Gyu-Kaku - Chicago, IL | Streeterville
Great food. Variety on the menu - great for trying some BBQ and adding a few prepared dishes.
Very unfriendly, very loud, low quality of meat. Would never go back
A fantastic and authentic dining experience in a colorful Chicago neighborhood. Great food.
Everything is wonderful and the only reason that I did not give five stars to the service was because the raw food items for the all-you-can-eat grill came out a bit too slowly, and we ended up waiting for food to grill for quite some time.
Our waiter is wonderful.
We had first been to a location in California, but when we moved, we did not have the chance to go back. But after 3 years, this visit was everything we needed. Just what we expected with all our old favorites. You can't go wrong with anything here. Fun experience cooking the food yourself (at least for us!) and the staff is always very knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back again!
Prices for happy hour make it more palatable to the wallet
Great selection of meats
Our waiter had poor communication skills
Hurried us through the process
We felt rushed
No explanations as to what the sauces were or any explanation about the meat cuts (we learned what we could by eavesdropping on the other wait staff.
It’s a little pricy, but completely worth it! The food was amazing! The service was wonderful too, very friendly! Overall had a great experience.
Everything was great other than the jerk that cooks the food. You cook your own food here and my buddy Pat took over, and he had no clue what he was doing. Don't bring your friends that don't know how to cook, like my friend Pat. 5/5, would eat here again (not with Pat).
Delicious food otherwise, great service, reasonably priced, loud but not too loud.
I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is amazing, the staff are great, and the general manager was personally involved with my dining experience making sure things were to my satisfaction. You cannot beat that, especially in Chicago! We were in town for three nights and every night we ate at this very location; just cannot get enough. Keep up the great work guys, see you in the near future.
Great food and great service. Its what is to be expected at Gyu Kaku!
visiting Chicago for a week and I went twice. Its a good place for a different experience. Fun for the family to cook your food. smores are great way to finish the meal.
It was my first experience with this style restaurant and I loved it. Food was full of flavor and any sauces made the food even better. I got the Supreme package for the unlimited deal and was not disappointed. It was so full in the restaurant that we had to ask a couple of times for forks or drink but it was still an awesome experience.
honestly an amazing experience. my 2 friends and i had the meat lovers dish and it filled us up! we had so much fun and just laughed the whole time. we definitely want to come back!
I took two kids on a downtown adventure. We went to Gyu-Kaku for lunch. Lunch specials and kids meals were perfect! The kids meals are a lot of food for the price and for 7 year olds. Plus, they absolutely loved the s’mores! Our server was friendly and helpful! We will be back!
I celebrated my boyfriend’s 21st birthday there and would definitely recommend here. The food was delicious and the place was beautiful!
Waitress was not responsive took forever to serve and very short sided. Not taking additional orders or even asking how things are going. Manager did actually come over refill our drinks and offer if we need anything else do to waitress performance.
Gyu Kaku is always a fun experience for the whole family. The food is great and we would love going there more often.
The food was very good. It can be a bit difficult to manage the grill if it's your first time, but you get the hang of it quickly. The one downside was the wait time: we reserved ahead of time and got our seats immediately, but we waited longer for the food to arrive than it took for us to actually eat the food. It's not like they're preparing the food or anything, it's just a few plates of raw meat from a set course on the menu, and it wasn't during peak hours either, so how hard could it be? Other than that, it was a great experience and I would definitely come again.
There were plenty of seats so even though we didn't get there on time we were able to get in. Apparently you have to have all members of your party present or they won't give you a table. Which is a bit of an archaic way of handling seating. The person that settled us in, put serving tongs on the table instead of on a plate. I thought it set the tone for the service, but thank God it didn't. I went to another branch of this restaurant while I was in New York and that was the only reason why I gave this place a chance because I knew how good it could be, if done properly. The meat was delicious but some fried chicken I ordered did not stay in the fryer as long as it should have to get the crusty crunch it should have been. Overall if you're going for a new experience that you thought you could only get in Asian, go to this restaurant, it very enjoyable. But if you want to get great overall service and food that was paid attention to, you probably should go to another branch site.
Took my dad who is in town for the weekend for a special/different experience. Perfect for a nice occasion to splurge for good food. Happy hour is the best to go.
Lots of crazy good places to eat in Chicago! Walked by this place several times then made the decision to check it out and won’t ever go to Chicago without making this a must stop dinner destination!
Incredibly tasty, very interactive, fantastic service
Loved it. Im definitely going back. It was my first time having japanese bbq and it was great. Delicious af👏
I love this place, good service and amazing place
Our absolute favorite restaurant!!!! Food and service is amazing! Couldn’t be happier! Amazing experience each and every time :)
Had a wonderful time cooking my meat, somehow this is just relaxing! The meat was seasoned to perfection!
The beef starts with Kobe are awesome, some of them are salted so it is not plain. Sirloin beef tastes great as well!
The service is instant and efficient. Hope to have a next visit!
There weren’t any toppings or side dishes that most Korean BBQ restaurants that include with your dinner meal.
When my wife and I go into Chicago together, which is typically a few times a year, we usually make a point to make a reservation here. Our recent trip was another good experience. Food is excellent.
Our favorites are the Spicy Tuna Volcano, Shrimp and Mushroom Ahijo, Harami Skirt Steak, the Yaki-Shabu, and the Kobe style short rib (though it's a bit pricey). Draft beer prices are reasonable for the area.
Very affordable and fun. Most of food tasted great.
Very good as usual. A little expensive. The need a better Happy Hour selection
Great value and great food. Was kind of loud though.
This restaurant will continue to be one of my all time favorites thanks to quality food, service, and location! Management was also very helpful when trying to redeem a reward using the Gyu-Kaku app. Thanks again for going above & beyond!!
The service was great and the food was good.
Great experience. Food was very good. Service was outstanding! I will definitely consider returning.
Great bbq food! weekend brunch $20/ person with soup, salad, 2 dishes of bbq meat and a dessert, s’mores or icream for each person. Good deal.
Food was delicious! There are ways to make it very affordable with the right food combinations. Japanese inspired drinks were good as well.
Very good place to enjoy a variety of meats and different sides.
We really enjoyed it. The quality of the food is fabulous!
Great experience! The waiter was super helpful, we were not disappointed by any of his recommendations.
