Gyu-Kaku - Cupertino, CA

Usually super good service. Would definitely recommend staying away from weekend dinner time as it is a hit or miss on terms of service (aka waiting 40+ minute for food and/or actual service). However, when they are on point this is definitely the go-to. I recommend the umakara meats (all of them) as they tend to be the tastiest. Cheese corn for an "appetizer" is great and I usually always recommend it to my friends who get it every time now.

Terms of drinks, they always seem to be out of the smoothie sangrias which is a shame but it is up there for those who like a more fruity/sweet alcoholic drink. Don't forget to utilize their app as after you get hooked on this place as those extra 15-25$ discounts from the app after a few trips adds up!

The experience was great! The food was amazing, and the restaurant is going above and beyond when deal with covid regulations. Parties were dispersed, and made customers feel comfortable with dining.

Their indoor seating was well spaced out and all the staff wore masks. Food came out super fast and was tasty!

We had dinner on the patio and I have to say I have never felt as comfortable dining during Covid. I felt very safe.

Food and service was good as always. Bit pricey but i guess you get what you pay for.

Great place to have an interactive meal with great friends! Love this place! We’ve been to the Singapore, Waikiki, San Mateo, and New York locations. We were so happy to find out that the Cupertino location had outdoor seating!

Outdoor dining during Covid. Wonderful staff and service.

Went there during COVID-19. It’s very limited outdoor seating, therefore online booking is highly recommended. The server was very attentive. The barbecue meat ms was great and so were the sauces.

They should not have done construction work right next to clients it was terrible to have those noises

Great atmosphere, excellent food. Prix fixe is our favorite allowing us to try a little bit of everything. We were really impressed with how well everyone adhered to the Covid-19 guidelines. It made my husband and I feel so safe dining at Gyu-Kaku. We can’t wait to go back!

This is really one of the best restaurants. Food is always delicious and all the employees working there are awesome. I don’t know how they can train their employees so well ? They did a wonderful job.

Must reserve a table ahead of time in order to eat here, only 3 tables and 1 server. Everything was pretty clean and they wipe the table and chairs after each party.

We were seated outdoors. They had the ceramic burners on and was nice as it didn't need to be oiled or changed like the normal grill pans they use inside the dining area. Hand sanitizers were readily available. Service was efficient and food was good. Although they did bring out some of the meats a little frozen so it took a while to cook it. I like that they had a service call button on the table so we could let them know when we needed to refill our order or get the check. Was a very pleasant experience during a trying Covid 19 period.

The food and the staff is always top notch! Love this place!

It's a little cramped place and not a lot of space. There is room for improvement in the level of cleanliness. But the meat is delicious, and the whole idea of self-cooking worked very well for us, two parents and two kids. We really enjoyed it.

Food here is always awesome and really not badly priced considering where it is. The atmosphere is always great, but since it’s so busy I’d definitely recommend booking first.

I love Gyu-Kaku. Every dining experience has always been great, which is why we decided to go here for Valentine’s Day. We were disappointed to find out that they did not make the full menu available that night, and were only allowed to choose from a few pre-selected Valentine’s Day courses. We ended up not eating half of the items as we usually only come here for the meat and drinks. Service was great as always, and the rose was a nice touch. We will definitely be coming back, but maybe avoiding the special holidays.

Good place for fans of Japanese yakiniku. If you time your visit right they have some good discounts.

Yes it's a chain, but one of the most consistently very good and reasonably priced, if you like Japanese yakiniku. Unfortunately the tech boom has priced out the good ethnic mom and pop restaurants I grew up with, so not many decent food options in the Silicon Valley anymore. One of the may reasons I moved to L.A. As such, whenever I visit the South Bay, Gyu-kaku is a must.

Food is great as always, the quality of meat is just outstanding.

Our server., Alvin was awesome who kept checking in on us with refills, grill changes, and whether or not we wanted to add more food to our meal.

From the start, it was excellent. The host accommodated an additional person on our reservation. They moved us to an even larger table, when they saw we weren’t quite comfy. The food was incredible, and the price more than fair.

Arrived early before restaurant opened and saw that some friends had also made reservations for their lunch around the same time so we asked if we could sit next to each other.
After we were sat .. Our party ordered our food and our friends that had their reservation made their order, we then were told they have to put both our tables on the same check because we sat next to each other. The manager told us we are not allowed to split our check if we sat next to each other which didn't make sense to us because we were two separate parties that made two separate reservations and just wanted the tables next to each other because we knew each other. After a little bit of asking why the manager finally agreed to our separate parties and told us he wont do that again ... Still confusing to me but i guess, i will not be coming back to that location due to the manager's rude and weird policy.

It was my birthday and they respected my request to get the birthday dessert but not the birthday song. They were also really attentive and came to change out our grill at the best times and even realized the flame was too strong which is why we were going through grills so quickly.

Outing with coworkers, seated us a little bit ahead of reservation time. The meat was all great and lunch deals was very good value. The vents are actually useful so you don’t smell like bbq after the meal.

Wonderful as always. Our grill table was being fussy and after alerting the manager, we were promptly re-seated at a functional table. Great service!

Not our first time here. Reserving is always a good choice as waiting area is limited (from the cold exterior during winter). Why do you like Gyu-Kaku? HORUMON.

I love Gyukaku—they have wet wipes at the table for your convenience. The meat is delicious, marketing emails and the chance to earn points? Happy hour and drinks? Awesome

Eventhough I had a reservation, I had to wait an extra 20 mins, which makes no sense when you have a sitting reservation, those should come before those waiting in line. Aside from that, our server was good, however he seem to be stretch thin with all the tables he was working. The backstaff seem to forget about our sides we ordered and didn't come till the end, which made no sense. I did appreciate our server doing the best he could, and for that I am appreciative. It was Xmas eve, so maybe next time it will be better.

The restaurant has great selection of dishes and meats, has good service with attentive staff and provides cooking information to get the best flavor and texture from the meats on the barbecue.
