty tasty. Overall the experience was horrible and we won’t go back.
A packed restaurant and only two servers. The chef was acting as a server which must be why the food wasn’t at its best. Hopefully the owner will get it together. The server we had was doing her best and the chef was a good man. They are the only reason I gave the place 4 star rating.
Great food and vibes!
I really hope this place gets it act together, it is such a great location and the ambiance is awesome! Service was subpar and tacos were all cold when we got them, very little flavor. Street corn was decent and nachos were great! Margaritas were subpar as well. Really rooting for these guys as they are right near my house, will probably try them again in a few months.
Food was mediocre; drinks were expensive, light on tequila heaven on ice and sour mix. As a party of six with two kids, were seated at a couch and chairs around small tables. The restaurant seems to have decided it won’t be offering high chairs so this configuration was our only option and far from ideal. To open in a neighborhood, thriving with families, and actively discourage families with kids is so odd. Also, if kids are in high chairs they are far less disruptive. Instead, I was trying to keep guacamole off the new furniture and chase a running toddler. Overall a disappointing experience; which may have been their goal in hoping I don’t return with a kid.
Great food and drink! We had the house margarita which is served in a fun looks like a clear red cup and nachos with added guacamole. I have several-food allergies and I think of a nanosecond of the bartender put our order in the chef came out introduced himself and discussed my allergies. The place is new so of course there are a few kinks to work out but all in all I look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
I have been here 3 times in one week! I love this place.
We tried the elote corn, papusas (spelling?) and a bunch of different tacos!
Carne asada was probably the favorite, with carnitas and pork belly right after, the fish taco probably brought up the rear...not because it was bad but because of how good the others were
Drinks were great as well, I stuck primarily with the house marg
Mediocre food. Margaritas weren’t strong. Small portions. Food comes out from the kitchen as it’s ready. So they don’t serve the whole order at the one time. Was with a party of 5 people. Awkward when you have one person at the table doesn’t have any food yet. Service was great. Space is cool. Disappointed that the food and drinks missed the mark.
