Great time! A few more veggies options would have been nice.
Excellent, Healthy, Comfort Food - super welcoming, great vibe, delicious and healthy!
Excellent ramen at very reasonable prices in a really great space!
I had long held firm that Bantam King was the best ramen place in DC, but my partner and our friends kept telling me that I was absolutely wrong, and that Haikan was it.
They were all 100% right.
Look, I'm not saying you can't get more creative, experimental, or even traditional ramen bowls elsewhere, but Haikan hits just the right middle points and has flawless execution.
Not to mention one of the best shochu selections I've ever seen, and fries that are to die for.
I'm excited to go back. Soon.
The wait staff was friendly and the food was phenomenal.
They sat us early and all the food and drinks were delicious. Service was great. I can't wait to go back!
Food is really good. The broth has a depth of flavor missing from most ramen restaurants. Good drinks also.
Excellent Ramen and service. One of the best Ramen we have had since moving from Japan. Plus Sapporo on draft. :). Looking forward to our next visit.
Great as always!
This was my third time dining at Haikan. I brought a friend with me and it was her first time. She loved it! Haikan never disappoints!
Excellent Ramen. Try the spice bomb. Great service.
The food here is really good. Ramen is portioned well. We ordered poutine and a shoyu ramen.
This was literally the best ramen I have ever had. It was so good that we went back twice in 24hours! My husband and I both ordered the shio ramen with a spice bomb, butter and the seasoned egg. It was so flavorful and unlike any other ramen broth I've had. We got Japanese style deviled eggs and crab rangoon for an appetizer and it was fabulous. Run, don't walk here!
Seated immediately upon arrival, promptly received table service, and had zero issues throughout our stay. Killer food, friendly service, and great background music too.
Overall the restaurant is very noisy but the food is absolutely amazing!
Had a date night with my wife before a show at the 930 Club here and was 45 minutes late due to a babysitter running behind. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming despite us running very late. Food and drinks were authentic and hit the spot for dinner before a show.
Fun atmosphere and excellent quality, flavor and variety of Japanese dishes
Delicious, healthy, and so welcoming!
Can't say enough about how amazing this place is. The broth is so amazing I would purchase it just to drink like hot tea.
We come here regularly, and really enjoy the ramen (especially appreciate that they have a small size, since the regular bowl is pretty enormous). We weren't super hungry this time, so we skipped the ramen and just got the fried pig ears, the tuna sashimi, and the kabocha (we split all three). All were just so-so. The kabocha specifically had very little going on flavor-wise. And my wife got the hot green tea, which was great right when it came out, but very quickly became over-steeped and quite bitter, to the point that she could really drink it. We'll continue to visit, but I think we're going to stick to the ramen from here on out, which is always on point (reference: we lived in nagoya, japan for a few years).
Service was excellent and helpful with suggestions. Ramen (tried shio, shoyu, and vegetarian) was delicious as were the appetizers.
Haikan is amazing and always has been, from the moment I came upon it a few years ago. It's a personal favorite, and although I don't like to share - I'd be remiss if I kept some of the best ramen in DC away from those seeking it.
Very good ramen and a perfect spot if you're seeing a show next door after (it's right next to the Atlantic Plumbing movie theater). You can also eat at the counter and watch where they make all the ramen.
We loved it! The spicier, the better.
amazing as always. yummy for all occasions! will come back for my 10th time soon haha
We had a reservation but there was poor host service and had to wait 20 min for our table with confusing communication. The reception is the first part of your experience at a restaurant and this one was poor.
Haikan is WONDERFUL!
Fabulous authentic ramen - delicious food, fun drinks, GREAT staff, hip ambiance, takes reservations, has parking underneath, next to Landmark Indie film Atlantic Plumbing.
Always love them - and this time when Nick and Pablo understood we were celebrating my little sister’s Sr Olympic Tennis Gold Medal, so generously sent desserts.
Awesome ramen, however, the service wasn’t great.
Awesome meal and we tried the Spicy Ramen and a few apps - not too spicy though - perfect.
Great ramen place in U st. Daikanya’s sister restaurant??? Hard to book a table. And a bit pricey.
The ramen is tasty and there are lots of add-on options. We sat facing the open kitchen, and it was fun watching them pump out bowl after bowl of ramen.
Best ramen noodles I have ever tasted! All the dishes we tried were interesting combinations, and most of them were delicious.
We were late for our reservation by 30 min (thanks, DC traffic!), but we were still seated immediately. Service was great and our food came pretty quickly. They have an open kitchen and we were seated at the bar, so it was fun to watch the cooks work in front of you.
The ramen here is excellent! The broth is complex and delicious, but not too rich, and the noodles are fantastic and hold onto the broth well. Only complaint is that it's a little expensive for what you get, but it's DC so I guess that's expected. This was actually the second time we came to Haikan. It's now our go-to for a dinner before going to the 9:30 club for a show.
Feel like the ramen portions have gotten smaller but the prices have not. I'm more than OK with the prices, but the portions are small.
The ramen was really good and the food was hot. Our food did come at different times but within 10 mins of each other. I would recommend.
I had my doubts that this would be as good as my favorite Ramen place but Haikan did not disappoint! It’s delicious and has great appetizers and cocktails too!
This was at least my 5th or 6th time at Haikan in the past year or so and even though I love trying new foods and new places, I really can't stop coming back. It's my go-to place. The food is incredible (favorite ramen spot in DC, and I've been to several), the portions are perfect (full and satisfied and cozy, not too full and hating yourself haha), and the value is hard to beat. I'll probably be back within the next few weeks honestly. Love this place!
Great food, great service. Convenient spot if you are catching a show at the 9:30 club.
Food was delicious!
Great food--but was seated almost 45 minutes after my reservation. To the staff's credit, they comp'd our drinks and starters. Delicious food and great servers.
