Grand Amari is a traditional Italian dining destination inspired by the food traditions of Italy, fine Italian wine, and amaro. We are working with pasture raised proteins, seasonal local organic produce, and highlighting the quality of handmade products. Simplicity and care in our approach is key. Start your evening off by perusing our extensive wine list while enjoying a platter of scallop crudo with a glass of grower Champagne. Follow that with our delicate handmade agnolotti or squid ink bucatini, then indulge in grass fed bistecca alla fiorentina or salt crusted branzino. Don't forget to get a bottle of Barolo with your bistecca! Wrap up your dinner with an array of Italian desserts and our indulgent amaro cart and menu.

    Merry Christmas from Grand Amari! Come celebrate Christmas like the Italians do on December 24th. While the "Seven Fishes" is a modern American-Italian invention, we are drawing inspiration from the centuries-old tradition of abstaining from meat on the eve of Christmas, instead opting for an abundance of dishes from the sea. Our feast will be a 5-course tasting menu consisting of seafood aplenty, including dessert (we'll skip fish for the sweets, don't worry) What to expect: Some antipasti, soup, pasta, and entrees made from the ocean- oysters, squid, branzino, and much more! A wine pairing with each course will also be available. Tickets are $115 plus gratuity and seating is limited to the availability of tickets. Grazie!

Celebrate the new year with dishes like beef carpaccio with truffle, foie gras torchon, trout Alto Adige with caramelized fennel and soave butter sauce, prime rib al Barolo, and then finish with a budino al mele or panna cotta al cafe Not huge on the meats? Each course also has a meatless option such as mushroom sformato with caviar, or white-truffle porcini risotto. Wines to pair will also be available, including the undefeated champion of celebration, Champagne. Tickets are $135 plus gratuity, subject to availability.

    We love food! Grand Amari was on my list of places to go since they opened. Definitely some of the best Italian food we’ve had. My husband said it was better than the food in Rome. We expected the restaurant to have more people dining based on how amazing their menu is. This restaurant’s quality of food and level of service was top notch! My only recommendation is to market this restaurant better so more people can enjoy their amazing food. This place needs serious recognition. We will be back for sure!

    We had the Thanksgiving special, consisting of a charcuterie plate, salad, osso bucco for the main course and desserts. The items on the antipasti plate were delicious and unique (fried octopus, crostini, etc.). The osso bucco was delectable, the meat falling of the bone and tender. The desserts were and apple tartini, stuffed pear and tiramisu, all excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable and recommended some fine choices for wines to accompany the meal.

    We stayed at the Grand Stark partially because I was intrigued by Grand Amari and Little Bitter Bar. As expected, they carry an amazing selection of amari. The food was fantastic as well, our paperdelle noodles were some of the best i've ever had. Our server, his name i cannot remember unfortunately, was a wealth of knowledge regarding amari. He seemingly knew details about every bottle they carried, shared his favorites with us (and his list of bad cocktail names haha!) and ultimately provided such hospitable service, I will come back anytime i'm in Portland. Thank you!

    Very cool place. Great food, atmosphere, awesome service. Went for a business dinner with colleagues from various countries and everyone loved the experience. A bit pricey but not unreasonable. Would be happy to go again. Everything was delicious.

    Grand Amari is not your run of the mill Italian restaurant. You may not know any of the wines on the list, but your waiter will ask what you like and guide you to the perfect Italian bottle. You do recognize focaccia, but you may never had it as good as this. All the dishes we ordered had outstanding flavors, the kind of thing you'd like to duplicate at home, but know that you probably couldn't. Quiet enough for a date night and comfortable enough to settle in for a great meal. Great food. Great service. What's not to like?

    I found the food to be just okay but nothing outstanding or creative. My tastebuds were not excited but more neutral. Just didn’t wow me. Service and ambiance was great! I may try again to see if things change. They’ve only been open for 7 months.

    It is as a quiet Friday night, the server was pleasant and the food was interesting. I would like to try it again, I had higher expectations. Beverages were interesting and tasty. This place has so much potential!

    The food and service were outstanding. The Burrata with pickled Tomatoes was delicious and you can't leave with out doing an Amaro flight.... or is that an Amari flight? We'll be back soon!

    The service, food, and drinks were absolutely top notch! The egregious homelessness and vagrancy outside their front door is a poor impression. Admittedly, this is not Grand Amari’s doing. It’s the city of Portland mismanaging things…unfortunately, impacting otherwise impressive businesses like Grand Amari. City of Portland…get your act together and clean up your city…show a little bit of pride.

    We had a great experience at Amari! I was a little skeptical because of the area of town it’s in but whatever’s going on outside disappears once you’re in there. We got the special “carriage” seat, our waiter was on point, the food was delicious and the ambience was relaxed and elegant. Definitely recommend!

    The food was exquisite and the service was competent and kind. The only downside is that the rest of the neighborhood is a mess right now. We didn’t feel unsafe, but it was a rough juxtaposition. If you go, get the squid ink bucatini. Delicious!

    We split several different items and everything was delicious. What was even more impressive than the food was the level if service. Our waiter timed out our courses perfectly and was very attentive. There was a large (and loud) party seated next to us and after they left, management even thanked us for our patience. They even gave us a free dessert as a thank you. I will definitely be back.

    This was our first visit to Grand Amari. Two of our diners had the pork dinner and were a bit disappointed. They did not expect that the pork would be breaded and fried. Our server did not specify how it was cooked. Our other two diners were very happy with the smoked chicken and the fish dish. Yum! The sides were excellent. The service was fantastic. We also appreciated the very low noise level. Actually hearing your dining partners is a huge plus. We will be back and next time we will ask more questions,

    I enjoyed the focaccia bread very much, and it was a tasty, quality spaghetti as well. Fried anchovies weren’t what I was expecting, I’d pass on those next time.

    Appetizers - arancini and panzanella - were excellent but the quality went downhill from there. Pork Milanese was a dubious cut of meat and overly salted. Sides, polenta and grilled broccoli, were also too salty.

    Four of us dined and it was perfection. Service was off the charts and the pastas blew our minds. The Amari cart was so fun.

    Everything was great. Staff was friendly. We had beef carpaccio, focaccia, wax beans, spaghetti pomodoro and squid ink bucatini.

    Cute spot, but very loud inside even though there were only 3 tables seated. The food was OK, with some dishes being over/under-seasoned; I was sick when I got home later that night after dinner.

    First time visitor and found on IG. Only recommendation that would have is about the carpaccio. I know it needs to be frozen in order to cut it so thinly but it should then sit in room temp for 10-15 minutes to "dethaw". It was still really good but there were still ice crystals. Also, it needs capers. We'll be back.

    The place and ambiance are nice. I would not say this is true italian food and tend to think is a bit overpriced for what you get. Drinks were good and overall had a good experience. It will not be on my repeat list or become a favorite but it was good for random date night

    Incredible pasta and arancini and amazing service. I would 100% recommend this place to a friend and I will be going back. My only suggestion about the atmosphere is to maybe fix up the front door. It slams pretty loudly sometimes. It's not the worst but it was noticable.

    It's an attractive restaurant next to a quaint hotel (which we didn't stay at - just took a quick peek). Our waiter and the maitre d were both very professional and kind. The food is not quite as tasty as I think the price reflects. The intention for taste is there and the food looks tasty, but the flavor was not quite there. Hopefully something they can work on.

    We really wanted to like this place, but was a big disappointment. We went for date night and left saying we would never come back. Tough location with no parking. The seating is very close together and we were stuck next to a table of loud obnoxious cursing drunks. No attempt was made from staff to request to tone down the constant loud f-bombs. The cocktail was decent, service ok, but food was expensive and none of the dishes tasted good. How do mess up creamy polenta?! Somehow they did. Definitely not a repeat.
