Gustav Chophouse and Bar
Nice meal, service was not greatest this time.
Pricey and less than adequate food. Poor cut of meat for steak and not cooked as requested. Nothing special at all.
Excellent food and great service. We really enjoyed our meal
We were seated in a booth in the bar, perhaps the restaurant is a more pleasant experience.
Excellent food and service but
Hard to talk with friends
Every single aspect of fine dining was met! Everything from the service to the atmosphere was terrific! It was a tad noisy once a party of 15 had arrived but it was to be expected with loud crowds.. the solo musician was amazing, such a great blend of songs. Overall had a fantastic experience, HIGHLY recommend!!
Went here for New Years dinner, but it was clearly at or beyond capacity, so we thought we'd give it another try a few weeks later, at a slower time.
Unfortunately, the same problem: Service was excellent, atmosphere was excellent, French onion soup was excellent, but the steak, for the second time in a row, for each of us, was average at best. Cooked properly, but not enough taste. I've had better steaks at places like the Keg.
The food was excellent and the service was great. Enjoyed the live music
Experience was excellent we had the private area..the food and service is superb.we had the 225 dollar platter for 4 ..its was superb..seafood and steaks ..its our second time here..we came back because the food is superb..you cant beat steak and seafood
Best food I've had in years this will be the place to eat every time in in Collingwood loved the ambiance a little pricey bit you get what you pay for
Ambiance doesn't match the price. Poor service, very noisy.
Waiter spent less two minutes with us, and was only seen to take our orders and to give us the bill. Live music was too loud, unable to hear my wife. Food was great. The manager was helpful and responsive, getting the aioli sauce for my wife which our waiter forgot to bring.
Good food and good service, very pleased with our visit.
Enjoyed our evening. We had the turkey dinner but found the turkey not to have a lot of flavour, disappointed. I think the turkey was rolled instead of a whole turkey which has more taste. They ran out of apple crisp so we were given apple pie which was just so so.
Two years in a row we had Christmas dinner there. Enjoyed it a lot. Changing it up a little bit for next year would be nice! Highly recommend it to take a little of the stress off of the women out there!
The atmosphere was festive and the food was very tasty. Price wise the amounts could be a bit more. Overall it was a pleasant experience for a Christmas dinner.
We were the only table at lunch so hard to measure ambience. Very nicely decorated for the season. Lovely artwork. Service was excellent. Soup was delicious but the salads, which were our main, were very overdressed. However, the chef was quick to replace one that was returned. Having been there several times we would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner.
Awesome place great for dinner ambience and services.
I was in Collingwood for the weekend despise my wife for relaxing getaway checked out some restaurant reviews and decided I'm going to Gustav's it was amazing my wife has celiac and can only eat gluten-free food Not only was the food very very tasty they changed a few of the items like their French onion soup and made it so she would be able to eat it for the first time because as people know French onion soup usually isn't gluten free all the other Foods were amazing steak Lobster excetera but best of all was the service our waiter unfortunately I didn't get his name was terrific not only with us but his other interactions with other people's tables next time we're back in Collingwood we will definitely be going back highly highly recommended
Our favourite restaurant in Collingwood. Always great service and amazing food!
It was hard to understand the waiver with his accent. They burnt my steak on the outside and the inside was over done. The potatoes were dry
Great meal and service. Nice ambiance.
Our first time at Gustavs and we cannot wait to go back! The food was incredible and in our opinion one of the best dining experiences in the area. Our server Jordan was fabulous and gave us a great overview of the menu. Not a single complaint!
The food was very good. The service was excellent. It was our waiters first day but you would never have known it. The only negative was it was really loud but we managed. We would definitely be back.
We really enjoyed out time at Gustav's. The food was excellent and the service very good.
We were celebrating our anniversary. The service was fantastic, the food was amazing, overall a wonderful evening out.
It was a nice meal - I had the ribs - a little dry but onion soup great ! my friend had the trout special and it had many bones but her butternut squash soup was very good!
Our husbands had the sirloin special - the medium rare steak came out rare and was sent back and came out perfect the 2nd time - both men enjoyed their steaks
It was my first time there and will most certainly dine there again.
Our new favourite restaurant
Great food and always great service
Food was phenomenal. Do your tastebuds a favor and get the French onion soup.
Awesome food. Loved the music. Only complaint is, it is a bit dark but we are older 50-60. We will definitely be back!!
Food is good. Place is comfortable. The calamari had too much batter and was greasy but the rest of the appetizers we shared were delicious. Burgers are great!
Awesome service. Was the first customer in for the day. Meal came with in minutes. Very friendly staff.
Great food, great wine and loved the live music. We would recommend this restaurant to all our friends and family.
We enjoyed our dinner the first night so much that we made breakfast reservation & dinner for our second nights stay at the Georgian Bay Hotel! The seafood platter for 2 was amazing & butternut squash soup & half price bottles of Wine on Wednesday nights plus an amazing band playing in the bar! The next evening a guitarist who was also singing great tunes was so enjoyable with our filet of beef dinners & French onion soups!
It was very convenient to have a nice restaurant right in hotel. Food was good, however was expensive. Ambiance was great, especially with the live music......lovely evening!
We had a wonderful dinner. My seafood pasta was quite possibly the best I have had. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his fillet. We told our server that it was our anniversary. When the desert arrived it was on a huge plate that was decorated with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. It was too beautiful to eat - but we managed. This was our first time having dinner at Gustav's, but it won't be our last. Great job.
The food was prepared quickly and was a piping hot, generous portion. Everything was prepared and presented nicely, but the vegetables, although I like them el dente, were significantly underdone, and drowning in butter - there was a puddle of it on my plate when I was done! The stuffed trout was delicious, and my friend said her steak was done to perfection. We asked for bread, and were given a curious choice...it seemed more like a breakfast bread, what with its cranberries and touch of cinnamon. It came warm, but was definitely not fresh. The service was good, overall, but we were left a very long time, before our order was taken. The musician that night was amazing - a very accomplished guitarist, who played a wide variety, with feeling and skill!
Food is great but a bit pricey, like the live music. + local art
After listening to the local radio ads claiming Gustav to be rated as one of the best, I was very disappointed . Atmosphere is plain and boring, food was mediocre and the noise level from the adjoining bar was unacceptably loud.
The highlight was that when I returned my stake, it was tough, they were gracious and replaced it with a better, but not memorable one.
I expected something much better but "plain Jane" describes the overall dinning experience.
