Grand Lake Kitchen - Dimond
Nice to have more eating choices in Diamond. Unique dishes, excellent preparation.
Great overall. The sprouts were a little undercooked and service was ok. Our waiter, I felt was ok but almost like couldn’t be bothered. He was ok.
Great local restaurant that brings a lot to the neighborhood.
Love the beautiful new space. Great place for a party. Menu has affordable options, everything was tasty.
Kid-friendly and great cocktails for the parents
Everything was fantastic. We love the location on Grand Street and are so excited to have this location so much closer to us. The only thing I will say is that its very bright inside in the evening so its not really a date night place. But if that's the only complaint then they're doing fine, amiright?
We both found our meals disappointing and decided maybe we’ll do lunch or brunch instead the next time.
Great addition to the neighborhood! Will be back soon with friends.
Such a great addition to the neighborhood. A more relaxed version of the Lake Merritt location. Similar menu, same great cocktails and wine. But more space to enjoy. Great place to grab a bit at the bar, have some friends gather, or to take your dog on the patio. Food follows the simple and delicious path they took on Grand. You can't go wrong.
Overall dinner was pretty good. The staff was great. The food was a bit pricey and the dinner options a bit limited.
Mostly good but very noisy. Went at 6pm, which was family time. Lots of noisy kids. Also noisy room. Difficult to talk comfortably.
Great addition to neighborhood. Food is just as good as original. Menu is small but a nice mix. Great bar. Some nice outdoor spaces. Worth the visit for an event or everyday meal.
The tables inside are way too close together, you can clearly hear the conversations on both sides and it feels like you’re crammed into a sardine can. A man also came over to our table what seemed like every 5 minutes to ask if everything was ok, interrupting our conversation multiple times. I appreciate good customer service, but that was really overbearing.
We were excited to try out GLK; however, we must say that the experience was a disappointment. The service was especially slow (which echos a lot of what other reviews say)--our food took incredibly long. Moreover, I wouldn't say the dishes were particularly memorable or noteworthy. I highly doubt I'd return to this site.
We were on our way to the Chabot Science museum to see Mesmerica.....what a great restaurant to start the evening with! We sat outside, very friendly staff and everyone LOVED their food! I had an Italian sandwich and it was perfect, from bread to meat and all the right accessories! Open faced Salmon sandwich, perfect and a Mid Eastern plate, again, all the right stuff! We shared the Asian cucumbers, yum!! We live in Marin or this place would be added to our spinning wheel of where are we eating tonight!! Excellent find!!
Slow as molasses service, although our server was very nice. The couple at the next table waited over an hour and then were told that the waiter forgot to enter their entree.
Both my friend and l agreed that the wine selection was poor. We sampled a few wines and they were just OK. We agreed—we won’t be going back—and the marginal wine list has a lot to do with it.
Beautiful large and bright. Service was outstanding. The food was disappointing for dinner but I’ll try it again.
Delicious food! Excellent service! Beautiful and comfortable restaurant. Highly recommend.
We’ll be back!
Great food and service
The menu has something for everyone! I like this location much better than the one on Grand only because it is larger and parking is easier!
Our second visit to Grand Lake Kitchen Dimond was improved from our first visit. Food was well prepared, appetizing, and correctly priced. Our only issue was with waitstaff who were not as friendly as previous experiences at both of the locations. We still recommend either location for lunch or dinner.
The food, though good quality, was overly salty. Since this is a new second location, I'll give them another chance.
We met for Brunch and loved the food- great addition to the neighborhood- love the hours and location
I live just around the corner and went for my birthday with friends visiting from England. It is really well designed, which makes an impression as soon as you walk through the door. Very nice and efficient staff. The food and drink were delicious. Super diverse crowd with a great ambiance. I have already booked again and will be returning with good friends for another birthday celebration. So glad Grand Lake Kitchen is in my hood!
Great service, great people, we enjoy the space, food is consistently good and interesting. Would be great if they could strike a deal with the hamburger joint across the road for parking however. Uber is always a good option. It has become our go to place.
Love the new GLK location. It's so much bigger and while I live across the street from the original, think I'll be spending more time here. Minor concerns, its very loud. There should be better acoustics in here. We came to half full restaurant and cold barely hear ourselves. Also, my husband I ordered the same dish. His was well, mine medium, and we were served each other's steaks. Maybe just a flag, a toothpick, something to easily indicate otherwise, all was good. Great waiter!
Drinks were great, service was friendly and efficient. Food was really good. Lovely staff. Welcoming atmosphere
Really enjoyed the salmon dish.
Great food; great cocktails; great staff. Really comfortable place and easy parking.
The worst eggplant dish I’ve ever tried to eat and I was charged for it even though I sent it back. Boring dry burrata ( how???). Good wine and nice server but so many dood errors I think I’ll go for drinks in the future.
The bartender was amazingly slow. We were there at five and the restaurant was nearly empty. We waited at least 15 minutes after placing our order to get our martinis. We had a charcuterie plate (mediocre) and fried green tomatoes (good). I had the chopped salad which was good and a large portion. Another of our party had the pork chop which he liked but was disappointed in the Anson Mills polenta. The carrot cake was dry and crumbly. If you really like carrot cake, don’t order it.
Great addition to the Dimond district/Fruitvale area. Fun, contemporary comfortable space, pleasant and diverse staff and the food is DELICIOUS! I was worried it would be too loud to hear my companion across the table because the tables are close together and the space has a lot of tile/hard surfaces that can get noisy, but it was fine. Didn't have to yell at all. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and explained specials well. Overall a nice outing in the Dimond, will definitely return again.
Limited menu, $14.00 hamburger, $28.00 Pork chop, SLOW service. Food was good but I felt it was overpriced.
As always, GLK does it again! In their new location in the Dimond District of Oakland, they have grown up! From their smallish yet incredibly welcoming location on Lake Merritt, GLK now offers a full size restaurant that can rival any other in Oakland. The beauty of this is that even though the location is new and big, but they were able to conserve the taste of home cooking and the welcoming/personable service. I love GLK and I will try to bring to them as many people as I can.
GLK in Dimond is the recently opened second location. This is more of a dinner venue as noted by the number of people. However, this upscale diner needs a new bartender that doesn’t ice down the $12 cocktails (which also need more alcohol balance), trained wait staff that actually care about service and protocol, and a menu that actually serves dinner. The current menu is the same as the other location which is brunch spot. It’s a diner serving up a $25 salmon and $32 steak without asking how you want your meat cooked.
Food was great. Love the new location. Great diner feel.
The food, service and ambience are great and it is a new neighborhood hot spot. Make sure you make reservations and are wanting to enjoy a leisurely meal. We ate here twice and enjoyed their dishes and drinks! We had the Manhattan, the Porter, the IPA, mermaid lemonade, ginger pup, green light all were great! As far as the food, bone marrow was good, side mixed green salad and outstanding and moist were the rib eye steak which melts in your mouth, pork chops moist and tasty, roast chicken cooked to perfection, eggplant parmesan, and the king salmon. For dessert we had the tasty carrot cake and Dole Whip! Only glitch was the second time we had to wait at least 15 minutes for our food and so that was longer than usual but it was worth the wait.
Great food and cocktails! Love the interior design and so happy to have it in the neighborhood!
I love this new location in my neighborhood! Been going to the original location on Grand Ave for years.
You’ll notice no deli service in this location, plus as they’re just open a month or so, they’re still working out the service aspects and supply. They were out of several menu items when we arrive for a Friday evening dinner reservation and the service was much too slow considering only half the dining room was filled and there were no events in the private banquet room.
Food and drinks here are A++, outstanding! Definitely worth the price for a casual meal or a date night. Nice city parking lot across the street too so no trouble parking.
All in, I’m going to love this place and I’m sure the service will only get better from here. Highly recommend!
I love Grand Lake's menu and the relaxed neighborhood feel of the Dimond kitchen. The take-out option is cool, too. Welcome to the 'hood!
