Had a great lunch on the outside deck enjoying the beautiful day. We had the bacon lover's burger and the steak and cheese sub. Both were delicious! Dessert was the chocolate lava cake. Had never been here before but we are really glad we went.
Its a restaurant at a Golf Course and we encountered a group of golfers enjoying a beverage or two and making a lot of noise and playing a playlist on a phone rather loudly, They did leave as we eat our appetizers and so it became more enjoyable after they left
Beautiful outdoor dining environment. Food is delicious. Friendly servers.
This was our second visit to Grill on the Hill. The view from the deck is gorgeous, so we ate outdoors. The day was 70 and sunny. Our waitress was excellent, and our food was delicious. We will be sure to go back.
Beautiful setting. Very good food with great selection to choose from. Our server was very efficient - frequent trips to our table to make sure we had everything we needed.
We were pleasantly surprised by the selection, quantity and quality of the food.
Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Staff were awesome and the food was tasty!
Based on local reviews, their website, and Facebook page presentations we thought Grill on the Hill was more on the upscale restaurant vs just being a golf course clubhouse. So we were very caught off guard when we arrived for our anniversary dinner reservation.
The view on the deck is spectacular and the food that we had was good - sadly they were out of several things that attracted us to the restaurant in the first place. Also don't order coffee with dessert, because you will never get it.
Unfortunately, it was very short-staffed and the hostess could use lots of additional training in cleaning (she was not diligent in bussing tables and several she times kicked food off the floor under the tables vs sweeping it up) and customer engagement (we asked her several times to either get or tell our waitress something but she never did).
The outdoor dining was really nice, but it was cool and they did not have the patio heaters out (which according to their site they have) nor did they have any lighting, so at 7:45 it was dark and hard to see.
Lastly, the live music was too loud and you could not have a conversation or even hear the waitress. Several other customers commented on this as well. But the musician was quite good, just loud.
All in all, it was OK. I do not recommend Grill on the Hill for a special event dinner (like an anniversary or birthday), but I do recommend it for drinks, apps, and live music.
We are interested in trying it again, just for a night out, now that we know what to expect.
Beautiful Sunny day overlooking the pond and course. Hard to find parking and the approach hill is very steep. Wait staff was excellent
Restaurant was short staffed - service was practically non existent. The staff working was nice … food also took way too long as well.
Always a nice spot for outside dining… just don’t be in a hurry!
Best Reuben in town
Love the ambience & value for our meal. Parking was a challenge, very busy place.
Rainy day so couldn’t be on deck
Very few eating inside other than function room
There at 5 on a slow day and didn’t have one of their specials
Vegetable “medley” basically only broccoli
We had a great experience here celebrating a friends engagement! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Great views also. We will be back!
The atmosphere was great, we sat out on the deck overlooking the beautiful gold course and pond while a wonderful guitarist was playing live music. The sunset was amazing and it was a really great place to be for a special occasion.
With all that being said, the food was extremely disappointing, I don’t think I would ever get food here again, I think it’s more of a “sit and have a drink on the deck” type of place.
Disappointing experience. We sat ourselves and the table was uneven, no table coverings. It was a humid evening and the condensation from our drinks just rolled down the table. No place settings/napkins provided until after we received our food. We would have enjoyed our side salads before our meals but when we inquired after the long wait, we were informed that the salads were on the same plate as our entree. The baked haddock with Ritz cracker topping actually had a Cheez-It topping. It was awful. Tuna melt panini came with chips or a side salad (for $3 extra). My friend opted for the side salad but didn't get any chips. If you're paying $3 for the salad, which wasn't worth $3, they could have at least given a few chips to go with the sandwich. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating. Will probably not return.
The place has a really nice view, we arrived on time for our reservation and we were seated immediately, after that everything went downhill, time went by and after 20 minutes without a waitress coming to our table, we asked the host if someone could at least help us order some drinks, she said she would send someone and talked to the girl that was in charge of the table next to us and she never came to help us, even after the nice people sitting there also ask her to bring us at least water. Our server finally arrived 35 minutes after we were seated, she took the order for drinks and appetizers in a rush without asking if we wanted to order our main dishes, a few minutes later a different girl came with the appetizers and threw them on our table, one of them was way overcooked, we believe that our server was late for work and the other girls just didn’t want to help at all, that also shows poor management, lack of teamwork, and overall poor customer service, so we just paid and left. We won’t be going back to that place ever again.
It was a beautiful day to sit outside and our waitress was great!
It was pleasant
Nice sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day
We had to sit inside, too cold for the deck. Very tiny inside, and noisy table right next to us. Food and service were fine. Will go back, when the weather gets better, sit on the patio!
It was a wonderful dining experience and the sunset was beautiful
Worst meal I ever had.
Went for the outdoor dining and way too many golfers (30 or more) walking around on the deck with masks around necks, drinking and laughing, yelling to each other, walking back and forth too close to our table. We did mention that we were very uncomfortable to the waitress, who then alerted the manager and golfers were asked to stay seated, and did so.
good food and scenic place to lunch with a friend, inside or outside.
Lovely views of the golf course from our outdoor table, good food, yummy watermelon mai tai... the only issue was the waitress disappeared- we had to go inside to find the waitress for the bill. Lunch was great but it took forever to leave.
Love this place and views from the restaurants. Was a great spot for date night and live music was good too! Will be back for sure!
Waitress was super attentive for first 1/4 of our visit, then forgot about us. This was especially annoying when our food was delivered by someone (which is perfectly acceptable, but...) and she did not check back in for a long time (20 minutes ?) and one of our meals was incorrect. The waitress looked up the order and she has entered it incorrectly.
She was very apologetic and refunded the meal; and offered complimentary beverages to wrap up the evening.
Outdoor deck was great as was the outdoor music !! Overall a good night; but not great.
Eating at a golf course you wonder how good the cuisine would be. Walking up to the front (no label/sign as to where the check in is) checked in, no worries and was walked to our table. Hearing outdoor music can be a welcome to some, but knowing volume would need to be turned up for any conversation. The menus are available via RF scanner, so, break out the I Phone to look at their menu. There are two pages to the menu, friend did not see page two until I showed him. That changed his menu order. We opened with steak and cheese egg rolls. word of caution would have been helpful as to their hotness as the egg roll's juices does roll out. and no dipping sauce (ketchup was an option, no honey mustard or something different?) Main course was turkey tips, two sides were available (broccoli, oven roasted potatoes, veggie medley, side salad, onion rings, French fries, rice pilaf) chose the side salad and roasted potatoes, no choice on dressing for the salad. the tips were tender and not dry. Friend got the baked haddock and he said it was good, so we got a win on dinner. The wait for refilling of beverages (I had water and he had an Arnold Palmer (ice tea and lemonade). No asking for dessert and without a reservation through Open Table we would have been waiting with the others as tables were not leaving very quickly. All in all not too bad...
Service was bad. Food was overcooked and dry. Surrounding tables with patrons were loud and rude.
Great food, service and ambiance! Food super fresh.
HORRIBLE!! We have been here multiple times and it’s been as decent. But tonight, AWFUL. +2 hours waiting on food. Still waiting after the restaurant has closed. Will NEVER recommend or come here again.
Our waitress was fantastic. She had a wonderful personality and we could tell she was smiling under her mask. It was our first time and we had a wonderful experience. We sat out on the deck and listened to a wonderful band play. And what a view of the golf course.
The pork chop had to be sent back twice for not being cooked medium instead of raw in the middle.
Lovely night at The Grill on the Hill! Beautiful views, excellent food and excellent service.
Felt rushed from the time we sat down server right there can I get you a drink, not kknowledge about the wines or the special soup. Once we order our appetizer and meal appetizer got with in 5 min then the salads came right away and then we were told that our enters was ready to be served. Why are you rushing us it had been 20 minutes since we got there. No on entree till we finish our salad the mtg within 5 minutes brought the entree out sent it back and said we want a fresh one in 15 once we finished our appetizer and salad words on why we were being rushed Mgr didn't really care. When we finally got our entree it was cold look horrible and tastes awful. Didn't complain because the Mgr was a jerk and was not empathetic
Will not return till this company is no longer doing the restaurant
We love going to the Grill on the Hill for its well prepared food, reasonable prices and unique setting overlooking the course. We were there recently on a beautiful late summer evening which featured a simultaneous rainbow in the sky to the east and spectacular sunset to the west. Everything was perfect for a very nice evening except that the kitchen/wait staff were unfortunately overwhelmed. Our waitress was a nice young lady who was very pleasant and accommodating when we saw her, however therein lies the problem, we rarely saw her. We are not drinkers so a near 1hr 50 min experience for nothing more complicated than a couple burgers, fish & chips and a chicken sandwich was an endurance test. Granted it appeared to be a moderately busy evening however their was little in the way of communication from the staff that they were struggling to keep up with the demand. To put the proverbial icing on the cake, my son who was not given a gift of patience at birth (my problem, nobody else's) had to wait nearly 10 mins for his dinner (chicken sandwich) to arrive after everybody else at the table had been served. His dinner only appeared after going into the bar to ask other staff to check with the kitchen as again our waitress was nowhere in site. There was no apology, explanation or anything as the busser brought out the meal. Maybe our waitress was out on the back 9 as the next time we saw her was when she brought us the bill. Overall experience was mid range. On the high side was al fresco setting, quality of the food/reasonable price and immediate company I was with. However that was negatively offset by excessive delays and zero communication from the staff. A reasonable thing to do would be to take the price of four soft-drinks off the bill in consideration for the pain & suffering but that never appeared to enter her mind. Nevertheless we'll give it another shot but will probably wait till next year.
Great atmosphere . Fantastic live music. Nice menu choices.
Grill on the Hill was one of the first restaurants we had gone to since the quarantine was lifted for outdoor restaurant services. We had a wonderful time and the meals were great. The outdoor space overlooks Greenhill Park golf course and all the tables had the correct social distancing.
My friends and I all had glasses of wine and time to look at the menu before the waitress came back to take our order. We all love the onion rings and ordered them along with the pear salad and shrimp with goat cheese and a caesar salad with shrimp also. We all agreed it was a great night with great company and food.
Great trash air experience.
