Great atmosphere, great food , very cosy , staff were beautiful, I’d go again and again 👍
Lovely space and fantastic attentive staff. The food was lovely however I did find the food cool/cold -we had the calamari and the pork. Secondly the dessert was disappointing, cold crumble -not a fan particularly when it’s a winter evening.
The food was so delicious with the perfect flavours. Lots to choose from, staff were very attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere and feel to the place, will definitely be back.
I’d dined previously and love it, so recommend the venue to a group of friends for a catch up. We dined with a party of 6, including a vegetarian. To make it easy, opted for the set menu. Majority of which was vegetarian but for the meat course the vegetarian guest was not given a dish to replace the course. Upon querying the issue, we were told usually the first couple of courses (vegetarian) are spread out so there is always something available for the vegetarians. However, for a guest paying the same amount for a set menu you would expect a replacement dish/course at least. Unacceptable for Melbourne’s standard of dining. We also asked if the price of her menu could be compensated for the reduced number of courses she received. This was apparently communicated to the manager but never discussed further or made its way to the bill.
What started off as a lovely meal, soon turned sour at toward the end and topped off with the dessert course hitting the table with one serving featuring only 2 small pieces of chocolate cake to cater 6 people (after looking at the neighbouring table, also a table of 6, who received 2 servings with 4 pieces). Again, we had to raise the discrepancy with our waitress before receiving the correct amount.
Thank you for an amazing morning.
Everything was perfect
Food and setting are great. We all found it a bit too warm inside and the music was just a little bit too loud. Otherwise absolutely fabulous
Tasty food and friendly attentive staff!
Great set up and will be back for sure
Outstanding restaurant in a beautiful setting
Nicely presented and creatively prepared diverse and nutritious fare. Pricy, but service and dining experience were very pleasant.
But things will need to improve if this is to be a regular event for us. Gap between entre and mains was excessive and whilst the food was good it was not exceptional. Special steak was only just okay. Great table service and great venue.
Our food was very enjoyable and service attentive, however it felt a little rushed at times. Not much of a break between courses, but we do enjoy the atmosphere, style and concept of this hidden gem.
My girl friends and I went to Half Acre for their Bottomless Brunch on Sunday. I live right around the corner, so I have been wanting to try it for a while and I am so happy I did. The food was absolutely delicious. Highlights were the house smoked salmon, roast cabbage with goats cheese and chimichurri, and of course the challah french toast with plum and blueberry compotes. Absolutely heavenly.
To top it off, the DIY vodka bar was even better than expected. They had a couple infused vodkas along with a plain one and really delicious juices and garnishes that allows you whip up countless different cocktails! A personal favorite was the cinnamon spiced vodka (with a splash of pear juice) paired with the house-made lemonade. Refreshing and delicious.
The best part is, you could get as much food and try as many different cocktail combinations as you wanted! Value for money was great. I will definitely be back to Half Acre to try their other offerings!
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks, service and ambiance of the restaurant. I'd highly recommend it to anyone considering joining for the Saturday or Sunday brunch.
Food was exceptional. It would have been nice to have a green salad of some sort.
Also think it’s a bit rough that tea and coffee is not included in the $65.
Overall, fantastic and would definitely recommend and will absolutely be back.
Lovely dinner with friends
The food was the highlight and atmosphere was perfect. Just didn’t get the “self serve” vodka drinks that actually weren’t self serve and vodka tasted watered down that I actually couldn’t taste or felt like I’d drank vodka at all which makes me question the “bottomless” part
Fantastic restaurant! Very impressed. Delicious food, accessible, and friendly staff. I will be back again!
Very noicey. Staff found it hard to hear our order. Service wasn’t great to be honest. Drink orders kept coming late or were forgotten. However, we are coming again soon - enjoyed it. Tweak the service and you’re 👌🏼
I booked the 'Bottomless Brunch and DIY Vodka Citrus bar for 6 after reading several online reviews. We were greatly disappointed to find there was no DIY Vodka citrus bar - replaced by several very ordinary cake additions - bland sticky date cakes with no sauce, dry carrot cakes, and a hard chalky meringue. And we were charged the full $65 - drinks were extra! Prior to the day there was no indication from Half Acre that the service was to be different to that advertised.
Management's response: "we felt was so special for Mothers Day and an offering that was more in line with what the majority of mothers would want to enjoy with their loved ones".
I found this comment quite offensive. Do they really think mothers and 'their loved ones' just want to gorge themselves on tasteless sugary cakes? I certainly don't, and neither did my family. Their assumptions and stereotyping were misplaced. If they were to change the menu they should have made the public aware so only those that found it appealing would come. I certainly would have cancelled and made other arrangements if I'd known in advance.
I, like many, go online and look at reviews and menus prior to choosing where to eat. It is after all a $500 experience so I want to enjoy it. We didn't. It was awful.
Our first visit to HA, always keen to try out the latest venues in the suburb.
We dined as a family of 4, 6.30pm booking on a Saturday night. Kids shared a Pizza (wood fired) which they loved followed by the choc dessert.
The Adults order two starters, mains and sides, there was plenty of food, all was well cooked, well presented and delicious.
Service started off spot on but slipped towards the end of our two hour booking when the staff appeared run off their feet.
Fabulous bottomless brunch. Food was great and the DIY Vodka cocktail bar was a bit of fun. Looking forward to going again soon. Would definitely suit a group of girls for a girls day out :)
Perfect setting with great produce and wine selections
The food was very nice service was very good wine choices excellent. It was very busy so can be a bit noisy. Good parking available.
Wines very expensive, more balance.
Building is incredible- fab work,
Need better exhaust fan from kitchen
A local favourite - have been 3 times, consistently great food!
Innovative and interesting food with very good service and inviting and warm envirionment
The staff were absolutely fantastic! I had a special request to make a night special for my girlfriends birthday and the staff were amazing at catering for that making it a memorable night. Food was incredible and venue is stunning.
What a gorgeous venue! Service was friendly and welcoming, and we much appreciated the enormous selection of vegetarian and gluten free options.
We will definitely visit again, loved the food , our waiter was most helpful!
The restaurant was very trendy but rather hard to hear each other on a table of 8 .. limited choice of food but was good ..
Really enjoyed our meals, food was fast and delicious. Highly recommend the cabbage.
Outstanding! Food, service and ambience all impeccable. Have already recommended to others.
Great place and menu and would highly recommend
Only remark, The menu but could do with a few other more substantial vegetarian alternatives other then Pizza.
Amazing venue. Feels wonderful inside. Great vibe. Food is pretty solid. Strong emphasis on roast and grill. Solid though - we're so lucky in this town that we could find more "wow" dishes out there. Sound wine list. Recommended for dates and group catch ups but not really for kids.
We had a high table near the bar. They are only little tables so perhaps only book those if you are ordering pizza as the shared plates would be a bit of a juggle to fit. Great pizza from the wood fired oven!
Thoroughly enjoyable ,especially with a larger group , as this allows multiple dishes to be tasted.
Everything we tried was full of flavor, and reasonably generous.
I have already recommended this restaurant to many of my friends.
I've recommended Half Acre to quite a few now and love that I see them all enjoying it also. Bumped into friends on the same nite we were there.
Perfect place to catch up with girlfriends, great service and lovely food.
an accidental Great find .....congratulations to the Adventurers that went all out to create a great vibe in the industrial edge of port melb/sth melb
Had a great night and already planning a return with friends for the round table.
