Overall we felt safe and comfortable. My only complaint is I wish we werent seated so close to another couple. Even though theres a small barrier between our tables, its still too close to my comfort. Customer service was excellent and food was delicious!
Family Get Together 💖
We live near by and enjoy coming here for dinner with friends or family who are visiting from out of town. This last visit we had a party of 4 and ordered the 4 person combo for $150.00. We were happy with the quality of food indeed. We were just missing a few items that were in the description such as the miso soup and the kimchi. Had we have known we would’ve mentioned it to our server prior to leaving. Unfortunate, we noticed after we reviewed the menu upon departure. We will be back though!!!!
100 percent satisfied …………………………………………………………………….:
Not a good value for what you get. They do not do all you can eat anymore and they have happy hour prices on their menu but don’t offer happy hour at all.
Good food. 🙌🏻
Very friendly staff. Good service.
It was just amazing. The food and staff were absolutely great. Going to come back often
Kayla the server was great she knew what to recommend and execellent service.
I’ve been to many gyu kaku’s and usually they r quick with our drinks and listening to our orders. Not in this case. Got are drinks mid dinner. Forgot some of our food and she had to put it in again and it looked like she was training. So not a good look. Any ways. Overall food tasted ok. Rice was watery
Good food. Fun concept to grill your own meats. Expensive, but consistent with San Francisco prices. Go during Happy Hour. Less expensive.
All the staff AMAZING
ALONZO FANTASTIC 🥳
I had a lovely meal at Gyu Kaku last night with long time friends that I haven’t seen in a few years. We all went to Japanese together about 5 years ago, and I thought it would be a cool experience and remind us of our time traveling. It was and it did! We ordered the meat lovers which we shared (there were three of us) it was enough food for us all to share and left a little room for cocktails. Everything was delicious. The servers were friendly and not intrusive. Excellent value and a fun way to spend some time with friends.
Great customer service
The meat quality was phenomenal and the service was elite! I will be doing every chance I get!
I am thrilled by the opening of a Japanese BBQ in/ near downtown San Francisco. That gives us a good choice to stay downtown instead of having to trek over to Sunset or Richmond.
I made a reservation and arrived promptly, but they would only seat us when the entire party has arrived (standard practice for many popular restaurants in SF). The 3 of us ordered the Chef's Favorite set to share: Even though the menu suggested the set for 2 people, from the calorie count I knew it would be more than enough for 3 ladies (and glad that I was right). In the worst case scenario that we didn't have enough food (didn't happen), it would still have been easier to add a la carte items than wasting food. The dishes came pretty quickly, and the staff would inform us of the suggested grilling time for each meat when they deliver the dish.
The service was overall efficient and the dishes arrived at a good pace (not too fast that we ran out of space on our table, but not slow either that we had to wait for the next one). We were there for ~3 hours (until after 11pm) and they were kind enough to not kick us out.
Food wise it is 4+ out of 5 stars: It's solid, but not all the dishes were "wow" like Kang Ho Dong (KHD) in LA. (KHD is my benchmark for Japanese and Korean BBQ.) We weren't offer any sauces and we were too busy catching up with each other to ask, but for 1-2 of the meat dishes it may have been better with a dipping sauce.
Overall solid Japanese BBQ place at a convenient location. Would go back again!
Everyone was attentive and friendly. Great service by Cindy.
First time here so figuring out menu a bit daunting. We ordered the Ninja menu for 3 allowing us to try several meat choices which we struggled to finish. All the meats marinated & very tasty, especially beef choices. Appetizer of fried calamari could have been hotter, garlic mushrooms fine but not very garlicky. Decent miso soup & nice large salad. Large portions of white rice. Corn in cheese sauce seemed out of place, we each only had a bite. Shredded raw cabbage with a light dressing also came with dinner. Each of us also received 3 small cups of extra dipping sauce, one a sweet soy base, another salty soy base & another slightly hot. A cup of cheese cubes also was provided to make a fondue dipping sauce- we skipped this. Included dessert was toast your own s’mores.
A group of 4 could order a set menu for 2 or 3 sharing the meats, rice & salad plus some a la carte items if you want a bit less quantity. Bento boxes look like a good deal, but those are for take out only. Prices not cheap, but amount of food in group menus worth it. Slight discount during happy hour weekdays. Now that we have tried some of the items, next visit we may order a la carte.
Restaurant clean. Modern design with seating in booths mostly for 4. Each table with a grill set in the middle. Ventilation good, we did not feel like we were getting grilled. Each person gets own dish, set of chopsticks ( chopstick trainers & forks available ) & tongs for putting meat on the grill. Kitchen scissors provided to cut steak, ( other meats were 1-2 bite size pieces). Good for families, group of friends or a date. Downstairs many have tables for larger groups. On street parking ok, or park at mission/5th street garage. 2/12-3 block walk from Powell st Bart.
Fine food but seemed really dead
This place has great food and great service. We had the 2-person Chef's Special and it was enough food for three people. Food was great. Ambiance was simple, yet warm and friendly. Would go back for sure.
they need to get their act together - service didn't exist.
Rico was great he took good care of us.
They were closing and we had made a reservation so it was obviously a time that they do book but because they were so focused on closing we had very poor service.
Great food and service! Clean restaurant, great food and ambience.
Restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, who went to your location in Oakland. The food, service and total package was great. Went there with another friend. Both first time for us. Will certainly be back.
Food was great, service was awesome, and it was something we hadn’t ever done before.. we did one of the platters for two, and it was great. However, I did feel it was kind of expensive for two people, the food definitely didn’t disappoint. Definitely worth it!
This place was really good! The cleanliness, the service, the food, the drinks and atmosphere were all on point.
They do a really good job during covid of making sure you have adequate space while dining. The food and drinks were bomb! Food meat was fresh and drinks were tasty. Highly recommend for a causal dining experience!
This place is great! Nice to finally have it in SF!
Great place to eat
Always great quality meat. Server was responsive and provided great service
The food was good but a little too expensive
Great service and the staff was very helpful
Japanese BBQ - my long undiscovered passion! Easily one of my favorite SF spots now. I wonder how I went all these years without visiting this place?
Food quality excellent, portions a bit small for price but sauces were amazing. Service very friendly but a little scattered otherwise great. I’ll be back.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the entire staff were amazing and very accommodating.
Huge meal for the money. Lots of fun and the food is good. Huge variety. Only problem was the front door open the entire time making it pretty cold inside.
Amazing. Simply amazing! I believe that we were one of the first customers there since we were told they just opened recently, and it was great! Great good, great service, loved it all!
