Exceptional service, amazing food, outstanding atmosphere. 10/10.
Food was good as was the food service, but given for the first hour we were only table the drinks service was sub-par and inattentive due to which we decided to go elsewhere after the meal for further drinks
Wonderful food and prompt service. I would definitely recommend Grand Orient.
Peking duck was definitely a winner. I will have to go back to try out more from the menu- recommend going in a group to try multiple dishes. We had the mango pudding which was pretty average hence why I did not give 5 stars
Great food, attentive service and a stylish venue. Recommend having a drink in the front bar or heading up to the rooftop bar either before or after dinner. Will definitely be going back.
We have dined at Grand Orient a number of times. Our overall impression was that the standard of the food on this occasion was not as good as we had experienced at this restaurant previously, which was disappointing.
This hotel restaurant is horribly noisy, I can’t even talk to my family. My ears definitely hurts.
I have ordered $58 per head set dinner, we have total 5 people. The food portions were so small, can’t even feel full. I am sure there’s more restaurants options if I have to pay at that price.
Unfortunately the experience didn't match the food. We have no problems paying a premium price for good food but as a group of 4 we felt extremely rushed and basically pushed out of the restaurant. At 8.50PM we were told that the kitchen was closing at 9PM and that if we wanted more food we need to order. At that point of the evening we were actually looking at ordering another bottle of red before we moved to dessert & coffee's. We were catching up with our best friends who we don't see very often due to work commitments and my overseas travel. To be honest I was in shock that on a Saturday night the kitchen would close so early. I know we live in Perth but this is crazy. I hadn't eaten at the restaurant before but did make the recommendation as it was on my bucket list. In the end the experience went from being special to being memorable for all the wrong reasons. I travel about 90 days a year across Europe, Australia and Asia and it was just disappointing. Just for the record we left the Grant Orient and spent a further $320 on drinks & dessert. Something which we could have spend at the Grant Orient. To the Management Team please keep in mind in mind that the experience needs to match the food being plated.
Thanks - a great night. Great food. Peking Duck and the Prosperity Salad were deluxe. Second time i have been there - consistently good.
Perfect Dinning experience, with my Partner on our anniversary Date 💕
The service was really bad, they didn’t tell us when the kitchen was closing. Asked for cut chillie & waitor forgot, the other waitor was better and remembered & brought to the table. When we first arrived, no one took our drink order. Asked for drinks after waiting for half an hour etc I won’t be returning, as I felt like I spent the whole night flagging a waitor & asking for basic service. The CNY menu wasn’t forthcoming, had to request it from the waitor...
Only the part of food: soups that we ordered taste were good, but level of them did not fill to even half size, that means our soups just reached 1/4 level,it I was very tightening measurements.
We hope that will improve or change in the future
Perfection as usual. The Peking Duck is an absolute must but everything I’ve tried is delicious.
Food was good, we got the banquet for 4, why would you service 6 piece of a dish for 4. Overall quite simply not enough food ordinary value for money.
We were served promptly and professionally with an exquisite range of fare
Service and food were great. Very enjoyable evening.
On 8 January, my wife and I again had lunch in the Grand Orient. It is probably the sixth time.
The setting, of course, and the service were as hoped for ~ and almost the same for the food.
Because the "Crispy Golden Prawns" were definitely not crispy, they were totally oily/soggy, and well beyond eating. And we didn't: and at $32...
It seems they were coated in egg yolk and then fried. If so, this simply cannot bring about 'crispy'. The traditional recipe for prawns and egg-yolk is for them first to be fried and then rolled-coated in steamed yolk. (And if so rolled, the prawns should not be soggy with oil.)
Anyway, I didn’t want such a dish: I just wanted ‘Crispy’.
So, anyone who is about to order this dish might first be advised that it may not be as the name suggests.
We still look forward to coming to the restaurant in the near future.
Pecking duck is great, it's as authentic as it gets. Rest of the dishes don't really stand out and for the price I'd expect either the dishes to be in another level or portion to be bigger.
The worst overrated and overpriced food I have eaten in a long time. the local pub is able to serve more authentic Chinese food than the grand orient.
All the sauces taste like they came Straight out of a bottle and frozen per battered squid the list goes on we did not even finish our meal.
We had a table of 4 two mains came out and sat on the table for five minutes until the rest came out poor service when the restaurant was not busy
Best Peking Duck in Perth!
It’s a must try!
Great attentive service with great Chinese food.
Greta night with amazing food and good service for a group
I first came to this restaurant about 8 weeks ago with a group of 10 people . We ordered a set menu and was very disappointed with the quality and type of dishes served . I returned 3 nights ago with a group of 6
people and we ordered individual dishes to share as well as the Peking duck . The food at the second visit was much better and the overall experience much more enjoyable. I would advise against set Menus
We have had a lovely family meal out last Friday. We ordered about 10 dishes. To start off we had the Peking duck which comes in two courses. the pancake was light and the skin was tasty and crisp. the Sang Choy Bow was well presented and tasted wonderful. The roast pork although was tasty, the crackling was a touch chewy but still tasted delicious. The xo string bean was beautifully cooked. The favorite dish was the cumin lamb well cooked and the leeks complimented well with the lamb. Your red bean pancake was the best I have tasted so far - not greasy and generously filled with the red bean paste.
Faultless. Food was outstanding. We left the menu selection to the wait staff. Couldn't have been any better. I just can't wait to go back again.
Great food with even greater service! A pleasant surprise to be informed of a brand new menu with a huge selection of WA local wineries. All staff are very attentive even when it is busy.
The restaurant is attractive and well decked out. The food is good without being great,
Food was nice but service was lacking. Didn't like my glasses clashed on the table by the waiter without an apology. Not particularly attentive was the service either and they were not too busy on that Friday night.
Excellent food but extremely noisy. Not the place to come if you have elderly people in the group or wish to have some quiet conversation.
Beautiful decor, food was amazing. Unfortunately we had to wait 45 mins for our other main dishes, very disappointing; By this stage we just wanted to go, thinking that we had been forgotten about. It was explained that the VIP room needed to be served... and our dishes would be on their way- I was unhappy about this, aren't we all VIP's?
Have recently moved into the West Perth area and walked here Friday night
Had an amazing night, food was absolutely fantastic
Our waitress was so lovely and friendly.
She offered us advice on what to eat and also helped me pick a lovely Chardonnay.
The food was beautiful, the roast duck cooked perfectly and the Kung pao chicken just the right level of spicy
We have not had such a great dining experience in a long time. I train people to deliver excellent customer service and know how this can make or break a dining experience, the service we received on Friday was 10 out of 10
Can’t wait to visit again!
Service was outstanding. Been a while since I had this good a service. We were even treated to two glasses of champagne for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Food sublime. As the saying goes do yourself a favour and go and check it out!!
The food was fantastic but I did not appreciate the clock countdown as I was booking. It made me very nervous and I thought it rude. Especially as the restaurant was very empty when I was there.
Too noisy. Could not hear each other on the same table. However, the wall paper was fantastic to look at.
Our waiter was dismissive, abrupt and uncaring of our needs. We waited for over 45 min for our drink and food order to be taken even though we indicated that we were ready a number of times and she was also told we were ready and waiting by another staff . When the wine was delivered it sat in the cooling container for 15 min before the wine glasses were delivered. Tap water was spilled in the food platers while filling water glasses with no apology offered.
The head waiter was totally professional during the meal and afterwards when he was offered our feedback.
The food quality was of the appropriate standard.
I would not return to this restaurant and I would not be recommending it to others.
Pleasant staff and really good food. We were impressed for our pre concert experience.
Disappointed !! Service very aggressive, felt rushed, hovering to clear plates, many dishes not available, several beers not available, wobbly table, table too small. Food ok.
Nice cantonese cuisine on this side of town. Waiters recommendation was appreciated. Delicious homemade spinach tofu!
Delicious cantonese food, great service from the head waiter, very good recommendations!
Good Lunch options at $25 or $35 per head, also they offer Dim Sim for Dinner too which is nice!
This was a follow up to an enjoyable first visit a few weeks ago. Our group reduced from 4 to 3 close to the visit. We were the only table in the restaurant for the first hour of our visit, then 2 more tables came. Not a hectic day. We had planned on ordering the Peking Duck special but it is for 4 people. We asked for the serves ( and price) to be modified for 3 people but the manager declined. We ended up ordering some of the courses separately which resulted in us paying more money for less food. Waitress was very apologetic but there was no attempt by management to find a solution. This rigid, old fashioned attitude to service would have been easier to understand if it was a busy day. Perhaps they hoped we would leave so the restaurant was completely empty.
